Well weak or NOT , your whole team has gor it going on. Good luck with the rest of th eplayoffs and I'm guessing the finals too.

Should be a fun run to watch.
But I'm glad that Columbus got the chance to make it to the playoffs.
Hopefully they will continue to get better. Can you imagine if Detroit, Chicago and Columbus were all Cup contenders? That would make every conference match up during the regular season have potential playoff implications.
And if Toronto would ever get its shit together, there would be three strong teams within a four hour drive (of Detroit). Road trips all season!
well I think we've done fairly well during the regular season against all those teams. And pretty much handled the east throughout the season. You guys travel well too. At least down here. Pic in the paper today of our fans stopping a detroit fan from tossing a squid!!!

Lol, do you make this crap up by yourself?

I lost a lot of respect for MSG when I went there last year for PJ and looked up to see several New York Liberty WNBA Eastern Conference Champions banners hanging ... wtf is that about?

Is that worse than having NBA championship banners in the building?

Anyone who is watching the Detroit/Columbus series- how do you think Osgood is doing?
To be honest, he has really exceeded my expectations. He's made a lot of great saves in this series. If it weren't for him, I think the Blue Jackets might still be in this thing.
It was funny though, on the Detroit Free Press website this morning, they printed a column from a sports guy in Columbus, and the whole point of his column was that Osgood was the weak link in on the Red Wing team.
    As a fan, I disagree.
Anyone out there with an objective opinion?
Been unable to watch any of the series, but doesn't he kinda have a point? How many truly amazing shots has he saved? Gearing a whole shift to One player(nash) can get pretty stifling. On top of that the own goals have deflated us to a certain extent.Historically CBJ playing catch up is not a good thing. It's like they try TOO hard , ya know? As I said earlier in this thread I was just hoping they played a full 60 minutes each game. Don't think we've seen it yet.
Now that CBJ HAS tasted the play offs , perhaps they'll be hungry agian next year and put on a better showing than this series. 3 Games = Detroit 12 goals CBJ 2.
How have the Detroit - Columbus games been to watch in terms of entertainment? Has there been any excitement?

I can't watch Detroit games anymore because they are usually just so boring. They are way too disciplined, way too good at trapping and they seem to wait for power plays (which they get because of their discipline) to win games.

I understand that some fans like results (which the Wings provide year after year), but it's hard to watch a hockey game knowing that no real rivalry or animosity or emotion will develop in the game.

Varlamov coughs up a rebound. Things looking good for the Rangers. Always strange to hear John Forslund calling a game that doesn't involve us.

Can't wait for Game 5 tomorrow. Hopefully Canes take one in Jersey. Regarding last night's incredible finish, Broduer really has no argument on the play. I can't fault him too much for complaining though. He stood on his head for 2 periods just to keep Jersey in the game and it was an emotional frustrating loss. That can cloud your judgment. Also I think a lot of the complaining from him and particularly Sutter is just them trying to gain some sort of edge with the officials going into Game 5. The stick smashing, though, was a bit much.

Game 1 = 4-1 Detroit , Game 2 = 4-0 Detroit , Game 3 = 4-1 Detroit. From THIS CBJ fan(in passing) I'd say that knda sucks! I don't know though. Our first experience as a club in the playoffs. And as you say Detroit IS very disiplined and talented.Almost machine like.

Detroit's playing a more physical game this postseason.
But the don't go after opponents outside the framework of what they want to do.
Last night was a great example.
Here's a video of Brad Stuart absolutely annihilating R.J. Umberger. It's one of the hardest hits I've seen this postseason, but it was 100% clean.

A few minutes later, the Blue Jackets' Mike Commadore tried to respond, first at a failed hit on Dan Cleary, which left him floundering on the Wings' bench, then a disastrous mistake trying to hit Johan Franzen.

Overall I think the series has been pretty exciting.

    How sweep it is.

Boston is heading to the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals. Bring on whoever. The way they played in this series, I feel they can beat anyone.

    Great hit by Stuart.

Any team that had any personality would have given Commodore the business when he fell in their bench.
Maybe I'll give a Wings game a shot in the second round. I better not fall asleep though or it's your fault.

Haha- I guess I'll have to take the blame then. I hope they don't disappoint.

Here's a video from their run for the Cup last season- Shows some good hits in the beginning. Most of them are from Nik Cronwall. He was a wreaking ball last year. He needs to start throwing around the body some more.

Lol -- I can't be converted. I'll never forgive the Wings for hiring Scotty Bowman who subsequently sucked the life and personality out of that team.

Is McCarty still on the roster? I thought that he was disappeared by a loan shark?

Man, there's a guy who really put himself through the ringer. After pretty much washing out of the game a few years ago, the Wings gave him a chance to comeback last year, he played for awhile in the CHL with the Flint Generals, then up to Detroit's AHL affiliate in Grand Rapids, about halfway through the season they brought him up, but he really didn't do a whole lot. I think it was more of a publicity stunt or a play on nostalgia. When he was in his heyday, he was a fan favorite. He came back this season and played with the team through Feb. then they sent him down to Grand Rapids saying he was rehabbing a sports hernia. He hasn't been heard from since.

Side note- on his downward spiral, he got caught up in drugs and racked up so much gambling debt that he had to declare bankruptcy. One of the requirements of his bankruptcy was to sell off pretty much anything he owned so he could pay down the debt he had. That included his 3 Stanley Cup rings. Steve Yzerman, who was the captain back then, bought them back at auction, and gave them to McCarty.

Habs could be very different team when camp starts. They have plenty of key UFA's.
It was funny the way Price reacted to the crowd by lifting his arms, thought he would get pulled right then.

Not funny if you're a Habs' fan (a real one, I mean, not the douchebags booing everything in sight).
    See Patrick Roy: 1995.
I am going to miss Koivu and Kovalev. Our D needs a complete overhaul, and the UFA/RFA defensemen would probably help that by not re-signing. I'd keep Dandenault though, he gives his all every game.

I agree with Gainey, Price didn't deserve the mock cheers, can't remember a soft goal last night.

Do you really think they let Koivu go? I see him as the heart and soul of the Habs, especially overcoming cancer and all.

My son was a Habs fan because of Roy, I let him move back in the house after they traded Roy to the Avs

I would love for St. Louis to get back to top form.
Those playoff series between the Blues and the Wings in the mid-late 90's were gold.
Grant Fuhr was such a frustrating goalie to play against!

I think they will try to re-sign Koivu, the guy has been the heart of the team for almost a decade, and gives his all constantly. I am not sure Koivu will want to come back though, and I couldn't blame him. The media in Montreal are among the worst in the league, right up there with Toronto. They put so much pressure and BS on the players it isn't funny. The fans can act like spoiled idiots (as we saw the last two games), too.

And I think he wants to play with his brother, too.

I think those days will be coming back. I miss the old Black and Blue rivalry from the old Norris days. Anytime either of the Blues-Blackhawks-Red Wings meet up, it's a game worth seeing. In the coming years it is only going to get better.

Insane goalie duel tonight between Ward and Brodeur. Only 1 goal on 86 shots between both teams. Gotta bounce back and even things up on Sunday.

Ok it's time I started checking out this thread:

Phantom Pain I love your avatar! I am sooo sick of NHL promoting Sid the Kid. I have no reason to hate the guy as much as I do except for the fact the NHL forces him down our throats. He's good but there are a lot of good, young, quality players. I believe the Wings won the cup last year but they always show the Penguins/Sid scoring on the Wings :) Why not showcase all the NHL and let fans decide who they like? Last time the Wings played on NBC against the Penguins, which the Wings won, Zetterberg was asked by Pierre McGuire what it was like to play against Sid - F***ing ask Sid what it's like to play against Hank and Pavel!

What's with the garbage throwing? Canadian fans should be ashamed. I hate them (Bruins/Wings lifetime fan) but I even felt bad for the players. I hope they chase Price out of there and get a real shit goalie, they'd deserve it. And to throw garbage on the ice? WTF. If I were Koivu I would have stayed out there and picked up the garbage. That's the players home away from home and you don't disrespect it like that! NO class so called Canadian fans. It's not like they were going to beat the Bruins anyways..... I hope this is the start of the Canadians SUCKING for the next decade :)

Detroit vs Boston in the finals would be a dream come true for this fan!

They weren't very classy this week. Although it's not like no other arena has the fans throwing trash on the ice, so you may as well get over it.

It's not a matter of getting over it. Whether it's Montreal (which quite frankly surprised me), Columbus last night or anywhere else it's just not right. I think it speaks for the times which is worrisome as I have a 4 year old daughter I take to games.

After all the pain the Habs have put on me and the Bruins I got to enjoy this for at least a few years :)

    No hard feelings.

I'm not saying it is alright, either. The people at the game should be ashamed of themselves, both for that and the booing.

Yeah of all the games I've been to, albeit the Wings have been good for quite awhile, I don't think I've ever booed. Now cussed is a different thing :)
