gotta love a good portion of Flyers fans - win a game and all you can talk about is no fights - it's not 1974 anymore. drives me crazy sometimes the or-gan-i-zation and fans insist on trying to carry on the legacy of 1974-1975.

i don't mind a game without fights. it was more along the lines of the game didn't have alot of energy to it. there was no edge if you will.

yea but when 2 guys know they're being traded right after the game it def. makes for a weird situation

not to mention 5 new guys who barely had anytime to practice

perfect timing for the flyboys last night

that being said you still have to take care of business

    Hopefully they dont overlook EDM

I can't remember the last time the conference only had 2 teams that were out of it

Even at that CAR has been playing well and creeping back into it

All Ears: Flyers Listening to Deal for Kovalchuk

    Monday, February 1, 2010
    By Tim Panaccio
    CSNPhilly.com

CALGARY, Alberta — Dion Phaneuf is off the market. Ilya Kovalchuk is still there.

And the Flyers are listening to what Atlanta has to say about the Russian sniper.

Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren was on his cell phone Monday morning at the Pengrowth Saddledome, conceivably looking for a trade partner.

"We might want to still do something on defense and forward, but not in goal," Holmgren said.

One NHL executive said that the Flyers have had intermittent talks with Atlanta over Kovalchuk.

Atlanta General manager Don Waddell met with Holmgren at last week’s game and discussed matters. Waddell scouted the Flyers himself on Saturday during the Isles game but did not meet with Holmgren, the source said.

"Find one winger, one defenseman that adds up to what Kovalchuk makes and the Flyers could do this deal," the source said.

The Flyers think Kovalchuk will want between $9 and $9.5 million on a re-signing and because of that salary, they couldn’t afford Kovalchuk long-term.

The Rangers, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles and the Flyers are in the mix, but the source said the Flyers don’t think they can make a Kovalchuk deal any more than they could have done a deal for Phaneuf.

The source repeated nothing was imminent, but that the Flyers are willing to hear everything Waddell has to say.

Holmgren would not comment on his discussions with Calgary or Atlanta.

"Doesn’t do anyone any good and it should be confidential," he said.

The Flyers could create instant cap space with one move — trading Jeff Carter. That’s not going to happen, the source said. Carter is one of the few Flyer top forwards, who doesn’t have a no-trade clause.

ATLANTA IS LOOKING TO RAPE SOMEONE

great player but his price is gonna be WAY to high

not to mention the 10 million per year he wants

a guy like ray whitney is much more appealing to alot of teams

    Kovalchuk
    Kovalchuk

The New Jersey Devils have won the Ilya Kovalchuk sweepstakes, acquiring from the superstar winger from the Atlanta Thrashers on Thursday night, a source close to the deal told ESPN.com.

The Devils have struggled of late, especially scoring goals. Veteran Devils GM Lou Lamoriello didn't hesitate, swooping in and acquiring the biggest rental player available on this year's trade market.

Kovalchuk will be an unrestricted free agent July 1 and contracts talks with the Thrashers hit a stalemate recently.
    This sucks big time balls.

looks like we got jobbed again on Scottie's goal last night. Ok, so maybe it was difficult to tell if it was across the line, but that was a goal. no doubt about it. even the NJ annoucers thought it was.

nice to see them win back to back agaist Jersey....even with Jersey playing like crap lately.
