Metallica rip off Why Go?

Walmart has posted 30 second clips of the upcoming Metallica album, and the second song titled "The End Of The Line" sounds suspiciously like "Why Go" to me. What do you all think?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQvDWdK_b1E

Now I'm not going to go into a major fit about this or anything, and the rest of the song may sound nothing like Why Go... but see if you guys hear it too in this small clip.

Yeah, it doesn't just sound like it, it's almost the exact same riff. Good to see Metallica is so far gone they're ripping off 17 year old songs.
    Thanks EPOTTSIII!

It is crazy to think that Why Go is 17 years old.

What the fuck?!?!? I definitely see the comparison and I'm sure the members of Metallica did too.

  • Like PJ ripped off Zepplin's "Going To California"?
I shit and I stink. I'm real, join the club.

A friend, he called, I didn't mention a thing. The last thing he said was, "Be sound". Sound. I contemplated an awful thing, I hate to admit. I just thought those would be such appropriate last words. But I'm still here.

I guess I'm more forgiving to a band I love than to a band I currently... dislike. I used to love Metallica but the whole Napster thing, Newstead leaving, and St. Anger have totally turned me off.

    wow they've officially lost it

and Day that never comes...what did they do take every slow song like Fade to black, Unforgiven, One, etc and remix it all? Sounds like every 30 seconds one of those riffs come in

this is not gonna do good either...thats it. Theyre done

Yeah, I see the comparison, but PJ has nothing to worry about. It's not like Metallica is going to take over PJ in popularity with one album. As far as I'm concerned, Metallica should have quit in 91 and they would have went out on top.

Do you mean popularity on the board because metallica is way more popular then Pearl Jam. Sorry.

  • With the exception of two (I think) quick hammer ons thrown in, this in fact IS Why Go. Same key and tempo. Just played the bassline for Why Go with whatever song number two is called playing and it matched up
  • The rift sounds similar, but there's only so many rifts before things are recyled. Pearl Jam songs rifts have ripped off just any song from 70s rock. A while back I heard the "doo do doo do doo doo dooo" from Black on the radio, turns out it was an old Rolling Stones song.

OMG - Thats such a blatent rip off - I used to be a huge metallica fan but unlike Pearl Jam they do not get better with age. They have lost direction or are unsure where they are.

Here's to you PJ - for always being faithful to the music!
