    Habs could win a game or two if they were capable of sustaining a consistent effort. They are, however, not capable of this ;)

    After a rough first period, where they played the majority a man down, the Wings dominated the Blue Jackets last night. I still don't think it is going to be a sweep, but Detroit looked tough last night.

    It was nice to see the 3-time Lady Byng award winner Pavel Datsyuk knocking the shit out of people last night. Of course he has been doing that all season but it's funny how people think he is soft.

    In regards to goal-tending, that was an important game to set the tone for Ozzie. I still think that Detroit's talent level gives them a 2 goal advantage over most teams. If Ozzie can keep the scoring limit at 2 or under, Lord Stanley's cup will be making a return to Motown . . . er, I mean Hockeytown.

    I was impressed with Ozzie. At least two times in the first few minutes, his teammates hung him out to dry and he came up big. He was solid all game, making the saves he needed to, and then there were two saves that should have been goals that he stole right out of the back of the net.
    Mason was impressive early on as well, two of Detroit's goals were deflected off of Blue Jackets.

    Btw- wtf was Manny Malhotra thinking on that go-ahead goal?
    For those who didn't see it, Detroit's Jonathan Ericsson fired a shot toward the goal, that was headed right for Mason's chest/mask. Malhotra, a Columbus player who was standing in front of the net, tried to grab the shot out of the air, and instead of catching it, he deflected it right over his goalies shoulder for the score.
    That play seemed to really take the wind out of the Blue Jacket's sails.

    hitchock was pissed.said they lost a game earlier because of a play like that..

    Is Ozzie that good or is the Blue Jackets offence just offensive? They are too much of a grind it out team, no real offensive explosion exists. been watching them all year and the first 10 minutes of the game are not the norm. There best chance is to play solid D and the goaltending of Mason. Nash, RJ and Vermette are solid players but over matched against the Wings. They might steal 1 win in Columbus but that's about it

    Don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting Chris Osgood is Patrick Roy or anything, but he came up with some big saves early on. He's not the kind of goalie that is going to consistently hoist the team on his back and win games by himself, but last night he saved them in the first. That fact that it was still 0-0 after the first period was outstanding. I think you can argue that he won that game last night. And to be successful in the playoffs, you have to rely on your goalie to steal a game or two.
    Still a lot of hockey to play, but the Jackets are going to really have to play hard and get some bounces to stay in this series.

    I completely agree. He probably hasn't slept since. Stupid move, but it happens.

    thankful the devils lost last night, but man was that a snoozer. one of the most boring playoff games i've seen in a while.

    Nice bounce back win for my Canes last night. They split on the road and come back home for 2. Can't wait to get to the RBC Center tomorrow night for Game 3.
