Phew, I can check that off the list.:)0

Agreed 100%, although I am OK with certain differences based on culture (use of Civil Code law instead of British common law, etc). Basically, I think ANY province should be able to do things a bit differently, assuming it is culturally appropriate to do so. Quebec shouldn't be "special" in this regard.0

This answer was better than mine. It was more intellectually informed. It was intellectually informed.'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'

I was hoping to get more responses from Quebecois but I figure that seeing as they only type and speak in French that they wont respond.>>>>

If we could get thankyougrandma and surferdude into this thread it would be worth grabbing a bowl of popcorn and watching the show."I'll use the magic word - let's just shut the fuck up, please." EV, 04/13/080 -

agreeded, the only reason I opened this thread was to see what thankyougrandma had to say, guess I'll check back later"I'm not suicidal, except when I drink. That's why we don't all drink at the same time, there'd be no-one alive to drive home..."

I don't want to step into the midst of Canadian politics, but may I say as an American who has visited Quebec City, that when I go there, it does feel like a different country, than say Toronto or Ottawa. This is only based on my perception. As to what should happen politically, it wouldn't be my place to say.R.i.p. Rigoberto Alpizar.

I have never been to Quebec and have always wanted to go and JaneNY I have heard what you said reiterated from countless friends. I understand that there is a different culture there and language but other than the language part Canada is different from coast to coast, if Quebec deserves special treatment then so does Newfoundland and we should all petition the preservation of the Newfy language. I am a wee biased on this though. Quebec wants all of Canadas glory and resources but they do not want to be Canadian ...atleast close to 50% of Quebecois feel this way anyway.
enharmonic: I think the first person to put the 'Q' in Quebec was that big snowman 'le Bon' I think his name is, apparently after a night of drinking and tortierre feasting he awoke with this epiphany.>>>>

Special treatment for provinces will still occur. We'll still have Employment Insurance set up specifially to maximize use in the maritimes. Or turning a blind eye to oil exploration pollution for Alberta. We'd just have one less have not province to send money to, and another new country to visit. It's not like Quebec would be moving and we wouldn't get to see them when we wanted.“One good thing about music,

Indeed ... Parts of Vancouver feel like a different country to me. For that matter, so does Toronto ... I grew up in Saskatchewan, and its nothing like Toronto at all.0 -
Comment oses-tu dire que le Québec n’est pas consideré une nation a part entière! C’est honteux ! Vive le Québec libre !
sorry... just thought I'd throw that in.. you seemed to be missing the french speakers (I have to admit I'm not canadian though!!). I'll go back to getting dinner ready now....

AUCUN !
ps. I dont speak french, thank god for google language tools
TRanslation: Quebec deserves no more special treatment then they already have, its a bloody shame that they have as many seats in the House of Commons as they already do. I ask how many seats do the First Nations people of Canada have in the house ....... NONE!>>>>

Hehe Cree...
:D I'm not gonna enter that debate because I don't really have any particular opinion on it. But in a nutshell, if it is part of Canada, no special treatment. If it wants to be a province on it's own, then fair enough but they need to let go of the perks of being part of something bigger and do their own thing.
