You do know I called that Kenny Wayne whatever dude a douche, not SENROCK, right?
Anyway the guy ripped off Yellow Ledbetter and it is the most obvious piece of theft I've ever heard of a song.
So
If you dig a little deeper, you will see that it is quoted by Mike McCready that he got the riff for Yellow Ledbetter from Robbie Krieger of the Doors. So much for originality. It's in the Lost Dogs sleeve that he heard the riff, an article in Guitar Magazine quoted him saying it was The Doors.
Hmmm so Metallica ripped off of Kyuss on St Anger and now they've moved on to Pearl Jam for the new album. This sounds exactly like riffs from Why go and Jeremy.
Well, it sounds like the drum riff of Animal intertwined with Why go, but I wouldn't call it a deliberate rip off, it might've been coincedence really...and also the entire song doesn't sound like those two songs, the riff just happens to come in every once in a while.
And Given to fly, it's not a HUGE rip off either, it was inspired by Going to california, surely, even Mike said the song was inspired by it and hell, Robert Plant performed it with PJ, so it's clear that there's no hard-feelings or anything, and to me, it sounds like Going to california a tiny little bit, not ENTIRELY....but I guess in music, there's always gonna be something sounding like the other, it's been happening for ages and as along as they admit it or give credit, then there's no harm done, now if an artist stole a song right off, now that would tick me off....but other than that, It's normal to me.

I know about the influences Mike had when he wrote Yellow Ledbetter, so I won't enroll in your class. The difference between being influenced by something and stealing something are totally different.

Walmart has posted 30 second clips of the upcoming Metallica album, and the second song titled "The End Of The Line" sounds suspiciously like "Why Go" to me. What do you all think?
Now I'm not going to go into a major fit about this or anything, and the rest of the song may sound nothing like Why Go... but see if you guys hear it too in this small clip.
 Oh gosh.... this is hilarious!
My housemate LOVES Metallica and HATES PJ... I'm gonna have so much fun with this
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...
... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.
I got off the Metallica bandwagon right when everyone else got on with the Black album. I have the new release in it's entirety and I have to say it ROCKS! As far as ripping off Pearl Jam that's a stretch. You can find parts of nearly every song that are heard in another.
Death Magnetic is a flashback to '80s Metallica and I for one am pleased.
every riff in rock history sounds ripped off from something tony iommi wrote anyways.
Exactly...There are many influences in PJ's music : Rolling Stones, Springsteen, the Who , Neil Young, dare I say Shania Twain !!!! lol
maybe its an honuor to have your music 'borrowed'...just my two cents.
They weren't quite satisfied in ripping off Pearl Jam, they decided to rip off themselves too, because the lyrical parts are almost exactly like Creeping Death.

I actually think it sounds a little more like Animal main riff. At least the very start of it. But I could probably sit there and think of 20 more songs it also sounds like. You could say Yellow Ledbetter sounds like a Hendrix rip off too right? Just take good music for what it's worth and have a good time with it. It's not that close as I would bash Metallica like some on here are doing now. And face it before Seatlle exploded in the 90's 90% of you were listening to Metallica. I love Pearl Jam and Metallica. Yay on the new album!
and Day that never comes...what did they do take every slow song like Fade to black, Unforgiven, One, etc and remix it all? Sounds like every 30 seconds one of those riffs come in
this is not gonna do good either...thats it. Theyre done
Haha I'm listening to the audio right now and thought the same thing. The first song sounds almost exactly like "Don't Tread on me" from the black album. Metallica has been awful of recent years but they did have pretty good run for awhile, I'll probably get in on tickets to their show in Jersey just to check it out.

The show should still kick ass but i wouldnt even care to hear any of the new songs. I like how they promote the new album on K-Rock and they play all the old hits! lol

I want my $10.00 back. I bought it just to give it a whirl. There is absolutely NOTHING on this album that is worth the time or the money. (Except for the killer rip off on track 2).
They should throw in the towel. They are starting to make fools of themselves.

Sure its not a Why Go cover?
Thinking if he can't sleep, how will he ever dream?
But his heart don't seem to roam......
Ripping off someones entire intro (even the cymbal) is exactly that... Ripping someone off.
How lame and unoriginal.
Metallica has always sucked. Now we know that they blow as well.
