    I think you are missing the point that trends are probably more important than absolute positions. Focussing on where we are rather than where we are going, tends to send things backwards rather than forwards.

    Oh you mean like... when I got turned down for welfare for being a white male. Yea, I got over that too. But I wish they'd change the system to be more egalitarian. But, all these racial groups are crying prejudice and that just makes it worse for me. What can I do really?

    Dude, I wasn't around 40 years ago, I barely remember Rodney King. I was just a kid. How the fuck would I want that to change when it's already changed?

    I actually just read a couple of pages in the 50 reasons bla bla bla fart thread.

    Pretty obvious why it got yanked. You know...anger kills you inside....literally... as in you get a shorter life here on earth.
    Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
    and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
    over specific principles, goals, and policies.

    Yeah, as I said back on page 2 here, it bordered on inciting racial hatred, which is NOT NICE, or indeed even helpful !!!!!

    By making it race back you lose sight of the reality of the individual.
    one big reason is education...for athletics you don't need it, and it's an easy way out of a classed situation. secondly, who owns these players? third why don't we complain about the dispraportionate amount of whites playing suburban soccer, or in the winter olympics?

    But just think, today they are not. Huge progress has been made over that time, but it's gonna take longer yet. It might take a few more generations, but all of our societies are getting there.

    Poverty is a much bigger issue than race, but you don't fix that by giving people stuff, you fix it with education.

    Which brings me back to my question, just how many schools does Michael Jordan sponsor ?????

    Actually I will talk about it, but I can understand if others wouldn't.

    I was being sexually harassed at my job, along with my girlfriend who was also being sexually harassed by a different supervisor. Eventually my supervisor had me fired and my GF got a leave of absence because her OCD was peaking from the harassment.

    We had no jobs and quickly moved to a bigger city to look for work. We stayed with my cousin and his GF, he worked at the same company we were harassed at, but a different location. Never-the-less they couldn't afford to pay our way, we maxed out our credit cards while looking for work, applied for UI and everything before finally goint to welfare. All we asked for was a few hundred bucks. After a whole bunch of prejudicial bullshit we got $250 each. Immediately after I started working they insisted I pay all the money back. I didn't have a problem really paying the money back, except that I've paid more than $250 in to the stupid program and know people that have lived on it for years.

    amen. does anyone realize what it costs us because businesses had to set up bilingualy? for example; when you go to the social security website; you can choose spanish and it takes you to a spanish website. so the government has to build and maintain 2 different websites. other companies can pass those cost to us; the consumer. how is that fair? 1 group of people refuse to learn english and we pay for it. if we're going to be fair and equal; there should be a website for every language as people from every country immigrate here.

    anhimus, I agree with you that their are poor white people, I was one, and unfortunately you are dealing with that yourself right now. At the same time, however, there does exist a dispraportionate level of minorities that live in poverty, and as such race, class, gender, and sexuality must be considered together, not seperate even when we are looking at individual situations.

    You need to find a more constructive outlet that brings you happiness and a better outlook... trust me this line of thinking is not it.

    I just managed to negotiate my 3rd drum set today for a pretty killer price. It's a Yamaha Rock Tour custom set with loads of paiste cymbals in near mint condition for only $350. It's from a forced move sale...already played it a bunch...picking it up tomorrow.... unheard of price..... me = could nine...
