in some quarters, that's hate speech :)

our system is set up so that the least able to pay have the best care, seriously, come to NY!

again, name an effective government program, then i'll (most Americans) will start to believe.

You'll be my effective go between for Abook, Hawk. I hope you're ready... Yeah, you're ready.

It's not about the system...it's about the guys running the system currently. All that can change.

No, I've just been in enough conversations to have finally learned its best to ignore Abook.

Abook is a cool poster and is passionate about her beliefs, don't be afraid to engage just b/c you disagree...You don't learn a helluva lot from people you agree with. Trust me, i have as many stereotypes about people on the other side of the spectrum as you do, but try to figure out "perspective."

No, I've just been in enough conversations to have finally learned its best to ignore Abook. Even though I've been away for 4 months and he couldn't afford me the same favor in another thread.

I have a tendency to throw sarcastic comments on the table that apparently offend him rather often. Sometimes I think it offends him every time I let one out because he responds to every one. Even when I'm talking to some one else, like you for instance. Every time we talk it's just a bunch of periods and letters...

I'm afraid..... You wouldn't understand. Plus, because of those little zingers I like to throw out from time to time he's been rather generous in his assumptions that I never have anything substantive to say. There within lies my propensity to avoid these forums. It's like talking to a box full of carbon copies.

But anyway, no, I don't suck tail pipes.

Aww, just let him stay in his little bitty box. It's safer in there. :p

and thanks for the kind words, Hawk :)

    stopped reading there...

if you canucks have "better" health care, why are you flooding Buffalo's and Cleveland's hospitals?

Answer: Government couldn't wipe their own ass efficiently...

keep health care "corporate' (i.e. free)

The only Canadians who "flood" American hospitals are rich Canadians who can't wait a week or a month to get a non-critical MRI . Trust me, there are far more Americans trying to pose as Canadians for free health care than there are Canadians "flooding" American hospitals. If you think that the insurance companies that "provide" health care coverage for you are not more interested in making money than making sure that you get the best treatment, then you are nuts.

IMO, the problem is with the lying, greedy people we put in office, not the system itself. The system can be used much more efficiently by people who actually have an interest in working for the people... not just the rich ones who buy them off. And the ones that would actually make great leaders are called 'long shots' and 'vanity candidates'.

Unfortunately, reality has proven that there are a series of broken systems here. The electoral system is clearly broken, the labor and economic system is clearly broken and as a result the health care system is broken. So to fix it, we have to use the propagandistic charade that our government has been using for centuries against them, which is the illusion of democracy. They will give it to us if we all move together on this.

There is no reason not to, we have nothing to lose. To wait until we can fix the other problems could take 100 years. Think of how many people will suffer and die in that time...

WE NEED A UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE SYSTEM NOW!
Freedom is a state of mind...

I trust the private sector over the govt...i don't believe that people working for the state a re "good" people, and I don't believe that people working for private industry are "good" people...but at least the latter are behaving on incentives....i'll trust my well-being to that over govt any day.

I wonder how many times you'll need to ask this question before someone will finally concede that it is unanswerable.
