Looks like a great set...down is awesome!
Hope all who attended enjoyed it!0 -
Just got back to the hotel!! Jesus christ what a great night, the crowd was just amazing (well done Dublin!) and the band seemed to be absolutely loving every second. That's just hit no.2 behind Astoria for me
The new song had a great groove to it, both verse and chorus. I thought maybe it drifted on a bit too long but overall very promising, to me it sounded more Avocado than Backspacer. I need to get some sleep now!! Feckin brilliant night... but I guess we always knew it would be

Ament singled out two other tracks as his current favorites. "One is called 'Of The Earth,' that's a song Ed wrote that is kind of a cross between early Peter Gabriel/ Genesis and Sleater-Kinney with, like, the Who's Live at Leeds or something.
According to this interview/article, Of The Earth is an Avocado outtake."I like beautiful melodies telling me terrible things" - Tom Waits

... didn't see anyone falling off the balcony, but I might have missed that... they played till 11pm sharp so that seemed like the curfew to me (no idea if that's actually true...) - Ed was talking about the curfew in the first encore... but I don't renember what he said exactly...Post edited by one_stone on0

So, how was the new song?0 -
Yep, someone fell from the balcony just beside me to my left. He fell into the sound desk area just at the end of YL and it was not good. I'm really hoping he was ok. Everyone on the crew around the sound desk was freaked especially the poor woman who seemed to be running the show there.
If anyone knows if he's ok I'd love to know, thanks.
Show was epic apart from the token sweaty american with his shirt off showing off his pearl jam tattoo doing actions to all the songs and high fiving at the end of every one, the long haired guy head banging his hair into my wifes face, the tone deaf guy singing in my ear and the token girlfriend of a guy who wasn't into the show, oh and the token beer spiller!!
What's a gig without all the cliche people around you!
Once, Nothingman, amongst the waves, unthought known, down and of the earth all highlights for me.
Looking forward to Belfast tomorrow.0 -
I also heard about someone falling from the balcony, but no idea what exactly happened there :(
Anyway: Good starter for this Euro tour with enough space to improve over the next couple of shows. The only really sad thing was that the sound was aweful where we stood (far left, roughly 10 rows from the front). Eddie sounded weird and the rest wasn't much better :(.0 -
I liked the new song ... was introduced by Ed with 'so new, it's not even a song yet... or something like that... it had not 'The single riff' that would make it stand out but it was full of energy, slow - fast - then slow again and loud, strong lyrics - I thought 'that might have fitted on ten or vs.' ... but that was just first impression... I have it on my camera here but no chance to upload it... sorry :(0

Thanks for responding. Extremely envious of you guys who were at concert. I hope you had good time.
Someone will do upload eventually. Cheers.0 -
Great gig, had a bunch of my friends with me, all know diff amounts of PJ material, all loved it. Finally heard Nothingman, (9 shows)!! I thought Just Breathe sounds gorgeous live, rocked my balls off to the GotSome-Comatose combo. The crowd really picked up for the encores, the 2nd encore particularly was just a half hour singalong marathon. Kick out the Jams sounds much better live than I expected too.
Loved the new song, it reminded me of In The Moonlight in a way, had a crunkin, funk beat to the riff, heavy & very long jam part, back to the riff, then a weird short soft outro with echo-ey guitar effects over it.
The Strummer cover was great too, must look the original song up, the guitar riffs were fantastic.
I liked that i was directly in front of Stone but could hear Mike's guitar 100% clearly. Bring on Belfast 2m! Sounded like Mike played a bit of the chorus of "Bad" during the YL close, aswell as Cowboy Song.
The new O2 is a bagillion times better than the Point ever was, even if it means we didnt get a "The Point?" joke this time round!Post edited by JordyWordy on0 -
Loved Long Road as opener, always a special song and for my first show it couldn't have been better. Highlights besides, the run of songs that ran through the middle of the main set, Nothingman, Even Flow, Unthought Known, Lukin, Not For You. The hits and Backspacer songs sounded great as did the new one. Porch was my single highlight of the night. Nice tribute to Joe Strummer (anyone after the original, it's on the posthumous Streetcore album )and Kick Out The Jams was unexpected too. Couldn't hear Ed's vocals for Comatose but I ain't complaining about anything. Hope to God the fan who fell is ok, we could see security trying to keep fans from standing at the barrier through the show but didn't know someone fell until now. Surpassed all my expectations as a show and the crowd energy was immense. Belfast has it's work cut out to top this.Like a book among the many on a shelf...
