  • I love gone, people also hate get right and I love that song also. I don't get it why so many people especially hate get right. I love it.

yeah I like Get Right too and never really understood the hate. It's upbeat, has a good bassline, I like the guitar fills in the second verse, the breakdown and solo are really good. What else do you want?

I believe that Gone is one of the worst songs Pearl Jam has put on a studio album. And it's sister song is equally as bad (Dissident). Both are set killers when preformed live. They really bring the show to a screeching hault

The worst crowd killer is No More. It's the equivalent of Eddie just standing there smoking a cigg in complete silence with guitar reverb ringing out hurting everyone ears

    Bro... are you drunk?

I've seen what Gone does to crowds. It's like an encore in the middle of a set
Ya know, I used to agree about Gone, but I've grown to like it.

Although I think you're completely nuts about Dissident. GREAT song live...a show killer? When they played it at Chicago 2009 night 1 it was FUCKING INCREDIBLE...I think the stadium was shaking with the crowds simultaneous singing. How could this be considered a show killer...it's a fan favorite, the crowd cheers when it starts and it's a song that casual, and die-hard fans can both enjoy together....

it actually infuriates me that such a talented bunch of musicians can come up with such a heap of total shit. fuck it pains my ears it's so terrible.

    thank you very much

    no, that would be Nothingman.

    :o

Are you kidding me? Care to share your reasoning on why Nothingman is so terrible?

  • It is one of those songs that was amazing AMAZING when Eddie introduced it and did it solo. It was overproduced and had no need for so many layers and elements....just the small drum roll that Matt does at each break makes me curl.......I agree with the studio version...live its pretty good and the Eddie solo at the borgata was really really emotional and good........give it another shot in a different format, but yes, skip it each time on avocado.....

  • Can see something similar happening on Speed of Sound and The End...I guess once you hear it solo, you dont need the extra layers.

    but they didnt.....nudge nudge...

I hate it too. I don't know if it's the worst song ever, but it's definitely up there towards the top. What I can't stand even more is that they haven't abandoned this song yet! Why are they still putting it in the sets? It's the most amateur sounding song the band has done.

  • "Gone" is a good song, and not even close to being their worst.
I think it's way better than WorldWideSucicide.
I think the haters have to listen to the message of the song, and
relate it to a personal experience and then re-evalutae the song.
  • Gone and MFC are both good in my book.
I don't like You Are, that's probably one of the only songs I don't care too much about.

...and I also like No More, and would be very happy to see it live. Thank you very much.
  • I retract my previous statement about No More, I was thinking of the song No Way from Yield, that song is the good one, No More.. well, not so much.
  • Gone, Inside Job, and Come Back constitute the trifecta of suck on S/T. sappy, trite, poorly written, overworked crap.

all three do have brief moments of something cool, but you really have to dig for it.

not to be confused with Marker In The Sand, Unemployable, and Army Reserve, which is Pearl Jam mixed with the lifetime channel and MSNBC. they suck, but slightly less.
