    Right now I'm working for Geek Squad on North Ave.. I hate my job. If I have to hear another idiot have a nervous breakdown because their hard drive crashed and they lost four years of college work.. I'm just going to drink more alcohol after work. lol.

    And they traded Craig Monroe, and will not be resigning Trachsel (thank christ), Kendall or Cliff Floyd.

    Also heard Dumpster will most likely be moved into the rotation with the closer being Wood/Howry/Marmol.

    The Cubs are searching near and far to fill needs in the outfield, starting rotation and bullpen. That's far as in the Far East. They are certain to become a serious bidder for Japanese outfielder Kosuke Fukudome, and could go after starting pitcher Hiroki Kuroda and reliever Hitoki Iwase as well.

    The left-handed hitting Fukudome, who does not have to go through the posting process, could command a five-year, $60 million free-agent deal. No problem for the Cubs, who desperately need a left-handed presence to balance their right-handed slugging trio of Alfonso Soriano, Derrek Lee and Aramis Ramirez. That's why signing one of the premier center fielders on the free-agent market – Andruw Jones, Aaron Rowand and Torii Hunter – is less attractive. They all bat right-handed.

    The Chicago Cubs have until Dec. 12 to agree to terms with pitcher Mark Prior or decide between offering arbitration or cutting him the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

    Chicago GM Jim Hendry isn't tipping his hand on specifics. But it probably will come down to whether Prior agrees to include an option year on a one-year contract to prevent the Cubs from paying him to regain form in 2008 only to get leveraged against his free agency in 2009 the Sum-Times said.

    Prior, whose best-case prognosis for a return to the mound is early in the 2008 season, is in his final winter of arbitration eligibility. He made $3.575 million last year, and because teams are not allowed to cut the salaries of controlled players by more than 20 percent, he cannot be paid less than $2.86 million by the Cubs, whether he reaches an arbitration hearing or not.

    I'm pumped about the Wood re-signing. I mean he was very effective late last year as a relief pitcher. He can't start anymore, but he can pitch his incredible fastball for a good inning or two. From what I hear, the Yanks and Red Sox offered him more money and more years, but he declined and took a smaller one year contract from the Cubs. He showed loyalty and I like that. Wood is the man.

    They should really focus on the biggest problem the Cubs pitching staff faces, that being Rothchild. That guy sucks some serious ass!

    I don't mind them resigning Wood. If he stays healthy....LOL!!!!..yeah, I know...
    If he stays healthy I think he could be a monster as a reliever!

    Prior should be let go IMO.

    I can only imagine him going elsewhere, getting healthy and winning 20.

    The Chicago Cubs have toyed with the idea of moving Alfonso Soriano out of the leadoff spot for 2008 the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

    However, manager Lou Piniella said that won't happen unless the Cubs ''add a couple of speed players to the mix.''

    Piniella also plans to help Soriano, 31, avoid the leg problems he had in 2007 by resting him more in '08 — whether he likes it or not.

    The Chicago Cubs, who still go into the season with uncertainty at second base, hope their failure to land Kaz Matsui won't hurt them in their bid to sign Japanese free agent outfielder Kosuke Fukudome.

    Fukudome, a right fielder with a .397 career on-base percentage, is the higher priority for the Cubs, who hoped an agreement with Matsui might increase Fukudome's incentive for negotiating a deal with the Cubs.

    At least this year they didn't lie, say they weren't going to raise prices, then jack them up anyways. Way too expensive to hit a bleacher game these days.
