    An American church plans to picket memorials held for Australian actor Heath Ledger because he played a gay cowboy in the film Brokeback Mountain.

    The Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas, says it will protest against any memorial held for Ledger in the United States because the 28-year-old actor supported homosexuals.

    "I'm going to picket him in two places," parishioner Shirley Phelps told Sydney radio station 2Day FM.

    "I'm going to stand outside of any public memorial service that he has here.

    "And then the other place I'm going to picket him is when they prop him up to worship his dead, rotting carcass further at the Oscars. I'll be right outside by the red carpet."

    It is understood Ledger's body will be returned to Perth, where his former school has offered to hold a memorial service.

    The church has ruled out travelling to Australia for the funeral

    These people are off their heads, it makes me so fucking angry.
    Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

    Wow. I mean there isn't anything else one can really say. There are so many people out there masquerading as decent human beings and then well there are these folks. These so called Christians.. banging their bibles. Who are they to judge? It is sad. As sad as his is, his death is getting more attention in this city right now then the attacks on women. Sure some poor soul was murdered last week and her face so badly destroyed, her own family can't ID her. But lets talk about Heath.

    This folks are more of a cult than a church.....most of the membership are related by blood or marriage....they get no mainstream support because they wouldn't recognize God if he introduced himself. :rolleyes:

    I'm not sure what to make of that. I don't like the family either but that seems to be more about revenge.

    So maybe by winning a large settlement the attempt is to cripple the church financially



    Edit : The Majority of the church members are also lawyers so they know the laws and the games they play and how to get around a lot of laws..except this time they lost

    Please folks everywhere, this church in Kansas is NOT representative of the churches that sane people attend on Sundays.

    Anyone who calls themselves Christian should condemn this "church." We all have our own sins and crosses to bear.....It isn't Christian to wish hell on anyone. Who do these folks think they are?
