We sat on the main level platform 1/2 way up & on the right side that night. We got in right before PJ went on so they didn't bring us all the way down by the stage.
Beating a defenseless man in a wheelchair, I'm sickened

I saw a guy in a wheel chair with a blonde lady that was on the left side in the corner of the barrier in front of Jeff....I wonder if that was the same guy?

Its so sad and such a senseless act....
My love and thought to him and his g/friend .... xx

it makes me sick to the stomach, the fact these wankers will be given a cushy little punishment 'rehabilitated' and let back out to live their lives. (topical at the moment with the news in the Uk about the horrible bastard that tortured Jamie Bulger)

Revenge benefits no one, but a good beating is the only thing that would teach idiots like this - i think they perhaps need to feel the pain they seem to enjoy inflicting on others.

The fact that this guy was in a wheelchair just beggers belief, if you are reading this my friend, I wish you a speedy and full recovery.

What a terrible story!

My best wishes to him for a full and speedy recovery.

I have just read on his Facebook page that his operations were successful and he is conscious and has been able to speak to his girlfriend and mother.

Please consider helping us get him a great get well soon card. A lot of you would have met him at the West Coast shows last year and the Australian shows. viewtopic.php?f=4&t=125003
• friends of the attackers are claiming it was self defence. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? Two fully able guys beating on a wheelchair-bound person with metal bars is self defence?

Canadian beaten in Australia recovering

A 35-year-old Manitoba man is recovering from surgery in Sydney, Australia, after he was beaten severely late Tuesday night.

Heath Proden suffered a fractured skull and deep cuts during the beating, which happened at a train station northeast of the city at about 11 p.m. local time. He underwent surgery to relieve pressure on his brain.

Closed-circuit television cameras at the station recorded video of Proden, who uses a wheelchair, being stomped on by two young men, who also hit him on the head and body with metal bars, including one from his wheelchair.

Police have charged two boys, aged 15 and 16, with intent to cause bodily harm and armed robbery.

Both have been denied bail and are expected to remain in custody pending future court dates.

Suspects claim self defence

A friend of the suspects has told police that Proden had harassed them and that they were acting in self defence, reporter Phil Mercer told CBC News

Police on Wednesday said the beating "appeared to be a random act."

Proden, who is from Winnipeg Beach, has been living in Australia with his girlfriend, Kristin Sharrock, since November. He was on his way home from seeing a Canadian band play at a bar when he was attacked at a commuter rail station.

Proden's grandmother, Vivian Proden, said he has used a wheelchair since breaking his back in a snowmobile accident in 2000.

"He's a kind, generous, strong individual," Sharrock said Wednesday, fighting back tears. "He doesn't deserve what's happened to him."

An Australian travel company has offered Proden's mother, Shellan Proden, a free ticket from her home in Winnipeg to visit her son.

Sorry, but I have to completely disagree with this sentiment. Lock them up and throw the key away (and even if they get a light sentence, that is no reason to take matters into our own hands). Eye for an eye is not the answer.

It's just so horrible, disgusting, and sick to my stomach.
The teenagers should be punished for what they did to him.
Can't imagine how heartbreaking his mom was.
My thoughts go out to him & have a speedy recovery.
• man this is really terrible. bastards. i saw him in seattle and I think LA.

here is my picture of him and his incredible moment with Ed is Seattle. Happier Times.

Get Better Man.

Thanks so much for posting this.
This is when Heath was handing Ed the Wishlist scrapbook that was made by everyone at the preparty.
Ed threw Heath a tambourine back after taking the scrapbook. (Heath also snagged a second at one of the LA shows)
Seeing him launch out of his chair onto the rail to give Ed the scrapbook really makes me smile. It shows the kind of fan he is.
It was a great moment...... I had a blast with him at those shows. We just chatted with him last week on Facebook. I still can't believe this happened to Heath. I'm still torn up!

Sure, this is right, absolutely but the whole notion of the pampered state, the do gooders who behold rehabilitation drive me up the wall....animals like this are not cured. This has been shown time and time again. They are scum. I have zero respect for them.....and my post which i admit i made on the spur of the moment was motivated by that fucking moron who butchered that little boy all those years ago - the same fucking moron who is back in side - at taxpayers expense. Why he is still breathing is beyond me....yet we are going to pay £250,000 to give him another identity and another start in life. Justice....yeah right.

yep, I agree with you. But unfortunately it's the best, nay, ONLY, solution we presently have as a society that still seperates us from the animals.

Hey, when I first read about this, don't you think my first thought was getting my hands on a metal pipe and beating the living shit out of those two as well? I don't think a human being can be called normal if they don't have that reaction. But I think it becomes a problem when we verbalize it to others. Inciting violence is not a difficult thing to do, so I'm very wary of saying such things to others, especially in an open forum like this.

Peace bro. I know how you feel.

i know i know, what you say makes perfect sense.....its just frustrating that the system seems to fail the victim so badly in these cases.

But then again ask me for a better system and Im sure i couldnt give you one. Some would say society has failed some of these idiots in the first place leading them to do what they do...I dont always agree but there may be some merit in that.

Its a tough one, and the knee jerk reaction is to want them to hurt too....but yeah i agree, its wrong, that would make us just the same.
• The article in the Globe & Mail today mentions him having met his girlfriend at PJ show in Seattle.

This whole self defense thing would laughable if it wasn't so infurating (sp?). Karma should revisit those punk ass bastards.
• I am truly sorry for this petty crime. I hope the children involved in this get what they deserve.
I am also saddened to read what people think when they hear the word Australia. Please don't think we are all violence and so on.
Sending positive vibes for a speedy recovery!!!

It is kind of strange you say that cause 15 years ago today there were 35000 of us to see PJ at Eastern Creek & Mt Druitt was the closest station the raceway. Ok it is not a nice area but he went to see a band at a club. The sister of one of attackers said he provoked them, BOLLOCKS!
