  • I cant' stand this ignorance anymore... "equal pay for equal work is socialism" :o

the only conspiracy theory I believe in is the one about how the government is secretly dumbing down the population so we are too stupid to successfully revolt - which is much easier than using military force to control your population. ;)

    fuck me in the brain!
for the last time, equal work for equal pay is not fucking socialism!! it has to do with gender and racial equity. it means that a white man, a woman, and all minority groups should receive equal pay for the doing the exact same job and that women and minorities could not be paid less or discriminated against based on gender or ethnicity. see the gender protests/movement of the 70s led in part by billie jean king. i do not feel it is a bad thing to teach our children that everyone is equal in the eyes of the law.

it might also be a good thing for you to review this piece of historical legislation, which has been in place since 1964....i guess we ARE socialists..

Was that intended for me or the guy who I was quoting?

  • The Equal Employment Act was poor economics. The proof is in the results. Females still do not make as much as males. The correlation is week. Why? Because there are other factors at play such as length of service in a company, number of leaves and average hours working. These factors are the primary reason for the difference in wages. Basic statitics can make any arguement sound good. Look at where the numbers are coming from. The difference in pay per job is not being measured. It is the average pay for each gender. The market will do a better job than the government concerning wages. Why? Because most of the difference arises from factors not associated with discrimination.

Please don't make me out to be sexist or coldhearted. I simply have a different view on economics and the role of government. In the end, the best interest for everybody is what concerns me.

All of that is jibberish to try to explain yourself.
    The bottom line is this...
A woman with the same skillset, seniority, etc... should earn the same salary as a male with the same skillset, seniority, etc... Example: A female database administrator with 22 years of experience and a college degree should earn the same salary (in the same job grade) as a male database administrator with 22 years experience and a college degree.
THAT is Equal work for Equal pay.

so by what you are sayind, how is this socialism? so this applies to the song because they are telling the kids that everyone is equal and nobody, no race, no gender, no religion, is inferior or superior to the rest. i think its a good thing for the kids to learn. racism is passed from generation to generation and is learned from the family. i think the message in the song is a good thing and in no way endorses socialism or as you say conveys "weakness" to other governments.

You mentioned the legislation so I addressed it. As for the song. It has no place in public schools. I agree that the words sound good. But the idea that the government knows why their is gender inequality and how to fix it is absurd. Is it wrong to oppose the bill that this song has referenced, signed by Obama in Jan.? Is it appropriate to have impressionable children praise somebody in a public school? This is much deeper. The school was indoctrinating our children. There are definite Socialistic undertones working here. Thanks for debating with me. It was fun. Peace from the dellusional and paranoid one.

i respect your point of view, but in this thread i am going to have to go ahead and respectfully disagree with you. i do not think these kids will even remember that day where they sang to obama song in grade 3. i don't even remember most things i did in high school or college. i see it as a teachable moment, not indoctrination. i enjoyed debating with you and you should come around the train more often. we need more varying points of view in this place.

Would someone please explain to me where a women gets paid less because of her gender. I can not think of one example. And does equal work for equal pay stand for illegals?

OK, you have to be some kind of bot. No human is actually as dumb as you appear to be.

Yes... Women get paid less than men. Often doing the same jobs.

Two doctors in a hospital with equal experience and credentials... the woman almost always is paid less than the man. Or jobs that are traditionally done by women (Secretary, Nurse) will have a lower pay scale than jobs that require equal amounts of work but are done by men (Executive assistants, Lab Technician).

No, this has nothing to do with Socialism, Illegals or he voices in your head.

Why are you always such an ass? It was a simple question. Maybe where you live women are paid less but where I live we've never heard of such a thing. A woman doctor makes just as much as a male doctor. Where I work the women are paid as much as men if not more. Back in the 60's and 70's maybe...but today, I just don't see it.

I bet the women don't get paid less where you work!

It's a question that comes from a complete lack of any understanding of the issue at all. And it's frustrating to have to deal with big issues facing he country when you have to bring people up to speed on the basics. Just yesterday we had to explain how Socialism and communism aren't the same thing to someone who said "Socialism is halfway beween Democrat and Communist."

Which is quite possibly the most dumb-ass thing I've ever read in my life. It's like saying "Pink is halfway between green and purple."

When confronted with the truth, her answer was "well, I've never had a need to know it" which was odd considering she felt she had a reason to TALK about it.

I'm so sick of trying to argue with people who just vomit up "facts" that they just make up.

Dude, your a swamp donkey dick wad. Were you beat up in school or something? Probably a little 150lb.er with big ol balls when you're on the other side of the internet. And what the hell does your last quote have anything to do with me? I simply do not see women getting paid less because they are a woman. You're freakin dillusional as far as i'm concerned. It was a very simple question. If you can't answer with respect then don't answer it. Personally i'm quite tired of your arrogance.

Ah, so you've seen my movies then? (if you really think that... Google "Jasun." If you're over 18. You've been warned.)

I'm assuming you mean "delusional." Unless you just called me a pickle. Which would still be nicer than a Donkey Dick Wad, I guess. Choosing to ignore problems is a very common thing with conservatives, so I've seen. Like telling gay people they're not discriminated against because "You can choose to marry someone of the opposite sex, too."

If you want to read up on it, Google is your friend.

You're a BRUINS fan, they got beat up tonight by the BIG Ovechkin. Love the B's from back in the 70's when I saw Bobby Orr/Cheevers/Cashman/Espisito/Sanderson and the rest play. I used to play hockey as a goalie praticing I could stop those guys. :D
