    after my stroke and subsequent brain surgery; my family was told that if i ever come out of the coma; i'd be a vegetable the rest of my life. he told them to wait 3 days and if i survive; to start making arrangements with a home.
    the mind can do great things but you must teach it how.
    and you can't teach a closed mind.

    Um......doesn't matter if the brain does give instruction to perfectly healthy muscle if the nerves don't work.

    Sad about your Dad lucy, I'm very sorry to hear it. :(

    But mental determination can play a part in the outcome for a patient.

    Perhaps not leaping out of a wheelchair in all cases, but certainly there are things that can be improved physically with the use of brain power.

    I agree that attitude and determination play a huge role in prognosis, but that is not the same as saying that the mind can control things when there is no connection, as you have pointed out, knowing it the hard way.

    With regard to Roland, teh family always gets the worst case prognosis when some-one blows an aneurysm, based on what has happened beofre. There is a lot owe still have to learn about brain plasticity and the ability for healing and relearning. I certainly hope you have deomnstarted a lot of brain plasticity, for your sake. No-one is happier than teh doctors when their gloomy prognoses are wrong.
