Those are great. Thank you. You need to get first row more often. Those are the best videos that i've seen yet for any of the shows.rockford wrote:Great show, had the best seats of my life (thanks Leana!) and had a "C" row seat that was actually 1st row Stone due to arc'd seating over on the sides. Highlights were Ed asking for the "FUCKING GUITAR PIC!" after asking his roadie nicely twice and not getting one for Golden State with Corrin Tucker, the great rendition of Red Mosquito featuring Ben Harper on the slide guitar, and finally getting to sip Ed's wine! He threw it down front and center over the cement and some guy caught it without a drop spilled (most impressive!) and passed it down along our side. One of the band's security guys (I recognized him from Key Arena) confiscated it after it was finished, and I politely handed it over (not sure why in retrospect, oh well!).
I've got some videos uploading, here they are:

Ah, I remember you! I was glancing over at your camera and was impressed by how well your camera was picking up even details like Ed's frizzy hair when mine was washing it all out. Nice work on the videos!rock musik rockar röv.0 -
damnit, I just wrote a huge review and for whatever reason it didn't post. Anyone else ever had that problem on this new forum?
To put it in fewer words:
crowd: better than expected
venue: not as bad as expected, but for having a world class city just a few miles south of there... it should be a lot better.
band: always good
set: I liked it. I'm glad they played unthought known again! This crowd responded better to it than the previous three.
surprise: Golden State. Of course Ed is always gold but I'm not the biggest fan of Ms. Tucker's voice, however I thought she sounded great in this song.
Traffic: Hey, you can't complain when the concert last 15 more minutes than what it took to get out of the parking lot right? HA HA I was surrounded by fellow Jamers and still had a helleva rush from the show so it wasn't that bad.Writing checks that others pay.....0 -

We were in the 20th row seats 5-6....first time using 10c tickets...very pleased...THANK YOU! This was our third concert of the tour (after Sea 1 & 2). It was an incredible show...RM w/BH, In Hiding and a little John Doe too...WOW! The vibe was definitely different than Mon and Tues, but really, really great just the same. We met a fun Dad and son from the area...in seats 19th row seats 5-6...the first concert they've attended together. The son, Keenan, is 16 and is studying guitar...totally stoked to be there and watch Mike. The Dad was awesome...a police officer that helped with a situation when some lame-ass tried to take another neighbor's seat when he stepped out for a beer (what's fn up with that?)...and could fly the middle fingers when needed in Not 4 You. As we were totally rockin out, it was sweet to see them high-five and give each other hugs throughout the show...really touching stuff! During Porch the Dad offered me his shoulders...and for a moment, I had the best seat in the house...MINDBLOWING!!! I think I was still in la-la land at the end of the show, because I didn't ask for their contact info...so if this is you...please contact me....trust me, I have security questions. Overall, at the three shows so far, the people we have met have been so kind, friendly and genuine...it truly restores one's faith in the whole human race.
Other info:
It was our first time to the Clark Kent Amphitheater...well, I think it resembled a prison yard...or a place to keep livestock during inclement weather...we also had people going in and out of our aisle CONSTANTLY...even during Y. Led...guess they didn't realize that alcohol is available outside the amphitheater and in their hometowns too. The "quick n easy" shuttle system left something to be desired as well....the only reason I'd go back there is for PJ...last night, they were "classin' up the joint".Post edited by LH225964 on0 -

Last night was wonderful- got to take a good friend of mine to his first PJ show, and he was unduly impressed. We' had a conversation before the set about how he'd seen the Kings four times, and thought they played great music live, but basically busted out their tunes while lacking any "personality or showmanship" at their last show. I told him that PJ brings intensity at every single show, and we were not disappointed. I thought it was a less than ideal venue, but the crowd had a decent amount of energy, and PJ came out rocking right from the start. Gonna see my friend was a great opening song, and I was really stoked to hear Unthought Known, my favorite track from the new album. The two biggest highlights for me were Ben Harper blowing me away on Red Mosquito, and Eddie playing Golden State. I just got a turntable one month ago and finally got to hear the 2008 X-mas single, and loved both songs- what an awesome surprise to hear it live, and done with so much passion! This was my ninth show, and bittersweet because I won't make it to any others this year. Regardless, thank you once again Pearl Jam for making every concert an amazing experience. Every show I've been to has been a 2+hour piece of heaven for me, and many of the happiest moments of my life have been at PJ shows. Here's looking forward to next year- it only keeps getting better!Rapid City - June 23rd, 1998

The Portland show, as most other have said, was tremendous. Golden State and RM were standouts for their guest stars, but I don't think I'll ever forget this version of Black, with Mike adding to the pain of the lyrics by playing high up on the strings, by the tuning pegs. just perfect. i'll shiver each time i listen to the boot, without a doubt.
personally, it's been 14 years since I was in the first row for a show (last time was Soldier Field in 1995) and it was worth the wait. I was in Row C (which counted as front row because of the way the seats were arranged and we could go up to the railing) over on Stone's side. During Ben Harper, our little section was rocking out - especially for the last half of his set - and we discussed amongst ourselves that our goal was to make Stone notice that we rocked harder than anyone else in the ampitheater. Not sure if we actually did (sure felt like it, but who can say, right?
, but we managed, finally, during the second encore, get stone to smile at us. is that a victory or what?
what really made the night, aside from the music, which sounded just wonderful (amongst the waves is quickly becoming a fave) were the people we got to meet. to podcaster donnie, teacher marsha, superfans selina and megan, the woman in the jake shimabukuro shirt, thanks for adding to the night and being good concert neighbors. to the drunk guy who kept shouting during the show "is rock dead?" and forming a one-man mosh pit, well, i'm glad you enjoyed yourself but next time there's no need to punch.
to everyone else, enjoy the upcoming shows and we'll rock out together in philly.0 -
Probably the best Pearl Jam show I've been to (Santa Barbara in 2006, LA Forum night 2, 2006 are close). And I've been to about 20 overall.
The setlist was incredible. Seeing Corin Tucker again made me miss Sleater-Kinney that much more. My two favorite singers from my two favorite bands. How could life get better? Then seeing "Red Mosquito" on top of it? I was blown away. I can't say anything else that hasn't been posted already. The guys sounded tight, Ed's voice was amazing, and the crowd was on fire all night.
"Present Tense", "Off He Goes", and "Inside Job" were also all perfect and surprising at the same time.
I was 4th row, dead center. Sorry to the people in the 5th row, dead center. I'm sure trying to see over me wasn't fun.
Enjoyed talking to all the row 1-2 people that were there for the first time. I've never been lucky enough to get front row, but I had been 2nd row a few times in Cincy, Vancouver, and San Diego. My quote to one of the couples was, "I can touch your seats from here, if I complain about being bumped back 2 rows so somebody can share in that experience, something is probably wrong with me".
WELL worth the trip up from So Cal. Looking forward to LA on Wednesday and SD next Friday.
EDIT: Thanks to Bo for giving me and my friend a ride home from the venue. We got dropped off in BFE, Washington from Downtown Portland and he gave 2 complete strangers a ride home. Another great show in a pretty cool venue. Love the homage to the 'Mats (Mike's T-shirt). PJ and the 'Mats - this was a good night! While Portland was great, Vancouver ABSOLUTELY FRIGGIN' RIPPED the night before. Thanks for 2 great shows guys - now back to work
