by you believing in something negative and saying I will go there... thats not wishing me well... I don't believe I will go there... that doesn't mean it wasn't meant negatively by the person who does believe it.

If i believe in a place called "no no" that is a very terrible place and say you are going there, whether you believe in that place or not I was essentially saying you're screwed and I'm not hoping the best for you.

i'm condemning people who thrust what they believe on me... like the "i'm praying for you" or "God says Hell for you" comments. i "believe" in science, if thats what you want to call it. You dont hear me saying "Oh, I'll go do a physics problem for you" or "trees will not grow because you will make a bad decomposer" when people talk about God. I just state that I don't believe it.

I'm not even sure of what I'm typing anymore, I've been sitting here for too long without nourishment... When I'm done I'll rise again up the steps and spread my word in this forum... :p

all i said is if you reject God; you will not enter his kingdom. i don't believe in a place called hell so i don't know what you're talking about. i believe you will enter a form of solitary confinement. that; or be reborn to this earth. or maybe both. but i wish nothing on you. you made your choices and you will live and die with them. you are nothing to me and i don't care what happens to you.

they think you are in-fact wrong. and neither of you has proof of it. so you're talking out your ass as much as they.

but yeah, justifying hate with religion is bad. im just saying, talk them out of the hateful interpretation of their religion, not the religion itself. that is for them to decide and has no impact on you.

Ah. The voice of reason. Thank you. :)

  • i work with a gay guy who makes fun of himself for being gay. i make fun of him, but b/c he is a dumbass. i always leave the gay part out of it. it sort of came naturally to not make fun of him for being gay. i wonder what that means.

why can't we just follow this,... it's jesus' main message, or even epictetus,...

"do unto others as you would have them do to you"

don't make fun of gay people. don't make fun of people with religion. even if they act like bitches, don't say anything,...

We both know that isn't going to happen. Their ignorance strongly impacts me. On the Canadian Charter of Human Rights "Whereas Canada was founded under the supremecy of god..." In the Canadian National Anthem "God keep our land..." in our courts "...so help me God."

Even on this forum, if we discuss abortion, homosexuality or anything, we invariably get a swarm of bible-thumpers proclaiming the word of God, fuck that. I'm through with that shit.

"Saddam Hussein and Adolf Hitler were good men and I agree with everything they were about." Does that statement warrant the same respect that you expect me to grant the crusaders?

and people insist that christians are the closed minded ones. Just a few pages ago you said there was no proof for or against God which means it may or may not be nothing. Which means the view you're holding goes against your previous statement. In order for you to know it IS nothing you have to know everything, which you don't...nor does anyone. Just insert the word I think into your statements and you'll get further than making blanket statements such as the above.

There is evidence against the biblical god, such as the bible is wrong. Anaesthesia causes a loss of consciousness, not to mention brain damage. We've objectively proven that consciousness is some how the product of the brain, and absent consciousness we have no experience and thus after-life is impossible. That's actually a proven fact, but with 87% or whatever living an illusion, they aren't going to accept the results, largely because they don't understand the experiments. Faith is a matter of ignorance. Knowing is a matter of knowledge.

that's evidence??? I love the thought process..there is evidence against the biblical God b/c the bible is wrong...that, my friend, is not evidence it's an opinion that you believe to be true.

You know what I think is megalomaniacal, is believing that humans are worlds away from animals. That we are somehow special, this entire universe was created for us and we have ultimate control over our own experiences, we live on after death while animals do not. That is megalomaniacal, it's grandiosity at it's purest form.

Are animals conscious, yes. I feel pain consciously, without the conscious experience of pain, I would not feel pain, consciousness is the way in which I feel pain. If a dog feels pain, it is the same thing, a conscious experience of pain. We have a more convoluted cortex, a more brain-focused evolutionary history, that's all, we are no better or worse, we've had just as long to evolve as influenza.

the problem once again is zeroing in on biblical. the bible was written by man; so using a book written by man to dispute the existance of God is insane. and how does science's inability to measure the activity of the soul proof that there is no afterlife? i think it only proves science is very limited and it's inabilities prove nothing other than its fallability.
