If you think that winning is exciting, watch the exciting games of the teams that were coached by Jacques Lemaire. He won 2 or 3 Stanley Cups and his teams were all god awful to watch.

Lemaire only won one Cup. And it was in a strike shortened season. Besides that he never even made it to another SC final. Nice try though.
I understand you have an opinion, but if you could refrain from just making shit up to support it, that would be great.
Lol. Thank you google. It still doesn't make Detroit hockey any more bearable to watch.

most goals in the league by detroit is pretty exciting..

You escaped with a win last night Vancouver. I think this could be a great series. The Blues are a much better team than they showed last night.

I do recall that hit on Jackman. In a word, I would call it...vicious

Escaped with a win? We were in your heads, your kids were so nervous and we absolutely dominated in the 3rd. Also the only goal you scored Luongo had no chance on and he still ALMOST stopped it. Also the offciating was fucking atrocious, 2 non calls against you in the first 5 minutes and then a marginal call to put you on a 5 on 3 on which our PK dominated your so called high powered PP.

I'll agree that the officiating was pretty bad. I say "escaped" because if the Vancouver team that showed up last night played the Blues at their best...they would have lost that game. However, you are right, the Canucks got in the young guys heads. We took some stupid penalties after the whistle than normally we wouldn't take. I expect the young kids to play better now that game one is out of the way.

I do suspect a lot of it was nerves but Oshie was a non factor and Perron took a few dumb penalties and just looked rattled by the time he took that hooking penalty in the 3rd. I thought Mason played fairly well, he probably wants that 1st goal back but his high glove side looks weak, he bobbled about 5 shots with his glove hand that I counted, I think the Canucks will try to exploit that. I am happy to play tight checking 2-1 games against you guys because that is our bread and butter, the last thing we want is to start getting into high scoring, 6-4, 5-3 etc etc games because your offense is unreal.

On the bright side McDonald and Boyes had very good games.

Man, the Bruins played a great 3rd period. The Habs will have their hands full this series. My prediction: Bruins in six.

I actually thought they were pretty flat to start the 3rd.

I'm forced to avoid all hockey until 9 PM pacific and watch the Bruins replay on NESN so, for B's games not on Vs., I'll be late to the party here.

I actually thought the pressure was on the Bruins tonight to win this game (see San Jose, and tell me they aren't shitting a brick right now). And they did a nice job pulling thorugh ... but if you're a Habs fan, I think you have to be a little encouraged that Price looked pretty damn good in net tonight, better than I've seen him play this year.

anyway .... nice win for the black and gold.

    You assume correctly.
Chara was unexpectantly clean last night.
Habs could win a game or two if they were capable of sustaining a consistent effort. They are, however, not capable of this ;)

After a rough first period, where they played the majority a man down, the Wings dominated the Blue Jackets last night. I still don't think it is going to be a sweep, but Detroit looked tough last night.

It was nice to see the 3-time Lady Byng award winner Pavel Datsyuk knocking the shit out of people last night. Of course he has been doing that all season but it's funny how people think he is soft.

In regards to goal-tending, that was an important game to set the tone for Ozzie. I still think that Detroit's talent level gives them a 2 goal advantage over most teams. If Ozzie can keep the scoring limit at 2 or under, Lord Stanley's cup will be making a return to Motown . . . er, I mean Hockeytown.

I was impressed with Ozzie. At least two times in the first few minutes, his teammates hung him out to dry and he came up big. He was solid all game, making the saves he needed to, and then there were two saves that should have been goals that he stole right out of the back of the net.
Mason was impressive early on as well, two of Detroit's goals were deflected off of Blue Jackets.

Btw- wtf was Manny Malhotra thinking on that go-ahead goal?
For those who didn't see it, Detroit's Jonathan Ericsson fired a shot toward the goal, that was headed right for Mason's chest/mask. Malhotra, a Columbus player who was standing in front of the net, tried to grab the shot out of the air, and instead of catching it, he deflected it right over his goalies shoulder for the score.
That play seemed to really take the wind out of the Blue Jacket's sails.

Bah, don't be too hard on the guy. An instinctual reaction that backfired. You won't see him make that mistake again.

Is Ozzie that good or is the Blue Jackets offence just offensive? They are too much of a grind it out team, no real offensive explosion exists. been watching them all year and the first 10 minutes of the game are not the norm. There best chance is to play solid D and the goaltending of Mason. Nash, RJ and Vermette are solid players but over matched against the Wings. They might steal 1 win in Columbus but that's about it
Redwings are frickin' tough. Btw- wtf was Manny Malhotra thinking on that go-ahead goal?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting Chris Osgood is Patrick Roy or anything, but he came up with some big saves early on. He's not the kind of goalie that is going to consistently hoist the team on his back and win games by himself, but last night he saved them in the first. That fact that it was still 0-0 after the first period was outstanding. I think you can argue that he won that game last night. And to be successful in the playoffs, you have to rely on your goalie to steal a game or two.
Still a lot of hockey to play, but the Jackets are going to really have to play hard and get some bounces to stay in this series.

Yeah, I guess I can't really attack him as a player, because he was trying to help his team, but what a bummer for the Jackets and their fans. Before that goal it was tied at 1-1, and after, it was like they just fell apart.
