Finally got around to taking some pics of mine. Will have to get some better pics and closups sometime. Baby steps I suppose. Have alot of others to get framed but I'm waiting for the new house to be built to cover the walls with them.

To make a long story short, he offered me two options without me even asking. He would find another poster and re-frame it correctly, or if he couldn't find one he would refund my money. Knowing that these are pretty rare, I was fully expecting him to call back telling me he credited my account. Well you can imagine my surprise when he called me today telling me he found a replacement (signed by Klausen!) and is going to frame it correctly this time. He spent way more than I did for my original, too. So I'm pretty impressed with his commitment to customer satisfaction.
I'm stoked. I have to bring back my original, obviously, and I'm expecting to pay the difference between what I paid to get a mat, etc.
Not to jump into a conversation that is a few weeks old but considering that BK has not sold his S/N copies yet I would not be surprised if the shop owner somehow got a hold of BK, which would not be that hard with the internet and got the S/N copy for you as a replacement.
If that is the case I would suspect that he paid less then $100 for it. But that was a honorable thing of him to do cuz most would have told you to shove

I was wondering if I could get some suggestions. I'm looking to finally frame my Montreal 2003, but I'm stumped as to what colour I should matte it with. It is HOT PINK with the bicycle:

Very nice. He does a great job. He did my CCFA Hawaii too, but the blue and orange one. I love it.

To bad you are, I mean I am too far from you, otherwise I have something about 30 posters to frame in next 2/3 month.

We'll I would just get the print from the guy and send it to me and I'll frame it up for you. Trust me on the top mat... you want the eye drawn in to the print. You try and put some color all over the place and its going to compete with the print. Thats proper design but go ahead and put a blue mat on top... its just not going to look very good at all. Good Luck
another update... got my reframed Klausen. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the visible mounting corners, I thought they'd be hidden, but I guess at this point I'll have to deal with it. He's selling my old one for $250 framed in his shop.
Anyway, here is the one I just got back, let me know what you think.

It's approximately $495 on there, plus shipping fees, and I don't know if his bank would charge him any extra for converting from dollars to pounds. Even if they didn't, he could have just rounded up from $520-or-so to $600.

That is a shit job, Im sorry, it looks GREAT but no quality framer would return a project with the mounting corners showing!! Then he's turning around and selling your poster he dry mounted in his store? That is just shady. There are corners that are not full triangles like the ones this guy used, they are thin and follow the square corner. If the space doesn't allow for corners you dont use them. He should have used an acid free t-hinge if he didnt have the room. Take it back and tell him you want it done right. This framer sounds like either an idiot or is not flying straight. SELLING THE PRINT HE RUINED? He should be sending that off to his insurance company... unbelievable.
I have both on their way to me... Should have them framed by the end of next week. I'll post them here. You really should send yours to me .
To be framed you mean, right?? I actually just dropped my Vic off at Michaels for $99... and that was half price (only reason I did it). Orange frame with brown mat which matches the brown hat... a little "wild" for me (everything I've done myself is black frame with black mat/black spacers) but I figured what the hey. I skipped on all the expensive stuff (fancy glass and some sort of fancy tapes that keeps out magical bugs or some crap).
Just curious, what do you charge? Haven't done my generic Lolla yet, was poking around americanframe.com... probably do it when I come home for winter break.

My framing runs more than $99 but I use three mats usually, UV plexi/glass and AF foam core. What I do would cost $300+ with Michaels easy.
My advice if you are on a budget? Go with the UV glass and skip the mat. A few years from now your poster will be faded. The cost is usually only 10-15% more retail and more than worth it. That is if you care about preserving the art. Otherwise it doesnt matter.

Apparently all of Michael's glass is UV protected, so I'm safe. Isn't it a bad idea to skip the mat and have your poster directly against the glass? None of my posters are in direct/any sunlight anyway

Thats when you use spacers... check on that with Michaels because I know the one in my area carries regular glass.
ANY light is harmful to art, whether it's sun light or not. We had a poster in our shop hanging in the back corner where it only got florescent light, hung there for almost a year or so. When it was sold and we removed the price tag you could see a faint outline where the price tag was. You'll never notice it on a full piece because it is so faint, but 5 years down the road put it next to one that has been behind UV glazing or in a tube and you'll see the difference. Glazing is the one thing you never skimp on.

Man, I almost just want to start over... I have 5 posters framed already with plain glass, and the three with mats are poorly cut because I did them (so much for remembering how to cut mats from photo class in high school). The other two have spacers and you can see them on one and the other they don't hold all of the poster down because the frame is slightly bigger than the poster.
One of these days when I get money I'll just roll 'em up and send them to you... personal framing = one big headache, ugh.

Yes black mat is the way to go with this one... if you go double mat pick a green bottom mat that goes with the bike.
I like what you did with the Riot Act poster...

Yeah i am willing to bet he got that directly from BK and paid $60 for it, and $250 for your old one, crazy.......
Can these still be had for $60? If so, where!?
This guy told me he had to buy it from a guy in England for $600... but maybe he was bs'ing me by a factor of 10. lol.
Maybe he bought it from Richard Goodall.
