I am in good shape. I can run away from most people with a sword. But I can't run from a bullet.

no, it would not make it difficult. you don't want anyone to have guns, but you know that's impossible. so, don't make it, or wish for it to be, such that only criminals would have guns.

I never said I want a ban on ALL guns. I want a ban on assault guns such as machine guns.

I agree people should be allowed to have small arms for protection, and have very strict laws to obtain those guns.

The citizens can't hardly stand in front of their houses with their pistols, rifles and shotguns while the government rolls into town to enforce their tyranny with tanks, missiles and bombs now can they?

In other words, the right to bear SOME small arms is all we have left, but it's a moot point now.

Back in the day, the citizens could stand in front of their houses with their rifles and have a reasonable chance of defending them when the government comes to town with their rifles.

My views fall all along the spectrum. I'm not just some right or left wing clone.

Concede what? That less guns means less gun crime? I certainly agree with that. Now, let me ask you something: how are you going to enforce your gun ban?

the same way drugs are enforced. arrest people who have them. make tough penalties for having them.

what kind of answer are you looking for? i'm sure you are aware how law enforcement works

No ways to get around them? So you're going to actively ban the production of guns?

why much to take it to such an extreme? Laws can be written and enforced for a very large portion of the public, criminals included, to not get a gun.

    Just scan news reports, etc.

The news doesn't report the gun owners that don't commit crimes.
A lot of gun crimes are not committed by hardened criminals but are 'opportunistic'. If they did not have a gun readily available, the outcome may have been different.

It certainly may have. If they didn't have arms, the outcomes may also have been different. Can I get you a saw?

I know. I have agreed with you a couple of times before. But many of us (myself included) are guilty of pigeon-holing people. After all, we are screen-names, not personalities. And you tend to (at least per my observation) be more conservative.

    How will you arrest them?

I am sure, that's why I'm struggling to understand your "gun ban".
why much to take it to such an extreme?

Because you said before that you were going to eliminate all the loopholes and any way to get around them. I don't think I'm the one who's taking it to an extreme.

Laws can be written and enforced for a very large portion of the public, criminals included, to make it hard to get a gun. If you think that any law can prevent anyone who wishes to from getting a gun, you're fooling yourself. Particularly considering how many guns are already out there.

Every country has different laws but just being a decent human being is universal. Perhaps I would rather live in this country where they are trying to combat violent crime in whatever way they can than live in a country with one of the highest rates of violent crime!

Can I get you a saw?

Wow.. good comeback! Throw a saw at me from a moving vehicle and I'd be extremely unlucky if I get badly hurt, let alone die (like that kid that was shot for thowing eggs)....

    police officers

I am sure, that's why I'm struggling to understand your "gun ban".

ok ready. I want a ban on some guns, not all.

call it optimism. I'm not a law maker or lawyer.

That's a fair assumption. I think I have more conservative views than liberal ones in general.

Nope.. and it doesn't report people who do not commit fraud. It doesn't report people who don't rape a child. It doesn't report.... I'm sure you get my drift.....

Once you cut off my arms (arms are used in 99.9% of violent crimes) with that saw, I won't be throwing anything at anyone.
