  • I hope he rants on and on about the important issues we face, I love to see people get fired up about things instead of just shrugging. But I would prefer
to not have him push his preferred candidate on everyone...and I feel he probably won't because I don't remember him praising Kerry too much in 04.

its part of the show experience, it wouldn't be the same if Ed didn't go on a political rant, "poetic license", and he's usually right!
    don't gimme no lip !
  • ok, then why complain about it
because i dont like being preached to by rock stars, and neither do a lot of other people, even if i agree with them. I dont think he helps his causes much either except by raising awareness of smaller issues people might not know about (WM3). that doesnt bother me. But thats not politics.

Ya...and its obvious YOU will never change that. I love the political rants and even if only a few listen its more of a difference than you and your mama will ever make!

i like how because people are rockstars they are not entitled to share opinions on issues. . .just go get your beer and shut up and enjoy the music then, you should be grateful for the intermission

I'd just like Eddie to talk about something else for a change. There's a million other subjects out there, and political rants just seem to put everyone in a negative mood.

Maybe I have stronger opinions than others, but I find it "hard to imagine" being someone in the spot light nationally/internationally and not wanting to bring up issues that I felt were important to future generations...

Even if it came out to the simplest..."GET YOUR ASS OUT AND VOTE!"

I have NO problem with Eddie taking a minute and saying 'go register to vote and make sure you vote... blah blah blah'

That's cool - its important that everyone votes no matter where you stand.

I also find it cool when he talks about local things because for some reason it makes me feel like he truly cares about the city the band is playing in.

I just get annoyed when he spends a lot of time going in the usual rants - I would rather an extra song or two... I'm not one of those 'shut up and play' people but at the same time if I want to go to a political roundtable I'd like to see that on the ticket ;)

Got ya..but...have Eddies political "chats" been really that long? 5-10 minutes tops in a 2-3 hour show? How can that really take away from anything unless its largely just an opposing view a fan can't stand to hear?

you're not gonna get an extra song or two based on at most 5 minutes of banter. . .it probably means you're just leaving 5 minutes earlier

Well... they play what is on the setlist. You won't get extra songs if Ed talks less.

That's debateable... if its just 3-4 minutes over the course of a show you're probably right. If its like Lolla where it was a few times for a few minutes at a time... it very well could have cost a song or two and having been there I was annoyed because I thought the set was shorter than it should have been to begin with.

Either way - can we let this thread die or move it to the politics forum? :)

there seems to be more and more liberal spew each tour, and with this year being an election year, i"m guessing eddie will have something to say, so who else is tired of it???

Buy a dvd and fast forward...give your ticket to someone who appreciates the concert experience.
