  • I think this was my 19th show. It was definitely one of the best shows out of all of them. Definitely best since 1998 in my opinion. It had energy, Ed's voice is sounding good, and the band was tight. Ridiculous set list.
I will absolutely be buying the bootleg for this one. I am used to seeing Corin Tucker at local pizza joints. Nice to see her on stage again. Ed and her mesh so well.
    Amazing night.
    Except the parking lot...
Oh, and I am pretty sure Ed was joking about the pick.
  • Where to begin??? Oh yeah. Gonna See My Friend!! That was an awesome opener. Then into Last Exit, Why Go, and the Fixer. Started things off with very high energy and got the crowd into it early. After Green Disease Ed says, "we don't play that one very much, and I think we fucked it up".

Ed's first talk to the crowd says "Welcome Oregonians. (crowd cheers) Welcome Washingtonians (again cheers) Welcome... (pauses) Where the fuck are we!?" Referencing that the show is about 25 minutes north of Portland, and then Matt tells him that we're in Ridgefield.

First Encore break they bring out two stools with mics, so I couldn't figure out was going on. Then Ed comes out and introduces Corin Tucker and says "you've heard of some of these things we put out called Christmas singles. Every once in awhile they come out on Christmas (big laughs from the crowd), but they rarely get played live for this reason or that, and this one who knows if we'll ever get another chance to play it live. This last year's had a duet with myself and Mrs. Corin Tucker... And since Corin lives in this town, wherever the fuck we are, she's here now. It's called Golden State and we'd like to play it."

It'll be one of the top moments that stick out in my mind at a show for a long time. Then Ed plays The End solo, and brings out Ben Harper to play slide guitar. Again I'm wondering what they're playing, and they kick into Red Mosquito, and I was blown away. Ben playing on the solo while Mike was watching him. It was amazing.

The second encore set-list doesn't look too impressive on paper, but it was amazing. The energy level for Evolution and Not For You were incredible and the crowd was still going strong. Then the Modern Girl tag slowed it down into an incredible version of Black. The ending was just so beautiful. End was really into the moment and sang something low, but I couldn't make it out so I'll have to wait for the boot.

I haven't heard Porch yet this year from a boot, but it started with Matt thumping this beat with just Ed on the guitar, and I didn't think the intensity level could go up, but it did. After Ed thanked the crowd for giving them the energy to play that night, and said "this is our goodnight song" and went into YL.

I was at Seattle I and they just rushed off the stage after Alive, but after Mike's Star Spangled Banner Solo last night they all came up front and just waved and thanked the crowd for a bit. It was an amazing night.
  • I honestly think last night was one of the best concerts I've ever been to in the whole last 45 years of my shitty little life. The band sounded like, fuck...I don't even have the word. It was just so tight and awesome.

Red Mosquito was off the fucking hook and Porch was just so perfectly loud and kick ass.

That was our last show and I'm going to be depressed as hell.

HOLY HELL I JUST REMEMBERED IN HIDING. Jesus.
  • Sounded like it was awesome. Cant wait for the show to gor through there pro-tooling to listen.. Philly needs to get here faster..
    Tour with fucking NOFX
  • amazing show. simply amazing. fourth row on stones side in the center. (side note: i love being that close but sometimes i get caught up watching and forget to listen to whats going on). anyway. setlist was ...wow. i finally got to hear in hiding after a long time. energy was sooooo much better than the seattle shows. there were a couple kids close to where i was sitting. glad to see the young types out there at the shows.

if you were debating seeing them live on this tour i suggest you do it..by the sound of it they're going to be taking an extensive break from touring after they finish up.

thankfully someone elaborated on this .
Was wondering about this Golden State performance as the setlist unfolded,
    Thanks for addressing this.

You're welcome. I was able to quote Eddie so well because I have video recorded of it. Unfortunately the quality sucks, and I'm sure someone will post a decent video in the next few days, so I won't bother with mine, but I was at least able to get the quote down.
  • The Show in Portland last night was PHATT!! What a great venue!
I wish they would have played longer but after looking at the set list it was as long as their usual shows.. It just went by way too fast.

The fan club seats were amazing, we got center about 20 rows back, SO SWEET!

The crowd and energy was so great! Best show I've been to yet. DEFINITELY one of the better nights in life!

Thanks for coming to portland guys we love you and cant wait for the next show! Have a great tour.

Great show... We were in the 10th row in section 102 in front of Jeff...

To the 3 couples seated directly behind us...next time leave your girlfriends at home. They are a waste of great 10club seats! They stood there with sour looks on their faces and arms crossed like they were pissed off for the entire show.

Great show, had the best seats of my life (thanks Leana!) and had a "C" row seat that was actually 1st row Stone due to arc'd seating over on the sides. Highlights were Ed asking for the "FUCKING GUITAR PIC!" after asking his roadie nicely twice and not getting one for Golden State with Corrin Tucker, the great rendition of Red Mosquito featuring Ben Harper on the slide guitar, and finally getting to sip Ed's wine! He threw it down front and center over the cement and some guy caught it without a drop spilled (most impressive!) and passed it down along our side. One of the band's security guys (I recognized him from Key Arena) confiscated it after it was finished, and I politely handed it over (not sure why in retrospect, oh well!).

I've got some videos uploading, here they are:

    was the lawn pretty packed?
Yeah, the whole place seemed to be jam packed!! Way more people n the lawn than i expected. They must have sold a bunch of lawn tickets the day of and leading up to due to the really nice weather.

Fantastic show!!! On par with Seattle two I thought!! Just awesome!! And Red Mosquito with Ben Harper was probably the highlight for me!! We were row Fright on the aisle in front of Mike. And since there was no row A, we were actually 5th row!!! Opening with gonna See My Fiend really set the tone for the show. Corin Tucker singing Golden State with Ed was also quite a treat!!! They sounded fucking awesome together!!

So many great great memories from these three Washington shows. Thank you Ten Club for my awesome seats for the shows, and THANK YOU PEARL JAM for just bringing it with all you got!!! You certainly brought it for the Pacific Northwest!!!

Only small complaint about the Clark County Amphitheater is the will-call ticket booth is at the opposite end of the venue as the Premier Parking. They were cool about it though and escorted us through the venue instead of making us walk all the way around to will-call.

But besides that, the place was great! Loved taking beers to our seats!! The sneak-a-toke worked as planned!! The sound was perfect!! Yeah, not a bad venue at all 9with premier parking that is...I saw all the traffic trying to get our the regular lot when we were cruising on the freeway).

    Thanks again Pearl Jam!!! :mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen:

Great show. I liked Seattle 2 a bit more. Still, it was hard not to soak up the energy of the arena and the band, with nice early autumn breeze blowing though the seats.

Highlight of the night: Red Mosquito with Ben Harper and Golden State with the awesome Corin Tucker.

    My only complaints:
-- They sound-checked Breakerfall and didn't play it (got my hopes up for a let down :-()
-- I was row Q on Mikes side and the incline for the arena leaves a lot to be desired. We had a tall tree of a guy standing in front of us (a really nice guy, but huge) and even at 6-1 I had a hard time seeing around him.
-- The woman with her husband next to me and my buddy who drank about 6 glasses of wine and was slobbering drunk. She was flailing around and screaming the lyrics (mostly the wrong ones) during the set.

    Still, a great show.

One more thing: The parking and traffic.
I posted this over on The Porch but realized it was better suited for this forum.
I wrote this little ode to the Clark County Amphitheater's parking and traffic woes -- a Pearl Jam traffic report -- on my Oregonian blog Friday:
    http://blog.oregonlive.com/commuting/20 ... end_t.html

The bike plan worked perfectly. My friend and I were the only ones with bikes at the arena. Crazy.

After the show, we rolled out of the parking lot, past the line up of cars and an unbelievably long line for the C-Tran shuttle, took a couple back roads under the glimmering stars and half moon to our parked car and were home within 15 minutes.

How long did it take everyone to get out of the parking lost last night? My question to everyone else: How long did it take everyone to get out of the parking lost last night?

    Thanks for your help.

I'll post a link to my full report and show review on my blog on Monday.

  • I couldn't help but notice that all of the new songs (with the exception of Amongst The Waves) were tuned down a half-step, as well as a couple of more...maybe to accommodate Ed's voice?

We had my friend's RV and just partied in the parking lot. The semis left before we did. No traffic backup at 1:30 am!
