I was about to reply a hostile responds coz I'm sick and tired of hearing that same crap that one can just snap out of it. If you ever have someone you care for, best not say something like that because you'll more likely to lose them the next day. What they're goin' through isn't a simple thing, man. That's why there's medicines and meetings for them to try, some work and some don't. You can't snap out of sometihng like that, that's not as easy as you think.

its not like we sit around wanting to be depressed. if your brain does not make enough seritonin (sp?) you will be depressed. in my case at times it dont produce enough, and others way too much. hence the manic deprssion.
anyway, people without deprssion disorders act like those that have them can just nut up and not be dpressed.
if only it were that easy.
I was like that for nearly 5 months before PJ's tour announcement. Somehow my situation began to look brighter that same week that the "tweet" was announce. It's like a fucking miracle from Pearl Jam or something. Can't explain it.PJ- 04/29/2003.06/24,25,27,28,30/2008.10/27,28,30,31/2009

Good post, man. I see and understand that clearly when I'm optimistic but when I'm down, it just feels like a big deep empty hole I can't get out of.

I think Ill let my own life expieriences help me in life thank you, and if pjs tour got you outta your deprsession that is about as quick as SNAPPING OUTTA SOMETHING THAT YOU CAN HAVE HONESTLY.
MY VERSION OF SNAPPING OUT IS HARD WORK, BEING GOOD TO YOUR FAMILY, GETTING THE RIGHT SLEEP, EAT RIGHT, COMMUNICATE AND LEARN. TRUST!! All things that can be accomplished.
So what happened to everyones "people feel what they want and choose to live how they want", that only aplies to drug usage, suicide, and depression. wtf
you dont know me, you were going to be hostile with me becasue I was positive. My neighbor just died from an infected tooth leaving 3 kids behind, I just lost a pet, I have a sister in law suffering from manic depression, my 1 child has minor issues at 8 years old, my wife has diabettes real bad, my mom has cancer.
I go out every day and try to make sure all of them know I am right by their side cheering them up every possible fucking hour. than I cry myself to sleep half the time till its time to get up. SOMETIMES ALL THESE PEOPLE HAVE IS ME, YOU HAVE TO LOOK AHEAD.
Now 1 thing I will say about life,is we get older, and at 38 I HAve learned from communication that if you deal with things head on it lightens the crash, and keeps everyone involved heads up. When I was in my 20s things seemed a lot worse. Go listen to songs like hold on, long road, hard to imagine. Dont just assume because someone on here isnt the flavor of the month you can neglect everything they have to say.
Especially because they are trying to be happy. Some people have religion I have Pearl Jam.

i dont think he was neglecting what you were saying. its just that for someone who has major depression issues, alot of the advice giving is not really going to help. im 35 , im 1200mg of Lithium a day ( that is a high dose), for the most part that helps me stay on track. but even with that , and shrinks, sometimes its not enough is all im saying, and the whole "i dont have time to be depressed " thing just does not apply. for some its not as easy as just saying i have to do this or be that for other people or themselves because the depression hampers the ability to think in a rational way. thats all i was saying. is that for some, its alot harder, and for some, its not even within their ability to do so.
peace.Peace, Love.

Twas my reply to you, I know people have it tuff, and in some cases cant cope, but sometimes it helps to have people around you that can, people you can trust. Long rd and cate are always saying people can think and do as they can its their choice, but that only aplies to heroin usage, depressed feelings and suicide, we cant feel happy and great and enjoy life and be there for others? Without being made fun of,thats double standards, and double standards are somtehing that you can get rid of and live happier without.
Long rd has been waiting to jam me in this forum, he is differant in here, so I apologize if I offeneded you.

SENROCK!! You definitely do not need to explain
why you don't write depressed threads....:)
I posted this particular thread because....DAMN there have been a ton of DEPRESSING threads here lately....it's always the same people.....sad but true. I like to listen to them, in fact I even went as far as taking up for a "certain" person and when "they" didn't post for weeks I thought something happened to "them". I know I can ignore the depressing threads and I did for a LONG time...so I just had to say something...no big deal, those of you that didn't agree with me let me know and those who did agree with me also let me know! depressing threads, threads bitching about depressing threads, threads about the weather, threads about broken radar detectors, pictures of you, your dog, your cat, your spouse, your houseplant
, what someone had for lunch, what someone is doing this weekend, relationship threads! these ALL comprise the AET, at any given time....one form of thread is no more valid than another....nor is it up to us to decide what IS *valid* in any case. live and let live....or post and let post, eh?

and also realizing that people post for different reasons. some do because they need feedback or an objective ear. some just for the hell of it. some do for attention, and that can go for depressing as well as happy threads.
there are plenty of options for whatever type of thread one is looking forand i figure one can't appreciate light without a little bit of darkness, really.

i'll take a depressing post from someone truly in need, whether simply to just vent, get it *out there* or looking for advice ANYday over people who post simply to be an asshole. i hate assholes, particularly assholes who wouldn';t dare to be so nasty/assholish in your face...cowardly internet assholes.Stay with me...
