Not saying it's his fault. But the 2 games Posada's caught since coming back. The other team has been scoring on us.I miss igotid880

Wild one today. Wish I could have watched it. We got the Dodger game here and no games were televised on the baseball package because of FOX's exclusive rights. Watching the highlights made it look like the game of the year.Brian0

a lot of the "experts" think he was a huge reach at #44, but the yankees seem to like him. LHP with a good curve who says he models his game after andy pettitte. his velocity has only been in the mid-to-upper 80s but that might be because he's recovering from a recent injury.
interesting pick. not much velocity but they say he really knows how to pitch. good command, good movement, changes speeds well, nasty cutter...
yes he did. actually, i think he drafted his son. but don't quote me on that. st. louis drafted scott boras' son. suck ups. i wonder who his agent is?
he fell to the yankees because of money. he wants a million dollars to sign. this is a common aspect of the MLB draft. first round talent often falls deep in the draft because of signability issues (e.g. carmen angelini in '07, dellin betances and mark melancon in '06, and austin jackson in '05). brett marshall is a classic example of this. it now becomes an issue of whether or not the yankees are able to sign him, and right now it looks very promising. chris dwyer (36th round) is another major signability case.
signability is also why gerrit cole and casey kelly fell to the yankees and red sox, respectively. i'm pretty psyched about cole. it sounds like he's the guy the yankees were hoping would fall to them all along (and this is him at age 12). classic "high risk/high reward" pick. this is the second year in a row that the yankees may have gotten the best raw arm in the draft (brackman in '07), although the farnsworth comparisons worry me a little.
scouting reports on cole (you'll have to scroll down to #28 for some of them): MLB.com | rivals.com | ESPN.com | Baseball America | nomaas.org
corban joseph sounds like a professional hitter. excellent mechanics at the plate. check this out. exciting stuff...
chris smith put up some fairly decent high school numbers this year: .708/.744/1.361. that's a 2.105 OPS.
luke greinke (12th round) is zack greinke's brother.
keep an eye out for pat venditte (20th round). he's a "switch pitcher." i'm not sure how high his ceiling is, but it's definitely an interesting pick. you don't see too many of those...
nomaas.org is running a very insightful draft blog this year. it's definitely worth checking out (especially since the major league games aren't worth watching). lots of info on the draft picks and their signing status.
did anyone actually watch the draft on ESPN? both bud selig and peter gammons supposedly grimaced when the yankees selected cole. how awesome is that? and apparently gammons was noticeably angry after giambi's hit his walk-off HR.
EDIT: damn, 6-5 now??? i should keep posting. it's almost as effective as growing an uneven mustache...
thanks for all the info. good stuff0 -

yeah, that's total bullshit. I can see blocking out the 4:00 games. I don't like it, but I understand it. But there's no reason to block out the 1:00 games. Nice job, Interim Commissioner Bud Selig, you have eliminated Saturday afternoon baseball. Now, most games are played at 7:00. baseball was made to be played during the day, but the sheer greed of Bud Selig, so-called traditionalist has pretty much eliminated it. Of 15 games played today, 10 were night games.0 -
2-2 split in 4 close games at home against the Royals!!!
Jose Guillien...
9-for-16 in the four-game series with four homers and 10 RBIs, and also scored six runs to help the Royals gain the split. 2 of those homers of Mariano in the 9th to take the lead. Today to win the game.PJ - 36

Ugh Guillen killed us this series! And Mo' gave up his second 9th innning HR in the past few days.
I really thought Melky was going to come through in the 9th.
Now, they're off to the west coast where they never really play that well.My lips are shaking.......0 -
