Has anyone framed their Portland poster yet? I'm trying to decide on a color for the mat. I'm thinking either a cream or a very dark red (like Cabernet) to match the background. Any suggestions?0

I found a mat that is a perfect match... It’s a Bainbridge mat, I'll roll over to the shop later today and find out what the mat specifier is. You'll be able to order it from any frame shop with the code. 13PJ13 wrote:Yeah, I guess it can be over $40. I know they were running a free mat deal recently, so I guess that's what I had in my head. But yeah, it's still a great deal. And you save on shipping as you order more, if memory serves.
Oh, and damn you for getting a NJ2 poster!I NEED that!
I guess it depends on your requirements. I tried to price a frame identical to what my framers did and it didn't work out much cheaper (but that is UV filter, 3 mats and a nice thick wood frame)! I was a bit bummed. Well, I don't even know how much shipping would be to New Zealand anyway!0 -
Whats a ball park price you have been paying for a pro frame job?Calgary 04/09/05, Las Vegas 06/07/06, The Gorge 22/07/06 23/07/060

I just took my Gorge 1 to the framers and paid $212 for matting and an antique wood/rustic frame. A little higher than what I wanted. Brought my Gorge 2 today to 2 different framers for quotes. Both were around $110 for a basic frame, no matting. It's the cost of the frame itself that is the money hiker. This is going to get expensive. I've got 4 more to go!0 -

These are mine, I paid on avg. about 70$ Can each although i know someone at the store so i get a little discount. I have the same frame for all of them, its about a 1/2 black alum. with a mat finish. The mating is all acid free with acid free backing. I would like to see pics of the 2 posts above me, i believe they were AC and Gorge. Curious to see if there is a huge difference in the look of those compared to mine.http://www.expressobeans.com/trader.php?id=whistle55&view=4

Ok so I went to Americanframe.com as suggested, and I just did a test drive with thre pre-assempled frames for my LA2 (which I think is 24x24. Here's what's in my cart, is this really all I need?
24"W x 24"H
(S11) Standard, Pewter
(Artwork Size: 24"W x 24"H) -- READY MADE ASSEMBLE FRAME
24"W x 24"H
(AAUV) Acrylic Sheet - UV-Resistant (Acrylite OP-3)
24"W x 24"H
(MTBS) Mounting Board - Standard
$49.50 + $6 for shipping.
Does that look about right or am I missing something?0 -

ok well maybe i do get a good discount
Ive never asked what the full price was. It would make me kinda sick if i was told it was going to be upwards of 200$ though. I had gotten some quotes from a couple other places they were 125-150ish i think. But that was going with a standard frame nothing fancy.
I wanted to ask you before, what do you make models of?http://www.expressobeans.com/trader.php?id=whistle55&view=4

If you don't want matting done, you're not missing anything. If you don't get it, though, I suggest going to a local frame shop and ask to purchase "spacers" which are strips of plastic bumpers that will keep your poster from touching your acrylic.
If you do want a matte after all, make sure it's the 100% acid-free one.
And you also want to go acid-free on your mounting board.jon wrote:Ok so I went to Americanframe.com as suggested, and I just did a test drive with thre pre-assempled frames for my LA2 (which I think is 24x24. Here's what's in my cart, is this really all I need?

So I just brought 7 posters to Michael's and the total (at a 50% off discount - new store) cost is about $523.00. I am getting spacers, no matte, on uv protected non glare glass frames with basic black borders.
Whew - pricey but worth it!
I saw some pics of the colored mattes and I now questions whether I made the right move - I think the colored mattes look s hot as hell!!!!HAWAII BABY!!!!!!

I think some of the posters will look good with mattes and others won't. I took my Gorge 2 yesterday to get quotes for framing, and honestly I think that poster looks great without mattes. Just a contemporary black frame. Even that is running over $100. But most of the posters with the mattes, I agree, HOT!0
