thats true. did someone do something to you recently because of jealousy?"I'll ride the wave where it takes me.."0 -
As other wise folks have said, it's just a manifestation of insecurity.0

wouldnt that interfere with your haircut schedule?oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.0 -
seriously, the concern is over length, which is irrelevant. it's all about girth.
actually I think people get jealous because they don't really ever get their fill of cake. like Steinbeck said "there is a whole mountain of cake, and some people still will not eat their fill" (east of eden) so, even if they are not hungry - they have to be envious of what they DONT have...sad really.IF YOU WANT A PLATE OF MY BEEF SWELLINGTON, YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO PAY THE COVERCHARGE.0 -

sad?
so you think it's sad for someone to want to know what love is?
do you think it's sad for a homeless person to have stable home to go to?
do you think it's sad for sad for 40 year old virgin to want to have sex?
do you think it's sad for a woman who can't have children to want to have a baby?
do you think it's sad for a deformed person to what to be normal?
the list can go on.0 -

agreed.
sure, i may look at others and admire/appreciate what they have...but not jealous b/c you just don't know what else is going on in their lives. i think more than anything jealousy is an insecurity issue. if you are jealous, you must not feel happy/content with yourself and/or your situation, whatever it may be. sure, we all want to strive for more...but true jealousy is above and beyond that. definitely a wasted/pointless emotion, it changes nothing but can drive you nuts i would imagine!Stay with me...

i see, so would you still say "very sad" if you were an orphan and your parents gave you over into a childrens home because they didn't want you.
then picture yourself being really alone, and then one day seeing this kid who get picked up by his/her parents, and you don't, kid who's parents come to school parent's meeting, and your's don't.......so pictured it yet?
there you go, that's what envy feels like0 -

you said it for me in your post, jealousy will drive people to strive for more, which is a good thing in the end.0 -

i do NOT see jealousy in a positive light, at ALL. jealousy is petty, rooted in insecurity imho. to strive for more in life is to believe you DESERVE more, want more, work for more....jealousy has nothing to do with it. perhaps SOME people may get 'motivated' by jealousy...but for most, i think it poison.Stay with me...

because i would assume most people would be against me in here
But I really think the OP is thinking more along the lines of the real shallow type of jealousy and not what you are thinking...the envy of just wanting to be like others or knowing you are not a stranger to the human race. I dig what you are saying.
And Saturnal...nice!Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome
