just watched it once, but:

picture quality is amazing, cool camera angles, doesn't cut to a different shot every half second (like a certain band's Italy DVD...) reminds me a lot of the Last Waltz in terms of film quality...maybe also cuz Caleb is rockin a beard like 1970s Eric Clapton

songs sound GREAT....songs from the first album sound SOOOOO much better here....he actually SINGS the words in an understandable way instead of shrieking them like he does on the first album...its like the songs of the first album with his singing voice of the latest album

the band sounds amazing, like they have improved light years since the first album...Red Morning Light in particular kicks ass!!!

and it has Cold Desert on it....what more do you need to know?

meh. kol have sold out for me. if i see this on tv i'll watch it; i don't think i'll buy it though.
Beavis: All my friends are brown and red? What does that mean?
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
    Butthead: Huh huh.

I might get this. I got into KOL after seeing them open up for The Strokes in '03. Their last album was good, but my least fav. Because Of The Times is my fav album from them, then probably Youth & YOung Manhood.

  • "California Waiting" could be released today and be a huge hit. The band has always had catchy rock songs.

i am one of their biggest supporters but their new album was too "catchy" for me and it was too soft sounding. i think Caleb's co writer was given more say this time around. and if California waiting was so "Catchy" then why did'nt it "Catch" on!! haha. if you think their sound and direction has'nt changed attend a live show these days. it is a bunch of 15 year olds and the only thing they know is Crap on Fire and Use Somebody!

becos the record company they had then wasn't pushing them like they are now. and from what i understand, california waiting and kol WERE pretty huge overseas, they just had no backing here.

as to the show, that is so tired. i saw them last halloween and there was not a single person there under 18. it was a packed house and everyone there knew all the words to all the songs. oh yeah, and they had GIRLS there (in slutty halloween costumes ;)). i'm not going to fault them for releasing an album with a lot of soul and great grooves that appeals to more people than a bunch of former frat boys trying to relive the glory days. maybe you don't like anything that's not cock rock and prefer a venue full of sausage (like any PJ show) to get your testosterone going, but some of us recognize that music doesn't have to be infused with steroids and is just fine when it's delicate, soulful, and heartfelt.

WOOOO buddy calm down. just the way i view it. i am not a frat boy either. but that halloween show you went to last year was before all the teenie kids really heard this album. this album was out for a solid six months or so.... ( dont quote me ) before it took off. so i could see what you are talking about. whats more is that i saw them in May 09 in Charleston and it was a bunch of young adults. And just a few months later in October of 09 (not last year) there were kids with their parents everywhere. and the show was horrible. maybe it was a life changing expierience for some but just not for me and if you have to get judgemental about someone you've never met before then that is your problem not mine. when i write that i dont like the kol new album it is just my point of view, not anger at the person or people who think that its great. i would love to hear your opinion but you dont have to try and make fun of me in the process!! take care!!

fair enough. i may have blurred your post with the dude's above. i am just so tired of a bunch of brain dead grunge hypocrites whining about kol having sold out. it's one thing to not like the new direction and new material. it's another to hate the band becos you're old and their fans are young and you were hoping you'd get to keep caleb to yourself for a while. that hipster "any band that becomes famous was way cooler before than they are now" thing annoys me to no end!

i dunno... same way pearl jam is still heartfelt even when half the lyrics ed sings aren't his anymore? plus, as i recall, it was that super cool earlier material that had the most co-writing influences. their entire first album was co-written by their producer... yet it was ok then and now it's a problem?
  • thanks,,ill check it out

Hmm...you must go to a lot of Country, Miley Cyrus, or boy band shows if you think PJ is a sausage fest.

Either way, I don't mind KoL and would still go see them if they came around. Not the biggest fan of their newest album, but don't think they're a "bad" group or anything...just not my cup as much as the one before it.

If this is the DVD of the O2 London show I was there. They were awesome. There's a lot of utter bollocks being written about them but they can put on a hell of a show. As for the crowd being a load of 15 year olds....complete nonsense. A lot of the crowd near me will never see a 40th birthday again.

Still think Caleb is a wanker though. And SOF is shite!

I've never seen a performance of these guys that actually proves they are a good band. I like alotta the tunes, they just come off as really half assed in the stuff I've seen and heard.

are you people hard headed or something. that london show you went to was over a year ago. this OBTN album caught on hardcore the middle of this past summer. so you would not have seen any 15 year olds plus you were in london. completely different crowd and acceptence to kol overseas than in the states. they are great no doubt , but bottom line they were better when they were happy being successful in the Uk and not worrying about being atop the Us charts. the US in general has very poor taste in music. dont like what im saying then look at the top of the charts for sales here in america for general and rock. bands like staind or 3 doors down and the new creed album are the ones dominating the charts.

maybe this is because they got a record deal before half of them even knew how to play their instruments
