Would have loved STBC, have yet to hear it. Well, whatever.... will happen sometime I guess"Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"0

I was blown away by pearl jam! The atmosphere was amazing and the setlist was brilliant. I think that people need to stop complaining about what they didn't play (there's only so much they can include) and take the experience for what it was and thank their lucky stars they got a ticket for the show
They're still going strong and I can't wait for Berlin next week

There were 2 songs left off the setlist. They were:
The End
Spin The Black Circle.
Carlsberg cost 6euro per pint. Yep its shit, but most pints in Dublin cost 5euro or more....we have to live with it so there;s not much more i can say. Food is generally overpriced here too in case nobody noticed....0 -

by the way guys I was talking to a friend last night and he told me that the guy who jumped off the balcony is a friend of a friend of his, and he only broke his arm. Of course he was drunk and it was the most stupid thing on earth to be jumping off a balcony, but at least we know now it's not true what they said, that he was paralised or something.Verona '00 | Dublin '06 | Barcelona '06 | London '07 | Copenhagen '07 | Berlin '09 | Dublin '10 | Belfast '10 | Berlin '10 | Toronto1 '11 | Toronto2 '11 | Amsterdam1 '12 | Stockholm '12 | Oslo '12 | Copenhagen '12 | Brooklyn1 '13 | Brooklyn2 '13 | Amsterdam1 '14 | Amsterdam2 '14 | Vienna '14 | Berlin '140

Fueled by tea and a couple of Kit Kats, I think it's time to write my fanview.
Although the noise from those frickin' vuvuzelas does distract me somewhat. (That's the third time I've complained about them today, so I'll stop now.) Or maybe it's the good looking guy next to me that keeps distracting me.
So, Pearl Jam in Dublin. In short, the whole experience was pretty darn-diddly-super-dupertastic. The pre-party, the people-seeing on the day of the show, the show itself.. All good.(Wasn't delighted to hear about the idiot guy who jumped down, but glad he's fine.)
During the show, we were on Mike's side of the stage. View was good enough, there was room to dance and people were polite (more or less), sound was grand as well. Some jerks around, but hey, that's rock'n'roll. Or so I hear. Mr McCready seemed to be having loads of fun. The funny dancing, the rolling about on the stage, not to mention the excellent guitarring - fantastic. It was nice to see Ed make a few visitations to our side of the stage too.
(It's taken me so long to write this thing that the footie match is already over.)
I have to say, I liked the setlist a lot. Nothingman, Better Man, Given to Fly, Small Town and UNTHOUGHT KNOWN!Possibly my favourite song from Backspacer, I had hoped the band would play it, of course they did and it sounded wonderful.
I'm not a big fan of Avocado, but the songs sound very good live. Same goes for songs from Backspacer. With Amongst the Waves though, I still like the lyrics more than the music, which doesn't make it an amazing live song for me.
Nice choices for cover songs this time, even though I wasn't previously familiar with Arms Aloft. (As far as I can remember at least.) I did like hearing my boyfriend and friend singing along and enjoying themselves.Never would have expected that and Kick Out The Jams to be busted out.
All in all, I loved the show. It was nice seeing Pearl Jam in Dublin again. And a new song!I'll have to hear Of The Earth again to be able to form a proper opinion about it, but so far so good.
"Don't be faint-hearted, I have a solution! We shall go and commandeer some small craft, then drift at leisure until we happen upon another ideal place for our waterside supper with riparian entertainments."0 -
Enjoyed the Dublin show but I much preferred last years concert at 02 London - I don't think anything else will be able to top that one for me0

It's been a crazy week so I have only just been able to post.
Dublin, what can I say, great city, great people. I was really made to feel welcome and thanks to the Holiday Inn for letting me check in at 9.30am!
As for the gig I had seated seats in block D. When long Road started everyone remained seated except for me and one or two others, by Why Go eveyone was up on their feet. I have never felt so much energy before it was amazing.
By the end everyone was chatting to each other and the general opinion was that it was a great show. The set list was ok, a little stop start but solid and the new song reminded me a touch of RVM, I loved it. It seemed to me that the band were generally supprised by the reception they got, the crowd were wild.
Of the mere six shows I have been to it was up there and I was considering ranking it number one, till I got to Belfast....0 -

thats good because i saw him hit the ground and it wasnt a pretty sight - i thought he was dead and drove the whole way home thinking someone had died, only to find out the next night that he was paralysed
so yeah - good to hear that only broke his arm

i just got home from my european jaunt where i only caught one (yes, ONE) pj show. i thought dublin was one of the most rockin' of my nine pearl jam shows, with only a handful of 'slow ones'. this was an energetic, balls-to-the wall show, unique from the others i've seen in the past. my personal highlights from this one were comatose (which i've been craving to catch live since first hearing crapshoot rapture), of the earth (because really, what's better than unexpected brand-new pj music?), and kick out the jams (since it's just an amazing heavy song).
in other words, i loved it!
oh and that pre-party was pretty fun too (maybe a little TOO fun).0 -
Dublin was my first ever Pearl Jam concert, despite being a life long fan, and wow!!! A night I will never forget, the last time they played Dublin I was out of the country and was raging when I found out they were going to be playing and I was not going to be there. Funnily enough I was suppose to be out of the country on holidays for this one too, but changed plans to be back for it (much to the dismay of my Gf for a while
Now I just want to go to another one!!!! Would love to see them in the states, Seattle or Boston!
Thanks for a great night PJ!!Drop the leash, Drop the leash........0 -
Wow, what an opener this show was! Dublin is a really great place for fun but Pearl Jam and this city are really fans of each other. It was loud, crazy, uplifting and exciting for the entire show. Ben Harper was really the opposite: slow, mellow and mostly dull, I am sorry...and in spite of the fact PJ is the best band in his opinion he still has no idea why: sitting on a chair and afraid to say an emphatic thank you, playing the very same setlist evening by evening is just so not PJish. Stereophonics should have been played but it might be only a dream to me.
The sound in the first half and the first few songs sounded rusty unfortunately but the vibe and the enthusiasm just let the show flow into a very high level near perfection.
We waved our Hungarian flags as many times as possible, Ed, Jeff, Boom and Stone nodded to and smiled at us a couple times, Monica next to me even got a bottle of mineral water from Ed right after he sipped of it.
I personally finally got Long Road after 10 shows (I knew/felt that), Porch was phenomenal as always,
Kick Out The Jams,
Unthought Known,
Down,
Nothingman,
Not For You,
Better Man and
Alive were the most outstanding performances in my opinion.
Stone seemed the most active and funniest rocker on stage to me, it's amazing how he always surprises us. But the rest of the band was on fire although the real flames got activated in Belfast the other night, that was even better than the Dublin show!!!
By the way Dublin was the first and only PJ show for me with earplugs on, the speaker on the right was so close to us the loudness was just painful but still, they rocked the shit out of the Point Depot. Security and organization was really great but the fact we weren't allowed to sit down at the front row is one of the dumbest thing of the year  , however they did not even checked my bag and pockets at the 10c entrance.

My wife's 1st show. We came all the way from South Africa, were in line by 04:20 and despite being 20 and 21 in the hand numbers and spending all day in line unfortunately got pushed out by later arrivals due to bad handling by O2 staff and only made it to the verge of Mike's end of the stage but at least in the front.
At first we were disappointed but it worked out well because Mike did a few solos right in front of us, we each got a pick from him, Ed saw our "Please come to South Africa" sign and gave me a pick in my hand!
Thank you Ed, Mike, Jeff, Stone and Matt
Please come to South AfricaThat strange spot in the sky was me from South Africa fly0 -

Unfortunately (for you) you stood behind and to the left of my wife and I. I was the tall guy with the long hair and black Pearl Jam t-shirt. Sorry about that but you got some great pictures and we only had a cell phone there.
Thank you! That strange spot in the sky was me from South Africa fly0 -
Ah what a night (well, week). I didn't know whether I was going to queue or not until I woke up at about 11am with the hangover from hell so that kinda ruled out queueing
Anyway, it was the other half's first show and now he's got backspacer in the car and is singing along and knows more words than I do. He finally gets it
. Even from being at the sound part (yep, we saw the aftermath of the stupid bollox who jumped, again spent ages worried if someone died or not) he could tell that Mike was a lot of fun on stage (yep, he's also much taller than me). I think it's a fair assumption that we'll be in the queue next time. Kim & Chris were good concert buddies.
Nothingman was the highlight for me since I hadn't heard it before.
Brilliant brilliant nightThe Astoria??? Orgazmic!
Verona??? it's all surmountable
Dublin 23.08.06 "The beauty of Ireland, right there!"
Wembley? We all believe!
Copenhagen?? your light made us stars
Chicago 07? And love
What a different life
Had I not found this love with you0 -
