The Black Crowes---Help

I stand corrected. Looks like it was basically the same band, including Paul Stacey. Looks like the general consensus on the interweb is that TMD is superior to NEM, but I'm going to find out for myself.

Didn't Audley Freed play TMD?

It's the best out of 3, but they all sound like halfassed Crowes to me. They all have some highlights, but Rich has a vanilla voice and Chris writes vanilla music on his own.

I kind of feel the same way. Those two definitely benefit from having the other around.

Audley did play on NEM, but not on TMD, from what I can tell. Respecting the opinions of others who don't like it as much, I really can't stop listening to it. I think TMD is a fantastic record.

I watched Cabin Fever again today. Anyone seen a spot on the web where you can find audio-only versions of the performances from the DVD? I'd love to have the audio files to listen to in the car.

It is fantastic. As is Little Lizzie Mae.

As far as ripping the audio, I am sure there are plenty of freeware programs to use, but I've never done it. Most of the tracks on the DVD are the same as what are on the CD outside of Oh Sweet Nuthin', Little Lizzie Mae, Dolphins and Shady Grove. At least they sound exactly the same to me.

It is that track, Lizzie Mae, and Dolphins that I want the most. Sweet Nuthin' or whatever it's called is insanely good.
I'll have to listen more closely, but I felt there were differences in some of the songs between the DVD and the album. Again, not sure on this, but I remember feeling like I heard some different things. Maybe I was just wanting to hear differences even when they weren't there.

I am so pumped for the new material, per the band's site. As stated earlier in this thread, I will be following Los Crowes around next time they tour, at least for a few dates...

Audley played on TMD and the following tour, according to his wiki and my somewhat hazy memory of the liner notes. I remember readin that he played and being kinda stoked that another Crowe was playin with him.


I'd like to have the extra songs from the dvd and I think Good Morning Captain is a different take. I think the slide guitar at the very end is a bit longer in the dvd.

I also think the dvd is mixed better.

EDIT: for those with an emusic account Rich had a live album with his solo stuff on it, too. "Live at the Knitting Factory"

as for the above conversation of pearl jam vs black crowes, its a draw to this fella. both in my top 5 of currant bands.
both bands are fantastic live shows, never the same setlist twice.
both have been putting out great tunes since day one. the records have been showing growth from one the next.
both do it there own way.


...and dcfaithful, the hoodie isnt that great, my front patchs looked abit odd.

Another tour?! Awesome. I would love to catch another Crowes show.

Thanks for the info on the hoodie. I didn't really want to chance $65 on something I couldn't see and actually try on.
