There's a poor man in hospital right now and it didn't look good for him - he just bounced right off the awnings

Also to the ejits who think crowd surfing is cool - yes well, just remember that there happen to be girls and kids in the crowd who probably don't appreciate getting your big size nines right in their face

I have to say that seeing the man fall at the end of ledbetter really saddened the night for me - I hope he's alright

Please look after yourselves guys and enjoy the rest of the tour

So awful! I hope he's alright also, so sorry to read about this...

What ever happened to that guy that jumped from the 3rd balcony in Philly?? Were the people he landed on okay? (those were my seats the previous 2 nights... freaks me out a little bit still...)

What night did that happen? I was at Philly 2 & 4 and never heard that. After the show?

Just in from the pub - words cannot describe how much FUN I had! The audience were on fire, soooo sooo loud! I loved every single minute of it...

Mike Mcfuckin'Cready! The man was on fire tonight, bit of Thin Lizzy in YL... all over the new song... ah!

also, from what I had heard, all good news reported from security about the man that fell, but I am still very very worried for him and I hope he's ok. I didn't know anything about it till after the show :(

Closest I ever got to the stage at a PJ gig tonight. Long Road was great, funny it was only my 7th show but 3rd Long Road opener. I almost shit my balls when they launched into Once after Long Road, talk about a change! The 1st set whizzed by more than I ever felt that at a PJ gig before.

The sound was great after the first few songs as usual. I was Mikes side about 5 yards from the barrier and could hear everything, except BOOM!! I only remembered him when I saw him after Ledbetter, but it wasn't really a Boom heavy set anyway.

The crowd were on fire and loud. And that amazes me, as out of the 14000 heads or so there tonight, a fair portion of those would have been your usual corporate knob jockeys and posers who were just there to be there, which unfortunately Dublin shows are overpopulated with these days. But as for my own personal experience, nothing but nice people surrounded me at the show, no dickheads at all :o

The new song starts with a nifty groove that reminded me of the verse of Purple Haze (rhythmically speaking) but there were so many different themes in the tune, and a trademark McCready violining/delay part a la what he does on the outro of Black live. Ed asked the crowd if they wanted to hear a new song, and he reiterated he meant 'new', and the crowd went nuts!

Mike hinted at both Cowboy song by Lizzy and Bad by U2 in his Ledbetter outro, nice.

Ed mentioned a couple of times that they will be back sooner than previous, I know he gets caught up in the moment though and says this at most shows :D But I do believe the band were blown away by the venue, compared to what they're used to in Ireland. Ed even said tonight the old place was a shit hole, and the crowd cheered!

Did not know in the slightest that some poor guy fell off that high-ass balcony. I sincerely hope it is isn't as bad as I imagine and that what Jen heard is truth. No doubt that it will bring negative press on the band, even though it happened at the end of Ledbetter, the most chilled out closing song of any band! Just hope that the Joe Duffy minions don't get word of it, and that Mr. Unknown isn't badly injured.

Speaking of Jen, thanks deeply (once again, and probably not the last time!) for the ticket, and for having us play at the awesome pre party on Monday night. I have played a lot of gigs but sitting on a barstool in a room full of genuine PJ fans playing PJ tunes is a different experience all together! Plus, by you asking us to play, you set in motion the turn of events that lead to Ribsy meeting Ed!!! I'm amazed the world is still in existence after those 2 living legends shook hands

Now is time for respite, Belfast awaits. It can only be amazing once again. Good night all ;)

    Just like that crazy bastard.
  • Great gig thought the lads were on top form for the first gig of the tour.

Highlights for me were Just Breathe, Nothingman, Once, Better Man actually the whole set :D

Just Breathe is on the way to becoming a live legend.

Of The Earth sounded very good if it did seem to go on for a bit but that will be sorted over the tour and in the studio.

Anyone going to Belfast tonight. Enjoy

Great show, very rocking! It never really let up with the exception of Nothing Man (amazing) and Just Breathe. Porch sounded as if it was on steroids, the rest of the band didn't let up they kept ripping through the riff as Mike shredded like hell! Absolutely excellent version! I couldn't believe it when Ed says 'now it's time to.... KICK OUT THE JAMS!' twas sweet! The whole crowd were amazing, very energetic and between encores kept singing and chanting and shouting.

New song is pretty cool, couldn't really make out the lyrics from where I was but it rocked, had lots of different riffs that grooved and sounded more Ten - Vs. style riffing than most of their more recent rockers. It also had a long, rocking solo!
    JUST PLAY THE F***ING NOTE!!!

Crowd surfing at least 20 of them made it to the pit. Security on tight in front of EV for his protection. EV left the stage and ran to the left side but the crowd pushed thru the barricades and we | think we scared the shit out of him. Dublin crowds went crazy over Given to Fly even before they all got shit faced.

Not to sound too negative, but isn't this setlist quite "safe" compared to the East-US sets we saw earlier this year? 26-28 songs is a great length - but too standard songs imo. Although I see some feckin cool rarities.

(Just looking f.ex at the Boston show you see songs like push me, pull me, smile, soldier of love, reign o'me, pilate, sad, red mosquito, rival, crown of thorns etc etc... )

hope it changes in Berlin ;)

My mate was sittin just by that dude and my mate said he definitely jumped of his own accord!

I have to say that amongst is my fab backspacer tune and it was great to see it live but unthought is definitely the standout live track from B/S...amazing!

Also if alive was ever left off a setlist of a gig I was at I wouldn't be disappointed but last night was THE best version of alive I've ever seen, the energy between te ban and crowd was stunning :)

yet again we get a rare treat in Dublin!
    I need a coffee!

Without doubt the most amazing night of my PJ life. First of all got so close- Ten.C 3rd row just in front of Mike, surrounded by ladies, "hi" to Kim (US) Syl (Holland) and Eva (Denmark) and another Dutch girl, sorry cannot rem name). We all had a blast, really happy people up there.
Behind us was pretty hectic but we were all surprisingly comfortable till almost the end.
The first chords of "Long Road", what a moment!!!!
Great to be the first to hear the new song "Of the Earth", sounded really good, about 10 minutes long, good tempo changes and improv.
Been to great shows in Dublin 2000, and Paris, Holland and London but this was out of this world.
Thanks Eva for being up there high in the Ten/C queue and Syl for tempting me to stay up front and Kim.

Overall a superb show. Sound was fantastic where I was (mid-floor). Long Road was the 4th different opener for the last four Dublin shows, and beautiful. Great change of pace into Once. The main set was fantastic, with Down, Not For You and Nothingman real highlights. Of The Earth made a brilliant first impression, looking forward to hearing that on the boot. Vitalogy featured quite heavily, but unfortunately no No Code if I'm remembering correctly. We also got all of the Backspacer songs that I personally wanted to hear - Unthought Known, Got Some, Amongst The Waves and Just Breathe. Loved the little homage to Thin Lizzy in YL.

Crowd was good, but not as good as '06. I'd make a comment about parts of the balcony sitting down all night, but given that somebody fell from the balcony, probably better not to.

Lastly, the poster is cracking. Here's hoping for some No Code tonight.
When we found the things we loved,
They were crushed and dying in the dirt.
We tried to pick up the pieces,
And get away without getting hurt,
But they caught us at the state line,
And burned our cars in one last fight,
And left us running burned and blind,
    Chasing something in the night.

Sounds/looks like a great night for all of you lucky to attend. Of The Earth sounds very Yield to me ...just to add another opinion to the bunch! Yield with a Ten-jam sensibility. Bring on the rest of this vicarious tour :D .
