The subject title of this thread is an outright joke. Presales are a "priviledge". L O L. A) Are you insane?
it's "privilege"
While no one is guaranteed a ticket... one of the biggest selling points of joining the 10C is for special pre-public sales for tours. That most certainly is not a privilege.
Here is a re-print of the benefits of 10C membership, as presented on this website:
MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS
1.Our promise to do our darndest to get you the absolute BEST tickets in the house to Pearl Jam shows around the world.
2.Access to Ten Club members-only merchandise like limited edition silk-screened posters from Pearl Jam tours.
3.A holiday 45 RPM vinyl single with songs not found anywhere else.
4.Pearl Jam's full-color printed DEEP Magazine mailed to you
5.Full access to the Pearl Jam Online Community
6.Members-only contests and giveaways
So you are right in one sense, there is no guarantee of tickets. On the other hand, they are specifically selling you on the premise of access to concert tickets; tickets that are the "best in the house". It's the No. 1 reason for god's sake. And when you pay the $20, and feel that they in turn didn't reciprocate w/ their "darndest" foot forward, for what you already paid for - you have a a RIGHT to be upset.
But to say presales are a privilege? haha. Are you really forking over the $20 for a once-a-year "magazine"? Don't be silly... 10C knows what they are ultimately selling, and its what almost every fan is ultimately buying.Camden - 5/28/06; Camden - 6/20/08; MSG - 6/25/08; Newark - (Ed Solo) 8/7/08; Philly - (Ed Solo) 6/12/09; Philly - 10/30/09; Philly - 10/31/09; Newark - 5/18/10; MSG - 5/20/10; MSG - 5/21/100 -
Also, is it just me, or if they actually did a real tour of the US we wouldn't have this problem? Or.....at least, the high demand shows would have a little less demand. Right?
I don't think so. Its all about marketing. Doing shows this way creates more of a demand, which inflates the ticket prices, which equals more money all around. We (10c) are the consumers who go crazy for this shit. Tickets, limited edition sports tees, artist prints, etc."he who forgets-will be destined to remember"0 -
I have to admit that I have been a huge fan forever, but the reason I joined TC only recently was for the ticket access. Glad I scored Boston today; my sincere sympathy to those shut out, guess i was pretty lucky. How I choose to feel is how I am.0

adspj wrote:Agreed!!! Every other thread this week is bitching about ticket presales! Nowhere does the 10C state it is your RIGHT to buy tickets early. Besides, I have tried for every presale over the last 2 days and not had any problem scoring them within the first 10-15 minutes (even Boston and MSG I & II). And yes I let them go back into the pool, I just like to keep my 'skills' ready for when the boys are coming by me and I will be fighting with the wolves for real.
Now can everyone just shut up and accept the fact that they have to get tickets during the PUBLIC or from someone on the boards at a later date?! So tired of all these stupid threads of everyone pretending they are tech gurus and offer suggestions to fix the system
Wow, I hope you're joking!! Because that REALLY sucks!!! Do you just not get it at all or are you just trying to make enemies??? Ignorance is bliss, this proves it!!"Please help me to help you, help yourself." EV0 -
I'm no computer expert, but it shouldn't take 4 hours to display a "Sold Out" sign during an online ticket sale in 2010. That's not supply and demand, that's bullshit.0
-
For the first time in god knows how long, i got shut out of a presale. Both MSG's. I was angry, but not entitled. PJ can shut it all down tomorrow, and then you can go kiss ticketbastards ass for seats. It is what it is, you get what you get, so don't get upset. I will be sucking ticketturds ass for my msg shows, next time I will just have to try harder. Suck it, Pansies!!!!0

Some thoughts... and questions for those who may be in the know...
1st.. a question:
most of theses posts speak of supply/demand... which is true. So my question is this:
Why do Pearl Jam only reserve a certain amount of tickets at these venues? I'm not bitching, just curious as to the reason or validity behind why this is.
Some people on here are harpin' aboot people who only join ten club to get pre sale tickets and that those who belong to the 'pearl jam' community are somehow more important and the only people who 'get the band'. There is no way around that. You will always have people join the club for this purpose... 10c's moral answer to that is the seniority system... which is good.
That said... $20 per member... you're allowed presales, you get a record, and a couple magazines... it's worth it, I admit. But between the fees for the 10c, the album sales.. historically, the constant sold out shows, MERCHANDISE, you cannot tell me the band (and by the band i mean everyone involved) don't make a lot of profit. Therefore, why can't they invest in a larger server to accommodate the massive amount of internet traffic.
The Pearl Jam Fan... is a special thing. Not necessarily a good one. People on here will state: "Don't bitch and moan, you have the choice not to buy tickets.. and blah blah blah" Pearl Jam fans don't believe that. They're like cigarettes. Sometimes bad and almost ALWAYS hard on the wallet... but addictive. And without us, Pearl Jam perhaps wouldn't be making music still.. or at least wouldn't be as relevant. I cannot imagine what it would be like to be one of the greatest American rock bands of all time and have the kind of following Pearl Jam does. They take of us, but their is NO DENYING that we TAKE CARE OF THEM TOO. If you don't believe that.. refer to some of the threads about how much money people have spent through the ten club alone. It's a give and take relationship... and this ticket situation seems like it should be fixed by the ten club or pearl jam.
Cheers.

but there arnt too many other bands that even give their fanclubs the opportunities that Pearl Jam does. And I, for one, am thankful for it!
This is not true. Most bands with fan clubs give their members presale opportunities.
I am usually on the side of telling people not to whine because I believe persistance pays off and there are too many people who quit after a half hour and come here to bitch.
But many people in this thread make the valid point that it should be run better so it says sold out and people can move on with their day. In the old days of standing in line, it didn't take seven hours to find out the show was sold out."We're fixed good, lamp-wise."0 -

You finally made sense to me Snoopy... I can finally agree with you on something ...

You can have the ticket page and your cart opened up in two separate tabs.
If you want to check your cart just go to that tab and hit update. If there's
something in there it will show up. Then all you have to do is click checkout.
"DO NOT LOGIN USING MULTIPLE COMPUTERS!!!!! This creates a bottle neck of web traffic which can result in site failure and loss of ticket order. We can not stress this one enough." tenclub
isn't being logged in twice on two seperate tabs the same thing??
Not MULTIPLE COMPUTERS!!! Different TABS, not COMPUTERS!!! It's still only logged under ONE BROWSER!!0 -

They don't reserve. They get a certain number of tickets allocated to them by the promoter/venue. Sometimes these allocations may be a bit more generous than other times.
A few years back in London, they had the whole floor (GA standing). I seem to recall they were selling the tickets until either they ran out and, if there were any left over after the cut-off date, they went back to the promoter. Anyone correct me if I am wrong.0 -
Ya know what pisses me off the most is that I live an hour fucking away from msg and got shutout cause of a piss poor server. What really pisses me more off is people from all over this fucking world got tix but tons of local people got shutout. I'd like to know just how many true new yawkers got tix. I'm talking people that worn born or raised here. If this happens next tour I'm done with buying tickets from the 10c and will get em from ticketmaster or a ticket broker. Least those servers won't crash and I won't get a temporarily out of stock for 4 hours. Also can ed stop with the hometown show act cause we all know that isn't true anymore. Its so fake to hear 20,000 people clap and cheer for that when 70% of MSG is out of towniers.
End rantRon: I just don't feel like going out tonight
Sammi: Wanna just break up?0 -
people from Sydney have just as much right to attend the shows as someone who lives next door. There is no right to attend because you live in the district. Grow up.0

Your city is what it is because of the "Out of towners"
Kinda funny how you give people grief all day about the ridiculous threads, and then you start one of your own.

i'd give much credit to the Op here for putting out a constructive post on the subject....so many others come across as little whiners.....
But i genuinely feel there is no perfect system out there, because there are limited tickets and more members there will always be disappointment, however I would agree the time thing could be reduced
But in my opinion - the time isnt an issue to me, I would invest as much time as needed - even if I failed, because i know how good those shows would be0
