I am a die hard Yanks fan / Sox hater but I can salute a great pitching performance when I see one. Congrats to Lester. He pitched a hell of a game.Hey, you wouldn't hire a clown to fix a leak in the jon so why do you let these hooligans tear down the biz? YEEAAHHH. I don't care if he is Mr. Notorious BIG, can he croon?0

He deserves a no no more than anyone else in baseball for sure!! To bad Gavin Floyd from the Chi Sox has flirted twice without success. 7 2/3 inn, and 8 1/3. But it couldnt have happened to a more deserving guy than Lester!!!0

Great job tonight by Lester. Such a remarkable story and the kid has a bright future ahead of him. I'm really glad the Sox chose to keep him and not mortgage their future for Santana.
Also don't forget about Tek, he set a record catching his 4th no hitter tonight.- Busted down the pretext

Lester's performance led Sportscenter tonight. Nice, very nice.

Excellent game for Lester. I watched the first few innings but flipped away when the lead got big. I wasn't even paying attention to the fact that he had a no hitter going... :(I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.0

some would say he's enjoying the game, others would say he's showing up the other team when he hits a HR and stands in the box admiring his shot, and staring at the pitcher. My question to you, if you're a Red Sox fan, would you love it if ARod, or Jeter, or any Yankee hit a HR at Fenway, and stood in the box until the ball cleared the wall, and looked at the ball, then looked at the piutcher, then looked at the ball again, then the pitcher again, and then, finally started to trot?
The hypocrisy involved is the biggets problem I have with Manny. It's great when Manny does it, but if the other team does it, Tommy Toughnuts Varitek, in full body armor, wants to fight that guy. And all the drunken Sullies in Fenway would storm the field and try to stab any yankee who pulled that bullshit stunt
Anyway, very impressive by Jon Lester. I tip my cap to him. I'd be a bit more impressed if he did it against a major league team, but still very impressive, nonetheless0 -

I met and talked to Manny last year at the Sox Spring Training opener and he was fun to talk to. No different than when he's on the field, the home plate anomolies I don't care for. I never did them when I played and I certainly don't like to see RS players playing that way. As for Jeter awesome as usual but as for Arod until he brings a championship he would get to hear harsh words. At least Manny has brought the Red Sox a few championships which may have opened the way for his playful behavior. Let's see what Arod can do and maybe he'll start to have some fun.
I wouldn't need to be drunk and not all Sox fans are *drunken Sullies* to react inaappropriate behavior on the field. Lester was awesome last night I hope he can keep it up and last time I checked KC is in the major league they might even have as good record as the last place Yankees.

what a great night for Lester. Cancer survivor and baseball player. Just unbelievable.
Oh, and how pissed is Hank? His 2 young studs are getting hammered while the Sox young aces throw no hitters.9/7/98, 8/3/00, 9/4/00, 4/15/03, 7/1/03, 9/28/04, 9/29/04, 5/24/06, 5/25/06, 6/17/08, 6/22/08, 6/28/08, 6/30/08, 5/17/10, 10/15/13, 10/16/13.0 -

Hey, it's our house. It's not like Manny does that anywhere but Fenway. He knows when to do it plus he is playing for his teams fans more than anyone."If you're not living on the edge you're taking up too much room."

I was talking about on television, it led off their sports programming show. The Spurs could've been the lead but John Lester's performance stole the show.

Manny does his shennigans all over the place whether it's at home or away. It's whatever comes to his mind, I must say I loved it last week when he caught that ball and gave a fan some dap then tossed the ball back into the cutoff for a double play.
Now that was awesome!

adam42381 wrote:That's actually completely false. Manny does it at other ballparks as well, not just Fenway. I think other teams get the sense that he's having fun. A friend of mine (Cardinals fan) and I had the conversation this past weekend that he couldn't believe Manny doesn't get thrown at more often for showing up the pitcher. I am not justifying what he does because I wouldn't want Arod or anybody else doing it but I really think it's just part of Manny having a good time. Oh, by the way, here's some proof that Manny doesn't just do it at home.

I found this interesting. Since Hellfish brought up Jeter and A Rod, since Manny joined the Sox in 2001 going into the season, he has been hit by 48 pitches. In the same time frame, Jeter 81 and A Rod 96.
I really think opposing fans more than pitchers are upset by Manny's theatrics or else he'd be thrown at a lot more.- Busted down the pretext

Since A Rod became a Yankee in 2004 which also has signaled a switching of the fortunes of the two franchises, Manny has been hit by only 24 pitches, A Rod 55 including 21 times last year.
Btw, anyone else remember that Lester was supposed to be part of the deal that would have sent Manny to Texas for A Rod?- Busted down the pretext
