I used to BBS back in the olden days.

I logged onto one for the first time and needed an alias. I used to put MrX whenever I got a high score on a video game. MrX was taken so I had to come up with a new name.

I used to REALLY be into a band called Meat Beat Manifesto. At the time, a fairly current EP had a song called DV8. I love that track and it was 3 letters and easy to remember, plus it was kind of relevant cause I was a little different than everyone else :) I had a mohawk, skateboarded and listened to industrial music and techno (keep in mind this was the EARLY 90's).

Anyways. I met my future wife through a BBS that we were both on. About a year later, her brother (who was also on them) called me Deeve (Short for DV8). He and his friends all called each other by their online aliases when in person, true geek....

Since then Deeve stuck. Really I started using it cause I got tired of explaining DV8. Now I really just have more explaining to do....

The really bizarre thing was when I bought last car, my wife tried to get me a vanity plate "DEEVE". It was taken.... WTF!!! When I bought my last motorcycle she tried to get me that plate as well... TAKEN! WTF! Deeve. Who the fuck else uses that?

  • I picked it randomly from the song I had in my head some day that I was going to start a new e-mail , it was London's Burning, in the lyrics it is "London's burning with boredom now London's burning dial 99999" but no e-mail server accepted "dial". Guess I just liked it so much that I use it for everything now :)

  • wakeupscreaming is a song covered by another of my favourite bands; the queens of the stone age. i forgot from which band they´ve covered it.
it´s an unreleased track (only released on vinyl), and sung in this version by nick olivieri. i just thought i should take this name because there are so many people taking pj songs as names, just a special one.

  • Given to Fly as special significance for me. I feel I was "Delivered Wings" at the San Diego concert in 2000. The "Fanview" I wrote after the 2003 San Diego concert will explain everything. Here it is....

    Natasha:

I just want to say thank you to the band for an AMAZING night. I saw them in San Diego in 2000 and during Given to Fly, I had a moment of clarity. I was in an extremely destructive marriage and during the song I knew my life would change...an overwhelming feeling of happiness came over me, I knew I deserved to be happy (odd, I know, but when you are in a bad situation, you would be surprised what you think). I knew I was free...didn't know how I was going to do it, but I knew everything was going to be okay. 2 months later I was out of the marriage.

One year (almost to the date) I met the love of my life and it was our love of Pearl Jam that brought us together...that was the clincher. Two similar souls AND we both love Pearl Jam...UNBELIEVABLE!

Nonetheless...when the San Diego concert came around this year I hoped...NO prayed that Pearl Jam would play Given to Fly. Full circle sort of thing you know? Our friends who went to both Irvine shows told me not to get my hopes up as they had played it consecutively prior to the San Diego show. I noted their warning but knew I would hear it...everything about my life the last 3 years has been a series of serendipitous occurrences.

When the concert opened with the audience singing Betterman...I knew I was in for it. This was a special night. The energy was not of this earth...completely surreal. Do the Evolution came next (one of our favorites) and me and my boyfriend Eric looked at each other with an "Uh-oh" sort of expression. Then 2 songs later what happens???

    Given to Fly...

Yep, there it was. I began to cry. Eric hugged me and we danced for a moment. BEAUTIFUL. Our friends told us they saw us from the 4th row (we were in L12...above the floor) they were so happy for us. We were happy for us. : )

Other highlights for us were Daughter with the People Have the Power tag, Crazy Mary (one word: BOOM!), Blue Red and Grey and as if the night could get any better...

    ARC!!!!!!!!!!!

I was fairly certain I was going to spontaneously combust...I didn't, all's well. I do wish the audience would have kept quiet for ARC though, Ed seemed to be getting irritated that some wouldn't shut up. It was still beyond belief and I am honored to have been a part of it.

I know this fanview is a bit unusual...I needed to impart the gravity of the experience.

Thank you to Pearl Jam for sharing their love with us that night....I am forever grateful.

Peace, Love and Pearl Jam to everyone...

I considered myself a bibliophile for many years (until I gave a majority of my books to the public library so I could see out my windows.) I was going to create a comic strip called Bibliophile Bella (Bella is beautiful woman in Italian.) A co-worker at a Seattle bookstore mentioned Bibliobella in passing(this was about 3 years ago), and I decided my comic book superhero would be Bibliobella. It kindof rolls of the tongue, like ravioli so I use it for my username.

    Great thread.

First off, hiya weed! Long time no see.

Second...Deeve, I met my guy on a BBS as well (this one...well, the old threaded one). I always feel a certain affinity for those who've walked a similar road. Anyway, we'll make it legal one of these days ;)

Third...Natasha, beautiful story! We were at both of those shows as well - the only times I've seen PJ - and although our reasons for being so moved are different, I can relate in many ways. And I still remember how I felt when Ed began Arc...I felt so very fortunate. Still do.

I took my username because it's an accurate representation of who I (mostly) am. Indulging, caressing and pleasuring each sense is vital for me to enjoy life.

My last name is Kovacevic, and in grade 10 a friend tried to shorten it. He did it, but couldn't spell my name in the first place. And now Kovo has stuck, my girlfriend laughs if someone uses my real name, and every friend calls me Kovo.
