IMO, the problem is with the lying, greedy people we put in office, not the system itself. The system can be used much more efficiently by people who actually have an interest in working for the people... not just the rich ones who buy them off. And the ones that would actually make great leaders are called 'long shots' and 'vanity candidates'.

Unfortunately, reality has proven that there are a series of broken systems here. The electoral system is clearly broken, the labor and economic system is clearly broken and as a result the health care system is broken. So to fix it, we have to use the propagandistic charade that our government has been using for centuries against them, which is the illusion of democracy. They will give it to us if we all move together on this.

There is no reason not to, we have nothing to lose. To wait until we can fix the other problems could take 100 years. Think of how many people will suffer and die in that time...

WE NEED A UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE SYSTEM NOW!

And I don't trust wealthy private sector "guys". I trust good people who I think would do a better job.

I trust the private sector over the govt...i don't believe that people working for the state a re "good" people, and I don't believe that people working for private industry are "good" people...but at least the latter are behaving on incentives....i'll trust my well-being to that over govt any day.

I wonder how many times you'll need to ask this question before someone will finally concede that it is unanswerable.

Abook is a cool poster and is passionate about her beliefs, don't be afraid to engage just b/c you disagree...You don't learn a helluva lot from people you agree with. Trust me, i have as many stereotypes about people on the other side of the spectrum as you do, but try to figure out "perspective."

I've engaged everyone on this forum. I hang out with a black guy, a gay black guy, a white guy, and two white girls. I love each and every one of them. I, a man, said it. Does that scare you? Four are liberals, 1's a "neocon" (as if there were anything else), and the other is a fence riding moderate. I'll let you play a game and place the proverbial political tails on the correct persons. I have the political grapevine delivered to me first-class. So please, I don't need lectures from anyone about "perspective." My political beliefs are far from right-wing, but that's the fancy little game you play by voting for Bush and thinking Al Gore's a nut job. You're either pro-Bush or you hate the world here. There's no inbetween. Trust me. We may find some common ground from time to time on the latest flavor of Ben & Jerry's ice cream but no one here wants to hear me talk about immigration or the economy... I voted for Bush.

Besides, Abook just hates me. :( Everyone has someone that hates them. It's a fact of life. I'm currently working on finding a Hispanic friend so I can finally satisfy the needed requirements to enter the liberal circle of trust.

Depends on where you live. Many fire departments are complaining of decreasing funding and are turning to a part or full volunteer staff.

so your team spies on americans, fucked up the intel for the iraq invasion, didnt prevent 9/11, tortures people, operates secret prisons throughout the world, and wastes godly amounts of money on failed projects that we could list all day (see missile defense). give me a fucking break. do you even know what your talking about. i find out more and more of the "free market solves everything" guys have no clue what they are talking about.

    Stalin was efficient.

And, "and wastes godly amounts of money on failed projects that we could list all day (see missile defense)" is more of a fill-in-the-blank answer than a statement. Government has always wasted money. This one is no different.

I thought Bush lied? Or was the intel just fucked?

And damn... didn't prevent 9/11? The only difference between 2001 and 1993 is the fucking towers didn't fall...

lol And boy oh boy... I'd absolutely love to tell you about the way money is pissed away in the housing sector. HUD, Section 8, ohhh my2hands... Do you even know?

bush did lie. bit i figured you guys believe your short friends bullshit so i ran with it.

and it is always the social programs with you guys. you never, ever fucking mention corporate welfare. like the billions we hand the energy industry every year. and yes, i am familiar with the welfare/HUD/section 8 programs. i have worked for quite some time with a mostly poor population.

You shouldn't figure. That's what Abook does. It's annoying.

As for the welfare/HUD/section 8 programs... Yes. I understand your point of view. Just because governemnt hands big energy billions every year doesn't mean universal health care works.

I understand this country MUST build more refineries. I understand big oil has a hand in the price of gas at the pump. I also understand it does not have a hand in the prices we pay for crude from the Middle East. Most any issue is a bigger web than the headlines we like to drop off onto each other. That's understood. If you keep digging you'll find that my political beliefs extend a bit further than my support of the war in Iraq. The same can be said from the opposing point of view.

    Psssst! I'm not religious either.

I don't hate you... I find the way you keep bringing me up to be quite flattering. I replied to you in the Iraq War Vet thread and ever since you've flipped out playing the part of some drama queen victim and acting as if I have it out for you...get over yourself. Just reply to posts if you feel the need and don't worry about me personally...I'll be sure to return the favor.
