"Red Sox Nation?" What a bunch of [expletive] that is," he said in an interview with The New York Times' Play magazine. "That was a creation of the Red Sox and ESPN, which is filled with Red Sox fans.

"Go anywhere in America and you won't see Red Sox hats and jackets, you'll see Yankee hats and jackets. This is a Yankee country. We're going to put the Yankees back on top and restore the universe to order."

What a COMPLETE BAFFOON Hank Stienbrenner is as in another outspoken moment, denounces Red Sox Nation.

Well he must of completely forgotten the Boston Red Sox led MLB last year in road attendance. Where's your "Yankee country" now, go have another drink Hank you surley could use it?

I would like to see official statistics on the Red Sux leading road attendance. Because I highly doubt it. That being said, Hank Steinbrenner is the man! The fact that when George is gone and passed, he will be taking over the Yankees makes me so happy. His father is the best owner in sports history. No one has ever cared more about their team, and more about winning than George, and it seems he instilled the same beliefs in his sons.

He's right too, Red Sux nation was created by New England loving ESPN annalists and the media. There was no such thing as Red Sux nation until 2004 and in a few years it will be nothing but a pimple on the face of the Yankees.

Take your two rings and cherish them. It took the Sux 86 years to have fans. Same thing for the Pats. It's a bandwagon country, and the Pats and Sux are in the front conducting.

Buckner, Boone, the Babe, and 18-1. Deal with it.

Actually Red Sox Nation started in 1986, was written about in the 90's extensively in Boston (check globe articles and the 2 Shaughnessy books), but, and Steinbrenner is right the new corporate RSN came about when the new management teamed up with the Sawx loving media members of ESPN (see: Peter Gammons, Bill Simmons, Bob Ryan, Michael Smith, Michael Holley, Jackie Smith, Skip Bayless, and Eric Kusilias) to make this thing called Red Sox Nation. Unfortunately I think they here to stay.

I can't wait for Hank to fire Brian Cashman. After that he will deplete the farm system that Cashman has built up chasing after over-rated shitbags that can only hit.

The reason why the Yankees won those series back in the 90's was because they had George locked away in a closet and they gave the young kids a chance to play. If George was around those banners from those four seasons would have never happened because he would have traded Williams, Jeter, ans Pettite.

Here's the stats that really count: 2 World Series wins in the last 4 years for the Sox and 0 in the last 7 for the Yanks.

Who are these Buckner, Boone, and Babe you speak of? I have a good memeory of A-Rod shrugging at second base after her bitch slap of Bronson Arroyo's glove with her big Hamburger Helper mitts.

I will worry about the Yankees when they actually get some real pitching.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me.

What???? The Red Sox won them...with a $20 million LF, $30 million for two starters (04), a $17 million starter (07), an $8 million closer (04), a $10 million catcher, etc. Of all World Series champions, they have the honor of doing it with the two highest payrolls. Boston won those rings EXACTLY how the Yankees did in the late 90s. All within the rules mind you, just don't start thinking they're the Minnesota Twins.

And as a Yankee fan, Hank worries me. Overall I was a George fan, but wish he had stayed out of the baseball ops side. He also could have held back on some of the comments about Torre, Cashman, Jeter, etc. Hank has a lot of those traits, but doesn't seem quite as bright as George...hope Hal and co. can get him in line at some point.

Edit: Don't forget the $12 million DH!

combine all the numbers above and thats not even half of what the yankees spent on talent in the 90's. i respect most of the spew pork skankees, but the management is disgraceful and classless.

Lol, so the Sux had the best road attendance in 04 and 07, and you say they're not bandwagon? The Yanks only played 161 games last year and still pulled in almost 1.5 million more fans than the Sux. I didn't think about it before, but those are obvious bandwagon numbers. Lol, 2004 and 2007..

And someone else said that Steinbrenner only cares about money.. so he spends the most money in baseball every year..? It's clear he only cares about money.. since he loves to spend it...

And we come to the pitching comments.. The Yanks have 3 or 4 of the best young pitchers in the game. Purposely, for the last 2 years, they held these guys back while the old vets whittled away. Now, for once, we don't trade the new talent to get the old in Santana, and we hang on to Kennedy, Hughes, and Chamberlain. If our rotation doesn't completely dominate this year, it will next year.

They pulled in 1.5 million more fans because Yankee Stadium has around 20,000 more seats than Fenway Park.
