  • not looking good:

The New York Times reports that Yankees SP Chien-Ming Wang's foot injury is showing all the symptoms of a serious Lisfranc ligament issue, a problem that could sideline Wang for the rest of the season. Yankees RP Brian Bruney sustained a similar injury when he tripped while covering first base in April and is expected to miss a minimum of three months.

I hope not. the Indians will be asking for a king's ransom, rightly so. Then, he'll be looking for a Zito type contract after this season. The system has been stocked with arms. let's see what some of them can do.

I am a life long fan as well and I am so done with him. Blaming the national League??? Please, Bruney got the same injury covering 1st base!! Injuries are going to happen, deal with it and move on. He complains about EVERYTHING. Him and the "poor Yankees"....WAH, I am saying this and I am a fan. HA.
Hey, you wouldn't hire a clown to fix a leak in the jon so why do you let these hooligans tear down the biz? YEEAAHHH. I don't care if he is Mr. Notorious BIG, can he croon?
  • yeah, utterly stupid thing to say. Pitchers probably do more running than any other players on the team. What, does he want to have a DH in all 7 games of the World Series. I'm no big fan of interleague play, but not because of this. Like myhook, said, he could have just as easily done it covering first. Speaking of Bruney, I read today that he opted for rehab over surgery and could be back shortly after the AS break
  • Ok...granted he's 1B, but I'm seriously thinking Giambi has turned himself into a possible All-Star candidate this year. He's now at 17 HR's and 40 RBI's and has a sick stache. Especially with Ortiz on the DL he should have a shot.

Is it possible he makes the All-Star team??? I know it sounds crazy but hear me out. With Ortiz on the DL, here are Giambi's rankings compared to the rest of the other AL 1B:

    Runs: 3 (37)
    HR: 1 (17)
    RBI: 4 (40)
    Avg: 5 (.268)
    OBP: 1 (.400)
    SLG: 1 (.595)
    OPS: 1 (.998)

He leads all AL 1B in 4 of the 7 main categories. And his defense has not been that bad.

With all the 1B injuries in the AL this year i think Giambi's true competition for the All-Star bid really come down to...
    Morneau
    Ortiz (who'd be out anyway)
    Youkilis
    Maybe Detroit...Cabrera/Guillien

I'd think he's get in. I'd figure Jeter and Rodriguez and Rivera go for sure. You can make arguments for Mussina, Matsui and Damon as well. (as of today)

  • I think Mussina's a lock at 10 wins and a few weeks to go. I think Giambi won't get in, because there will already be 4 Yankees, and you still have to represent each team. There will be 10 guys between Yankees and Red Sox.

On a related note, what a joke that pedroia is leading at 2B. Anyone who would vote for him over Kinsler is just a homer, and shouldn't be allowed to vote

    here's your probable starter

BA AB R HR RBI BB KO SB
    .269 294 42 6 32 19 28 7

and here's the current runner up

BA AB R HR RBI BB KO SB
    .305 295 60 10 42 21 43 17

True but in all fairness compare Jeter and M.Young. I love Jeter but he doesn't deserve to be the starter or even really make the all-star team this year.
