law school. i can write great bureacracy for you.0 -
jeffbr wrote:But...but...but...ummm...isn't that different? Don't we need the nanny state to guarantee our right to a fair wage for the working class?
Of course we do! And we also need the state to guarantee our right to equality. And with that right comes the obligation of everyone who makes more than $50,000 per year to sacrifice for the common good. After all, the state is able to more accurately assign value to labor than the market isn't it?
Certainly!!! We'll have the most respected economists determining exactly what your labor is worth. It will cut out all of the inefficiencies of the market and the inherent prejudices of racial and gender-based power matrices. Everyone will get paid what we tell them they're worth.0 -

This unfairly punishes single people. There's no way I could keep my house and my current (modest) lifestyle if I was reduced to $50K per year.
This is discrimination and I'm entitled to make more than that. The only people we should try to get even with...

But those people are victims of the rich! They're apathetic and lazy because they have no hope, no opportunity. We must force the more fortunate to provide that hope and those opportunities -- the more forutnate need to compromise and to cooperate.
People are jealous because others have more than they do. That's what we have to change! We have to redistribute the wealth back to the people who created it and are its rightful owners. Jealousy is proof that you are entitled.0 -

Hey - it's true. It would be tough to afford a decent house in a decent neighborhood on that salary.

Heineken Helen wrote:ah yes each person should be equal but somebody with 4 others to support isn't exactly equal to me on my single lonesome now, are they? I'm not usually one to give a crap about people with kids but this may just be a tad unfair.
It's only unfair because you refuse to cooperate! You should help those people with their children because, as we all know, it take a village to raise a child. They're only struggling because of your failure and their greed.0 -

"Modest"??? What's "modest" about it. You're alive aren't you? This is discrimination and I'm entitled to make more than that.
You're only entitled to make what the AMERICAN PUBLIC determines you're allowed to make. Your opinion is selfish and naive.0 -

Ahh..but if it's the MAXIMUM (and therefore only a select few should be earning it), then there will be a shift in EVERYONE's wages and in the end it will mean nothing. The only people we should try to get even with...

Exactly! Finally, someone who's taken an economics class.
Imagine the holidays you could take!! Since fancy hotels will no longer have the rich to cater to, they'll have to cater to people like us!0 -

But everyone will be equal! And equality means everyone gets the same thing. So there's no such thing as want because want is only based on what someone else has, right?0
