Damn. I just bought Before the Frost...; for some reason I delayed the purchase (I was a bit skeptical of the album), but Holy Hell! What a great album!

Rich's song, "What is Home?" is absolutely phenomenal. Can't get enough of it.

That song was one of the highlights of when I saw them in November supporting this album.

I still reminicse about that night quite often. What a fantastic show it was.

Fantastic..... I couldn't, in good conscience, replace Page and the doubleneck.

Per your above post.....You do know they sell their shows online right?

And yeah, they were amazing when I seen them in November at the Pageant in St Lou....Standin dead center about 5 deep...Luther in one ear, Rich in the other, as a guitar player it was the best spot in the house. THE BEST LIVE SOUND OF ANY BAND I'VE EVER SEEN.

Page did make a recording with the Crowes. :D

You aren't kidding about the sound of their live shows. I was right infront of Sven, off to Chris' right. Just such a great show all around. Was cool to watch Chris dance and see the whole band just enjoying themselves. Luther can really play, and his strumming hand is interesting to watch, I don't think he uses a pick. :?

I did know about the online shows, but hadn't checked in a while. Thanks for the reminder!

The liveblackcrowes.com recording of the Dallas show back in October is one of the worst recordings I've ever heard. Its weird. Chris's vocals and the piano are way, way high in the mix and you can barely hear the guitars. I hate it.

    Oh, well.

They can get it right next time.

if you are going to get a livecrowes.org show, try the acoustic gigs 11/3-4 from NYC. fantastic shows.
but they have plenty to pick from on the the site, so happy hunting.

and deweycox, it sounds like we might have been neighbors at the show, i was standing in that area also.

Do they have recordings from their early tours? I saw them open for ZZ Top, it must have been in early 92 or late 91, before they got kicked off  . I'm just recently getting back into them and would love to get some of the early live stuff.

I have a boot from '94 in London...that's as early as I have. I think the frequent names in this thread know where to find some older Crowes boots though.

You can go to liveblackcrowes.com. They have an archive there but it only seems to go back to 1996.

Probably the best early boot is one that came from a radio recording. It is called High in Houson. Its from 1993 and the sound quality is excellent. Killer show too!!

Another good early boot is called Hard to Handle. Its from 1991 I think. And there is a third called Darlings of the Underground Press which is half acoustic and half electric and it is also from 1991.

Both of those are radio recordings too and very good quality.

If you are familiar with torrents these three are pretty easy to find. Highly recommended.
