Maybe some think their "peak" was in the Amorica days, but after Warpaint and Before the Frost..., I'd have a hard time being told they weren't at the top of their game still after 20 years.

Dude...I couldn't have said it better myself.

Lookin' forward to the Freak N' Roll people. Let's all get out there and see them off the best way that we can.

if you're not already aware of it, Steve Gorman's podcast is pretty cool and pretty funny if you appreciate deadpan unintentional humor. go to www.stevegormansports.com

in this week's podcast, he talks about record store day, vinyl in general, napster's effect on his royalties (humorous), breaking his arms, and a short blurb on the new tour dates.

We may possibly switch up Portland for Vegas, but I'm hesitant to do so because the SLC show is electric only, and so is the Vegas. Going to Portland would be my only chance to catch the 3 hour show with 1/2 of it being acoustic. Although Vegas would be more affordable. :?

Which ever one you end up being at, I think it would be a grand idea for us to enjoy a beer together. :)

Didn't realize all that jive with the different venues. Portland it is! I have to see the epic half and half show. I think I can handle a beer... or two.

Awesome! and yes, I didn't realize it either until I questioned the asterisks on the table of tour dates via their website.

Seeing that this may be my last opportunity for quite some time, I have to indulge in every ounce of epicness.

    Nice!

They are going with some kind of VIP ticketing package this tour. I registered for updates when they become available. Wonder how this will work.

Thought I'd drop in and let all fellow Amoricans know that Jen and I made the commitment and we will be headed to San Francisco for some of the shows on their closing 6 night stand in December.

    And the band played on...

I'd love to do that but I'm 2000 miles away. Oh well, I plan on hittin the standard(for me) St Lou show at the Pageant, and it looks like the Ryman too. The wifey was checkin out dates. The Crowes are tops for her and everyday she complains about this indefinite hiatus, so maybe we do somethin crazy....Who knows??

If you wanna do something crazy, hit up the Fillmore shows with me. The indefinite hiatus is the entire reason I convinced the g/f to go.

After posting a thread about the Fillmore on the Crowes forum, some people are giving me the impression that it's going to be a great two nights with a lot of energy, history in the venue, and some great tunes. can't wait!

Never been to the Fillmore either. 8-)

really kicking myself for not getting into these guys earlier...dont think theres any chance i'll get to see them now being in Australia and being to broke to make the trip to the US.....and they were only here 2 years ago :(

I too regret not getting into them earlier.

I only started listening to them last year when I bought the new album on a whim, and have totally fallen in love with them.

Pretty upset there's a high possibility I'll never get to see them live, being here in the UK.

I doubt it'll be indefinite. It may be an extensive hiatus, but the Black Crowes are too much of a fabulous band to hang it up forever. Give it some years, let them grow...they'll be back. You'll be able to see them, and you'll then know how truly amazing this band is.

I've only seen them twice, but last time...it was spiritual for me -- truly one of the best atmospheres, vibes, energy...all that stuff. The Crowes embody rock and roll...no question.

So how are these upgrade packages working? I read the release but don't get it. Is it something we select when buying the tickets?

I'm not going to do that, but who knows, I may change my mind at sale time.

This tour will be the 5th time I have caught them. The first time in 92 or 93 had so much rockin' energy I couldn't believe it. And the show last year in Portland just showed absolutely top-notch musicians at the peak of their song-writing and showmanship abilities. Luther!!! They just kick so much ass. If someone told me that all I could ever listen to again was PJ and the Crowes, I'd be ok with that.

I felt the exact same way about the SLC show last November, they really really brought it. Amazing performance from every member. Chris has some of the sweetest live vocals ever. His improvisation and change of delivery is so exciting to me.

God damn, waiting for the three shows I'm going to be seeing is brutal.

A buddy and me are very much so contemplating making the trip to Eagle (Boise) to see that one too.

Picked up a pair of tix for "An Evening with The Black Crowes" at The Riverside Theatre in Milwaukee today, pretty happy 'bout that. The VIP pit tix were already sold out by the time I could get to my computer though (about an hour after they went on sale). Oh well, still a great venue and it should be awesome for this historic occasion.

Today on Sirius channel 16, the DJ said there was going to be a Faces reunion and that Chris Robinson was going to be the lead singer for the North American tour dates? Googled it, and couldn't find anything really. I would love to see Chris up there w/ Woody! Anybody else hear anything? I hope this isn't just ANOTHER rumor...

There is an entire thread on crowesbase.net dedicated to that rumor. Me thinks it's true.
