So, go ahead and rant about politics, Ed. Just wrap it up quickly
Nice. I can deal with libertarians. Actually this country would be WAY better off if it was more libertarian.I pledge to you a government that will not only work well, but wisely, its ability to act tempered by prudence, and its willingness to do good, balanced by the knowledge that government is never more dangerous than when our desire to have it help us blinds us to its great power to harm us.

I think the "liberal spew" of which you speak has become vastly overrated. I went to five shows on the last tour. The only political comment I can really think of from those five shows was a dedication of "Fuckin' Up" to our president, vice president and secretary of defense.
And that was it.
Maybe there was more on the Vote for Change Tour, but I didn't go to any shows then.
So, what I'm saying is, I think you've exaggerated the length and frequency of this "liberal spew" or "rants" or whatever you'd like to call them.everybody wants the most they can possibly get
for the least they could possibly do0 -
Speakers wrote:McCain is way more evil than Obama.
Two thoughts:
1) How could you possibly claim to know this?
and 2) "Evil?!?" Really? That's the word you're going for. "Evil?!?" Political discourse is difficult enough in this country without one side or the other stooping to ridiculous melodramatics.
I'll leave it there, lest this thread beg to be moved to the Train ... Go Pearl Jam!everybody wants the most they can possibly get

National Healthcare certainly has good intention behind it, I can't fault him or other Democrats for that, but it just won't work. Subsidizing insurance costs is only the first stage of his plan. He eventually wants to nationalize the entire system, like Canada. The quality of the healthcare will be significantly reduced, the traditional government bureaucracy will overrun the system causing extensive waits and backups for surgeries and doctor visits, medical breakthroughs will hardly ever occur in the United States anymore, doctors will no longer be private practicing, they'll be government employees earning much less than they are now; all of these things are fostered by competition between businesses which would be eliminated by National Healthcare. By no means do I think I deserve good healthcare just because I have the ability to pay while others get nothing. I just don't think this is the solution.
There already are extensive waits and backups for surgeries, specialists, ER visits, PCP visits, and I think we (doctors) no longer practice privately since we are controlled by insurance agencies, HMOs - diagnostic tests and treatments are controlled by them.0 -

i would rather he keep the politics in his drunken rants and out of his lyrics from now on, and keep it to a couple of minutes, please. I could go the rest of my life without hearing such 'gems' as No More War, Army Reserve, and Bushleaguer.
Of course, he wont, but its all good. i need a pee break anyway.0 -

The whole time i'm thinking to myself ,"goddamnit they could be playing Immortality right now instead of preaching to the choir!"
oh i dont expect him to change now, and it doesnt really bother me that much, and i even agree with him for the most part. still dont like it though. The music makes up for it.0 -
oh yeah, it seems that he has scaled the political stuff back a lot lately. And he generally seems to be more respectful than before.
so i dont agree that it has gotten more political.0 -
