Crowd was good, but not as good as '06. I'd make a comment about parts of the balcony sitting down all night, but given that somebody fell from the balcony, probably better not to..

Arms Aloft just made me discover a great sounding Punk band, Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros, cool shit !
  • Dublin was my third show (all three have opened with Long Road kinda strange but I'm not complaining :)) and best so far. They seem to up it a notch every time I see them. What helped is I managed to get myself in a geat spot Mike's side and the sound was great. This was my first PJ (or other) show I have attended outside of England and I found the Dublin crowd were on fire. It was fantastic to look back at the balcony and see everyone on their feet at the beginning of the second encore and during Alive. It was so hot in there almost as bad as Manchester last year but the music helped me forget about that. I enjoyed the setlist and thought it was a good mix with 5 songs from Ten and 5 from Backspacer and a nice sprinkling of Vitalogy. I hope they kept the curfew because I'm certainly going to try and get out to Dublin next time! I also hope the guy who fell is recovering.

Enjoy Belfast those who are going. I'm heading off to London tommorow can't wait for Friday!

Good to hear. Probably just a small section so.

Where my seats were, no-one was sitting!
When we found the things we loved,
They were crushed and dying in the dirt.
We tried to pick up the pieces,
And get away without getting hurt,
But they caught us at the state line,
And burned our cars in one last fight,
And left us running burned and blind,
    Chasing something in the night.

Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river

looks like Ames Bros finally got an artist with talent after a long drought of garbage kiddie posters
  • Great photos! I'm not an expert on the PJ posters and I know they are a huge thing round here but did it not seem quite small at Dublin? I mean length and width wise. Don't get me wrong I like the design but they seem smaller than last year.

Amazing show, great energy from the crowd (my t-shirt was fully soaked after 3 songs) and the band played tight.
Setlist was good. I would have wanted something like Present Tense or SOLAT but I don't complain since we got a a new song. Also Nothingman is one of my favourite so I was really pleased to hear it.
Quite a bit of pushing in the front rows but as usual in a rock concert.
The venue is really nice ... however that story from a guy falling from the balcony is scary. I didn't notice anything at all.
Poster is sick ... this one will deserve a nice frame.
Belfast was not on my tour list so now I just wait for tomorrow in London.
  • I will probably get bagged for saying this, but I felt the concert was an "underwhelming" experience overall. We travelled from Perth to catch some European events so really using the Perth 2009 show as a comparison. The 02 venue is fantastic and in fact the best ever venue I have been too for sound, lack of line ups, clean toilets and the most amazing access I have ever seen. Pearl Jam played an energised and heavier show than previous outings and as individuals they nailed it. At breakfast the following day my partner said to me, " I just didnt feel the love" and it was "workman like". I couldnt agree more and whilst the music was first rate there was a lack of audience interaction and I felt that the wildy enthusiastic Irish audience were shortchanged as the band certainly didnt reciprocate what they were being thrown. What an amazing crowd and venue!

At the Perth concert we left with a buzz, but this one it was all about effiency and getting the job done. The heavier more fast playing set list saw Mike play a much lesser role than the Perth show. He was certainly into it but was somewhat restrained solo wise, although being able to see the roadie holding up the 59 strat signalled he would sign off with YL.

Nevertheless Pearl Jam are like sex, pizza and beer and even when it isnt the best experience of your life it is still pretty darn good. I really wanted to write that this was the best Pearl Jam concert I have been too but that would be a lie.
Some more dates to come and as another poster said, some space for improvement. Loved Dublin, the friendly people and the vibe and hopefully the economic mess can be cleaned up and the Celtic Tiger makes a more modest return.

He didn't fall, he climbed over and jumped into the crowd.

Not to sound too negative, but isn't this setlist quite "safe" compared to the East-US sets we saw earlier this year? 26-28 songs is a great length - but too standard songs imo. Although I see some feckin cool rarities.

(Just looking f.ex at the Boston show you see songs like push me, pull me, smile, soldier of love, reign o'me, pilate, sad, red mosquito, rival, crown of thorns etc etc... )

hope it changes in Berlin ;)

Seriously people.....you got a brand new Pearl Jam song as well as a never before played cover on top of Kick Out The Jams, how can you be dissapointed?!?!?!? Every Pearl Jam show is great but when you get some great nuggets like these included you really should show a little more gratitude, especially when there are so many fans that probably won't get to hear some of these tracks in person.
