A friend of mine was working on a windmill, he said all the motors and generators are made in either Mexico, china, or Brazil.

So how does that create jobs? It creates temp construction jobs and maybe a few maintenance but again no manufacturing.

how would building new factories and waiting for us to manufacutre the parts expedite the process? to my eyes, it would be faster to get people back to work building the mills and at the same time getting factories built to begin manufacturing these necessary parts. why delay it when we can import the parts to get the ball rolling and get some people back to work?

why create 0 jobs when we could create 2 which could eventually lead to five or more?

jobs are jobs and people need JOBS. i'm not going to debate semantics with you. either we create some jobs, or we don't...

I just don't believe our US stimulus plan that is funded by the taxpayers of this country should create jobs overseas when they could be creating jobs for Americans.

well what are you gonna do about it? i told you it would take years to build factories, why not import the parts and get people back to work immediately and build the factories while they are working on infrastructure??

    abso-fucking-lutely!!

personally I don't see it as a difficult issue. Check this out...

If a company keeps 80% of their workforce and operations in the US = tax breaks.

If a company keeps 80% of their workforce and operations outside the US = penalties.

obviously this is an over simplification, but you get the idea.

You know we used to build this stuff, motors, generators, etc. I'm guessing a full factory build would not be required. Update some things and get to work, let's get Americans building America again.

i will tell you that the ford plant that was here is now gone. it was bulldozed and its a parking lot for the airport now. the chrysler plant is closed here now, and there is talk that that is going to be demolished as well. the factories that are downtown are all unkept and are probaly violating codes of some sort, so its not like you can go in there, turn on the lights and fire up the machinery like nothing ever closed down before..

Enough of the EXCUSES, Bunning was not trying to cut the deficit, nor does he care about your grandchildren having to pay for the deficit.

    - Bunning knows this extension will get approved. Bunning's one and only point was to stick it to President Obama, Pelosi and Reid on his way out the door.

    - Bunning didn't give a damn about the PEOPLE who would be affected by 'his personal, vindictive action'. It's not just the unemployed, its also hard working taxpayers who will lose part of the income because of furloughs. Furloughs equal no taxes being paid into the deficit because no income is being generated.

-Bunning forgot to tell all the people that HE, his family and his fellow Republican senators/representatives and their families would not get furloughed, would not have to dip into their savings, would not have to make scarfices until the bill is extended because Bunning and company aren't affected by this extension, they will all get their PAYCHECKS on time and in full.

This self promotion, self preservation and just plain selfishness has reached a new level. Our so called elected officials don't care about the American people, it has become all about them trying to screw President Obama, Pelosi and Reid at any cost and regardless of the harm to the American public. It's not limited to the Republicans, the so-called conservative Dems are a party to this selfishness also.

I haven't read all the other posts, but I agree with you 100%. Where was this asshole when all the OTHER spending comprising "the debt that will be paid by our grandchildren" was voted on and approved? Seems to me he must have been around during the previous two Bush administrations. Why wasn't he holding up all that spend on "rebuilding" Iraq - not to mention the war itself. What's worse is that he screwed people over at the beginning of the month, when most have to pay rent/mortgage. Being late with those payments can be pricey and cost money that those folks don't have to begin with.

I couldn't have put it any better than you did.

wait....hold the fuck up. which administration exactly are you talking about? when bush took office there was a record surplus, which he turned into a record deficit.
