Gun Laws in America

So how does it protect you, or how do you use it for protection then?THANK YOU, LOSTDAWG!

Should be ban muscles then too?0 -

I already answered this question, as did you. People who have guns pointed at them are likely to do what people holding guns tell them to do.0 -

How? I directly answered your question: if someone wanted to struggle with me over my gun, it would be unnecessary. I would simply hand it over to them.0 -

Uncle Leo wrote:You beat me to it. When people say "2nd Ammendment" then they better say that you should be able to have a tank parked in your garage and a missle silo in your back yard. Otherwise, the line has to be drawn somewhere.
I'm ok with any of the above. The "line" that is drawn is when that tank starts shooting at me."guns don't kill people, people do" is one of those commonly believed misconceptions. Think of it this way, if someone is going to try to rob you when you are taking money from an ATM, would you rather they have a gun or a knife? Wit the latter, at least you have a fighting chance.
I'd rather not have someone rob me at the ATM.All of that said, statistically, gun control is shown not to have an effect on violent crime rates. But this pertains more to handguns.
That's because you're blaming guns for choices. Guns don't make choices.Imagine a world without guns (some people shudder. It would make me happy)
I'd love a world without guns. But a ban on guns doesn't eliminate a single gun.0 -

Of course it does. It's highly unlikely that the man I'm pointing my gun at is going to ask me for the gun. Furthermore, it's highly unlikely that the man I'm pointing my gun at is going to attempt to fight me for the gun, particularly considering I wouldn't be pointing a gun at him if he was already pointing one at me.
The most likely event is that he simply walks away. That's what my gun is for.0 -

ok great. but a ban or extremely hard laws to get them would reduce the chances of crime where guns are used. and they are used in alot of crimes.0 -

Agree completely with you. One can't say 'it's useless because it doesn't completely eradicate the problem'. It's a start. Similar debate going on on the "Angry driver shoots egg-throwing teen". Could this incident have been avoided if guns had been banned? Maybe.... If not this one, many others could have....0 -

Yes, that is true. That is until those who make and sell guns figure out good ways around your laws. But it would be a delightful 6 months.and they are used in alot of crimes.
They certainly are used in a lot of crimes, as both defense and offense.0 -

I admire your ability to never fully concede. my point is to make those laws without loop holes or ways of "getting around them".farfromglorified wrote:They certainly are used in a lot of crimes, as both defense and offense.
I'd like to reduce or take away that chance on both sides of the ball0 -

Some people always find their way around laws but the majority of your 'average' citizen wouldn't know where to start.... Get those out of the way and you already have a great reduction in gun crime.0 -
jlew24asu wrote:personally I hate guns. They are intended for one purpose. To Kill. I would like to see extremely tough gun laws. much tougher then the ones already in place. and an all out ban on assault weapons like machine guns.
the second amendment right is as outdated as catholic priests not being allowed to marry. we shouldnt have the right to bear arms. it should be a privilege to those who qualify.
So you want an all out ban on machine guns and an all out ban on assault like "looking" weapons? Or are you just talking about fully automatic weapons?www.myspace.com/olafvonmastadon0 -

would have to draw the line somewhere I suppose on an all out ban. but whereever that line is drawn, I would want them extremely hard to get0 -

So would you be in favor of allowing a semi-automatic assault rifle?www.myspace.com/olafvonmastadon0 -

lol I dont know. I'm not gonna break this down gun by gun.0 -

Well that's what the last ban was on that was recently lifted, it only banned weapons that were perfectly legal because they "looked" like military weapons. You still can't get a real machine gun unless you have a Federal Firearms License, a ridiculous background check is conducted and an implant is put into your brain for tracking. Ha
A lot of people were really angry at this ban because it didn't achieve a thing except screw consumers and make enthusiasts really angry.
Guns are dangerous I'm not gonna church that up, but in the right hands they can be your savior, your deterrant, your hobby, your livelihood and a lot of fun too.www.myspace.com/olafvonmastadon0 -

well an all out ban is asking alot although I wouldnt be opposed. maybe I would be more happy with those same laws to get a machine gun apply to all guns. or something similar0
