Um... I'm not Catholic... but does that sound a mite hypocritical to anyone else?:pSmokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.0 -
in_hiding79 wrote:Everyone is hypocritical. The bible is just a book, trust me. I had to read it for the first SEVENTEEN years of my life, it's just a damn book of weird lies, rape, talking donkeys, magic tricks and about some old guy building an arc and putting all kinds of animals together without any fighting or death!! Religion is the reason for why the world sucks...
It doesn't matter how long you read the bible for, some people believe in it and it gives them hope. That's the important thing. Even the Phelps should be able to express their opinion whether it's liked or not. I just find it disgraceful that some people (not you) have said they'd like to see the family beaten up. This family are very insensitive but THEY believe they're doing the right thing and they've never physically hurt anyone themselves.
and yes, to the above question.0 -

I do understand what you're saying, but picketing somebody's funeral goes beyond what society deems acceptable. I have no issue if they want to have protests in town centres or whatever, they're entitled to their opinions. BUT verbally bashing a dead relative during such a traumatic and painful experience as a funeral, is a step beyond decency. If you don't draw a line somewhere, would it be acceptable for them to go and take a shit on a dead soldier's grave? In all honesty I don't see what they are doing to be much different.
I really wonder what they hope to achieve by jumping on all these events? To me they come across as self-righteous, hate-preaching fucks. Their opinion means nothing to most people, because it's delivered in such an offensive way. And as someone else quite rightly pointed out, if they really are going to heaven, who the fuck would want to join them there?!0 -

The point is they don't care if they're liked or not. They seem to think they're doing God's work - for the good of mankind. We don't think so. But if people find this indecent, there should be some law against picketing (because that's what really upset people). Some form of legal action should be taken and not just sueing them in the hope they can't fund there church because that's almost like bullying to me.
I don't want this to come out the wrong way because I think they're being very cruel but the point is, I don't think they're deliberately trying to do harm to anyone - they're just insane.Possibly brainwashed by the father/grandfather, (whoever he is) as with all extremists.
I've posted this link before but either people have seen it too often or they haven't bothered to watch it. I think Louis Theroux sums it up nicely.

I just think if people aren't willing to listen or even try and understand someone, there will never be peace on earth.0 -

And Louis doesn't hate fags."I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"0 -

He's lovely. Intelligent and accepting or willing to learn and listen to everyone.0 -

he clearly can't bring himself to bring up something that actually inspires wrath from him so he comes up with eating on the phone  He's a nice guy. I'm amazed he wasn't more upset by the Phelps family.

when will people get their heads out of their asses and starting worrying and caring about bigger issues in the world? To sum up what Lewis Black said, "We have an educational system thats in the shitter, a war going on, one thing after another. And what did our President think was important??? Queers!!!
This is just one of the MANY reasons why I don't even bother with religion. It is a total scam and just creates more problems than it solves...0 -

Religion causes more problems than it solves because generally, people are idiots. Surely, any sane, intelligent person would see it's supposed to be a force of good. I'm not personally talking about the bible but meaning it in a spiritual sense.
Where is people's compassion here? Sorry but religion IS a big issue in the world. Religion and poitics have an overall effect on our lives. Can you imagine what the planet would be like if there were no government or religious belief?
Anyway, I'm going off subject a bit...0 -

Where do I sign up?
sorry but organised religion is the most corrupting influence in the world today. I am all for spirituality. I consider myself very spiritual. I don't see why the fuck religion has to come into that."I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"0 -
The callousness of some people is appalling. No, disgusting. The saddest part is how disillusioned some people can get. I just hope they wake up and smell reality soon. Very sad.Steve
