    A GLEAM OF FUCKING HOPE!!!!!

weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee i was so excited when i read this

    (from another forum on here)

Stone Has Given the South HOPE!!

So this is what i read on pj's message pit today

my sister and I walked down to this little mom and pap breakfast joint earlier. there weren't many people inside. maybe 8 people. So i see a couple guys walk in out of the corner of my eye. I nonchalantly glanced over. Then i did a double take. it was stone.

He was with another guy i recognized. One of the crew guys. later i found out it was smitty. they were just a few tables away and figured i would just say "hey stone". I thought about it more and thought i had chance to chat with him, but i didn't want to make a scene inside. plus, i could tell nobody else recognized him. So Lisa and I just went about our usual business. Stone and smitty finisded their meals the same time we did. We walked out a few minutes before them so we waited outside.. just standing around, not making it obvious.

Stone walks out. I let him walk about 10 feet before i approached him

    me: hey stone?

(stone turns around, nods, and walks towards me

me: hey, i just wanted to say hi. my name is eugene and this is my sister, lisa. we just flew in for the show tomorrow

    (we shake hands)

stone: oh, awesome. where'd ya come from?
    me: florida
stone: hah, we were actually just talking about florida.
    me: oh yeah?
stone: yeah, just wondering when we're gonna get down there
me: haha..yeah, a lot of people have been wondering about that
stone: yeah (rubs chin)..ya know all of the southern shows don't sell out and the south is just a huge detour. (does some kind of detour motion with his hands) but, we are gonna work something out and get down there
    me: so ya guys excited?
stone: yeah man, petty. it's been awesome
    stone: are you guys excited?
me: oh yeah.......hey, mind if we get a quick picture
stone: yeah, that's cool. let smitty take it

    (takes picture)

me: well, it was nice to meet ya. thanks
stone: you too, enjoy the show
    me: thanks you too

then they walked into a radio station

the picture was taken with my sister's camera and she doesn't have the cord, so i took a picture of the picture with my camera

Thanks Leather Mandi. I just hope this isn't someone's idea of another "joke" for the south....

I haven't given up hope yet, but I don't know whether to believe another one of these stories or not. Thanks for passing it along just the same... :)

I was sort of reading into the email blast the 10C sent out today - they were being careful not to say "end of the tour". Instead they said "end of the tour 2006".

    Nothing wrong with being hopeful....

    PLAY THE SOUTH!
    Please.....

i just figured someone would have spiced it up a bit more (the story that is) if it wasnt true....

    could be right though!

but it is a bit of a gleam of hope:)

yeah, we caught it...not all of us maybe, but i've seen it. and honestly, i can't give it that much cred. it's just something somebody posted. i could have written that just as easily. nothing personal, it's just not official. neither was lizard's encounter with mike, really. just not official, that's all. maybe stone and mike were hanging in the bus talking about people asking them about the south, and they just said "let's just tell everybody it's about ticket sales so they'll leave us alone about it". still not official, if you see what i mean....

Thanks, I do appreciate the voice of reason. But I also like reading those little hopeful tidbits - and that's why those jerks keep writing that stuff because of naive people like me!!! I'll never learn, but I'll never give up hope either. I've got the jam fever bad.

oh, no, trust me: i'm having a hard time trying to be rational about this stuff and not getting my hopes up and reading too much into things that might not be so much....

on the other hand, i get kinda giddy when the 10c emails me and says something vague like "as an exciting 2006 pearl jam tour seson comes to an end..."

I caught that too... they seem to real careful about their wording... there are rumors of PJ playing a festival in Europe in 2007 (n another thread) , so it sounds like there may be some more performances coming up in 2007... but trying to not hope too much.

This little movement seems to have grown some legs of its own....

The *** Official Plant a Tree, Play the South*** petition has been merged with this thread.

Im going to keep posting this until we get lots more people on board.

We are hoping to get the attention of the band and do something great for the enviroment at the same time. What we would like to do is plant as many trees as possible in order to offset the "Carbon Footprint" (see Activism) of PJ'S tour when they come southward (and I know they will!)

Below are some suggested links to foundations that will plant trees for small donations. They will even send you a certificate indicating that the trees have been planted and where they were planted. For as little as 10 bucks, only half the cost of your 10c membership, you can get 10 trees planted in honor of PJ's Southern Tour leg in 2007.

My 10 trees are planted and they should be photosynthesising as we speak. Once my certificate arrives, it will be forwarded to the 10c.

Folks, its entirely possible, with a little help we could get litterally thousands of trees planted with this little "Southern Homegrown Movement".

    The steps are simple:

    1) Pick a foundation from the links below (or any other that you like), or just visit your local home improvement
    megastore.

    2) Purchase your trees. (stealing your neighbor's trees and re-planting them is NOT recommended :D.)

    3) Have your certificate, if applicable, filled out to indicate that these trees were planted in honor of Pearl Jam's Southern US Tour in 2007.

Or, if you plant a tree at your house, just snap a picture.

    4) Send your certificate, printed email receipt or photo to the 10c at the below address.

** SNAIL MAIL IS THE OPTIMAL ATTENTION GETTING METHOD.**
on the outside of your envelope please write:
    "Trees for Pearl Jam Movement"

    It's that easy!

Let's really get the band's attention in a positive way instead of just bitchin and moaning!:)

And the 10c address to mail in that certificate or photo:

    PO Box 4570
    Seattle, WA
    98194-0570

THANKS AGAIN TO ALL WHO HAVE OFFERED A BOATLOAD OF AWESOME SUGGESTIONS AND HELPFUL LINKS AND THANKS FOR BEING ALL AROUND COOL PEOPLE! :D

LET'S MAKE THIS WORK! GO PLANT A TREE!

Facts From the Arbor Day Foundation Site:

Over the course of 50 years, a single tree can generate $31,250 of oxygen, provide $62,000 worth of air pollution control, recycle $37,500 worth of water, and control $31,500 worth of soil erosion.
    __ __ ____ ___ ___ _____ ___ _____ ___ ___ ___ __ __ ___

So, based on the list we have so far (if youve planted a tree or ten, please add your name to the list that's circulating):

We will have generated $ 4,687,500.00 worth of oxygen, provided $9,300,000.00 worth of air polution control, recycled $5,625,000.00 worth of water and controlled $4,725,000.00 worth of soil erosion!!! :D

How about those numbers boys and girls...all from 15 people planting 10 trees each for a grand total of only $150 !!

So, let me reitterate my point again in another way...for only $10...1/2 the cost of your 10c membership, 1/3 the cost of a tour poster (about 1/10 if you go and flip it on eBay) or the roughly the cost of 9 Wendy's Bacon Jr. Cheesburgers (plus tax)... you can help out a great cause and get PJ's attention in an environmentally friendly way....

Help us offset the "Carbon Footprint" (see Activism header on 10c website) of PJ's tour, (and hopefully grab enough of their attention that they will add the South to their 2007 tour itenerary), by coughing up measly 10 bucks on your next payday (you're only gonna blow it on booze and smokes anyway)..... visit one of the suggested websites today and......

PLANT A FEW TREES so PJ will PLAY THE SOUTH!
