good or bad,... i've been out and above any "woodwork".

and if its Jim Morrison you are referencing ,
    its spelled " risin' ",
    not " risen' "

and maybe, if you're a Penguin fan, the more appropriate reference would be " The End "

  • Captain Spaz... amen to that

I would kill to have Yorkie back. While we're at it I would love to have Norstrom back too. At least we have something to cheer for after all these years. I tell myself sometimes that I cursed the Rangers by moving out to California. I left the summer of '97... the last year we made the playoffs before the drought. At least we finally pulled it off last season... hopefully 1 of many better years to come... even bought me a Lundqvist Jersey... first one since Leetchie
  • I want a Colton Orr jersey, that guy is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. I hope he continues to improve and gets in the lineup more. haha

    OILERS SIGN UP SYKORA

    By MARK EVERSON

August 12, 2006 -- After four big, bad playoff games, Petr Sykora's days as a Ranger are over. They may miss him more than they think.
The speedy winger with the speedier shot yesterday signed a one-year deal believed to be for $3 million as an unrestricted free agent with the Oilers, after a physical that included evaluation of his frequent groin injuries.

Sykora, who won the Stanley Cup with the Devils in 2000, came to the Rangers from Anaheim last January and pumped 16 goals and 31 points in 40 games for the Blueshirts. He disappointed them in their first-round sweep by New Jersey, failing to register a point while going a team-worst minus-5.

The Rangers had sought to sign Devil winger Patrik Elias, actually outbidding New Jersey, last month, but made their big plunge by signing Brendan Shanahan.

Only 29, Sykora was the Devils' first-round, 18th overall choice in 1995, and scored 35 goals and 81 points for New Jersey in 2000-01. He has played at least 73 games in each of his seven full NHL seasons.

NEW YORK (CP-AP) - New York Rangers right-winger Jed Ortmeyer has been diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism.

Ortmeyer, 27, is set to undergo further testing this week and will be out of action indefinitely, the team said Monday in a statement.

The six-foot, 190-pound forward Ortmeyer signed a deal last month worth just over $550,000 US for next season and was expected to resume his role as a key member of the Rangers' checking line. He had five goals and two assists in 78 games with the Rangers last season, and led the team with 75 blocked shots.

In 136 NHL games over three seasons, the native of Omaha, Neb., has seven goals and six assists.

A pulmonary embolism is a blockage of an artery in the lungs, most commonly caused by a blood clot. It can lead to severe illness or death if left untreated.

We can't conceive of the purpose of Jed Ortmeyer's agent insisting that the forward will be ready in time for training camp after having suffered a pulmonary embolism last week. Fact is, the 27-year-old Ranger winger, who had previously suffered an embolism as an undergraduate at Michigan, is unlikely to play at all this season.

Evgeni Malkin has every right to attempt to escape what is quite clearly an oppressive hockey establishment in Russia, but comparing him to people such as Alexander Mogilny and Petr Nedved who previously defected from communist regimes in the Soviet Union and Czechoslovakia trivializes the courage it took for No. 89 and No. 93 - and those like them - to leave their homelands.

Rangers were close last summer to signing defenseman Nate Guenin, their 2002 third-rounder out of Ohio State, but chose to allow him to become a free agent on Aug. 15 because they believe his style isn't suited for the new-era NHL. The Flyers, who signed the 23-year-old, 6-2, 210-pounder, obviously don't agree.

    MICHELETTI EYES MSG JOB

    By ANDREW MARCHAND

August 22, 2006 -- MSG Network has settled on Joe Micheletti as its top choice to be its Rangers TV analyst, The Post has learned.
If final negotiations end smoothly, then Micheletti will replace longtime Blueshirt analyst John Davidson starting next season. Micheletti has been the Islanders' TV analyst since the 1998-99 season. While he is expected to team with Sam Rosen, Howie Rose's new partner on Islanders' games is yet to be determined.

Though not many people saw Micheletti's analysis with the Islanders since their ratings on Fox Sports NY are miniscule - he is a very strong replacement for Davidson. He will need to be because over the past two decades Davidson developed a strong bond with Ranger fans.

A little more than six weeks ago, Davidson left Rangers TV to become the president of the St. Blues after former MSG head honcho, Dave Checketts, bought the St. Louis franchise.

Micheletti played in the NHL with the Blues and the Colorado Rockies (now the Devils). He has been a hockey analyst since 1985.

An MSG Network spokesman declined to confirm the news.
