i'm with you on this one. new bright eyes is incredible. i can't stop listening to it. my ipod tells me i've played it entirely 38 times already. and that doesn't include all the times i've listened to the vinyl so far. great album.

as i said to a friend on Facebook, they gave the wrong album away for free. In Rainbows is amazing... they should have charged us £9 for that and then gave us £3 back when we ordered the King of Limbs.

I can't remember who said we should listen with 'jazz-ears', but i don't have jazz ears.. i loathe jazz with a hatred that can only be described as 'holocaustic'.

Radiohead can be hit or miss... but this is a miss for me.
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

oberst and mogis are two of the monsters of folk. aren't you an mmj fan?

Ok no offense was intended. I could and should have worded better. Kid A found people wanting to like it because it was radiohead. So people persevered with it a hell of a lot more then they would have if they were a new band. I had a lot of friends who were determined to find the genius 'in' it because it was radiohead. Because it had to be there. A luxury many bands would not have. But definitely one this band earned after the bends and ok computer. Sure this may not have been you but it sure was a lot of folk

But yeah I still think it's terrible... And because rolling stone had them in the top 100 albums with it means nothing. I'm sure that wasn't a public vote anyway.

They are consistent at experimenting - but consistent quality? Experimentation and evolution is not always a sign of progression and hitting the heights.

But it's great that people see these things differently. For me if I have to try and like something there is something definitely wrong. I don't understand why people do this.

And someone said above about seeing the pyramid song live... Well I have on a few occasions and although it was better ( which I also found with many a prodigy track) it didn't create a massive impression.

Oddly I've liked the first few tracks on the new one - that I never expected!!!
Kid A is a landmark album, and it was the first Radiohead album that hit me as pure genius. I can see why people may not like it (I love guitars as much as anyone) but it's insulting to tell me that I "tried" to like it because it was critically acclaimed or some shit like that. I had no idea it was critically acclaimed - I just thought it was fucking awesome.

If you don't like it, so be it. But don't try to paint us Kid A lovers as some form of Radiohead sheep. Just say "I don't like it" without going the extra mile of insulting everyone who does.

Geezzzz 38 times!!! That's like the local natives album for me, that's a ton.....I haven't ordered the vinyl yet, but seeing as much as I like it I might have to splurg for the limited edition set. Its a great album.

I just want Radiohead to release an album that can be summed up using your epitaph: "Life is no way to treat an animal."

If any band can do it, it's them.

    Agreed 1000%

Prob through the album twenty or so times. Love it. Glad I got the newspaper can't wait to see it and hear these songs on vinyl.

I like the comparison others have made with these songs and Pyramid Song. I think it captures a lot of the essence of House of Cards too. Great album. Better each listen.

Oh my... this is perfect. Perfect. Perfect.

    I adore this band.

And yes, I acquired the taste. Grew to love them. The first time I put Kid A on I could not go through to the end. Then one day it hit me and I have never gone back.

But this one is love at first listen.
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.

It's has grown on me, but Bloom and Feral are complete garbage. Really picks up with the last 3 tunes.

  • I gotta say I'm not really getting into it. Kinda boring. And it seems like we've been here before. Really like "Little By Little" though. Maybe it'll grow on me. I've only listened to it twice.

Listening for the second time and I must say that I really like it. I wish it were longer. Good stuff once again from a top notch band.

I've listened 4 times. A really good album that will definitely grow on me. Bloom and Feral are my least favorite but I believe they will grow on me, too. I would give it a 4/5 at this point. In Rainbows was a 5/5.

I bought the newspaper album + WAV that I've burned to a CD-R and put on my iPod. It will be nice to get the 2x10" with all the artwork in May...

I listened and it is fuckin' Radiohead. If someone would have asked me what the new album might sound like, I don't think I would have been far off by saying, "Like Radiohead"

And it's good. Listen to it with head phones. Layer after layer.

I think im in the minority here but I think the first half of the album is much better. thats what I concluded after 3 listens. The second half, especially the two slow piano/acoustic songs sound pretty generic to me. I think the first 3 tracks are alot more creative. Feral is more of an interlude but even that is pretty cool IMO. And I dont see whats all that good about Separator. overall id give it a 3.5/5

Really don't think there's a weak track on this thing. "Feral" will probably be singled out as its low point but it's a cool song to listen to on headphones.
  • unreal stuff. despite a mere 8 tracks, these guys create another masterpiece. Can they do any wrong?

It took me 20-30 listens to really get into the sweet spot of this album. its gorgeous.

    THEY DID IT AGAIN!!! AHHHHHH!!!!

I understand their desire to experiment, but I almost hate Jonny Greenwood for being the mad-scientist/multi-instrumental genius that he is, because nobody plays guitar quite like him, and I REALLY miss that.

Would be nice if Radiohead does some interviews about this eventually. Wouldn't mind knowing more about the recording process for this record.

I didn't know what to think at first, but after several listens, I really, really enjoy it. And that makes me happy -- a band that can challenge the shit out of you, make you say "what the fuck?!" and still draw you into the music. my favorite is "separator." one of the best songs they've ever done, and dreamy with the echoey lyrics and fadeout music. fucking awesome way to end the record, too. anyone who doesn't like some of it -- someone mentioned not liking 'feral' -- listen to it with either headphones or with the bass blasted. some of the best bass work -- actually, probably the best bass on any RH album.

    Haha! So true.

I'll likely write a massive long tirade about my feelings towards Radiohead, just as soon I clean the last bits of puke off my keyboard from reading all the sycophantic shite written in this thread.
