Yes he was, he was lunging towards the speaker, then trying to run from the police.
The police dont know if hes a media whore or a school shooter.Turn this anger into

It doesnt break your limbs, cause significant bruising, or greatly risk even more serious injury.
6 men trying to subdue 1 can lead to greater injury to both the person being subdued and the authorities attempting to stop them.
So even though it makes a good headline- the fact a taser was used probably was far better for his physical well being than attempting to hold him down physically.
It can also be enough to kill some people.0 -

His "questions" became a monologue, and they asked him to ask his question, then he insisted on asking three....but continued to ramble on, and they asked him to leave. he didnt leave, so they shut off his mic, because he kept talking and not allowing Kerry to respond.
but he lunged toward KERRY!!! WTF do you think they aare going to do , let him run right at the guy????
No, Im sorry, if you show any aggression towards a US Senator, and then resist arrest several times, and continue to yell like that, they used appropriate force to get him to stop after they told him what they were going to do.
lol...lunged...Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

Has it ever though?
I just searched Google for Taser Kills Person (real scientific) and got no matches indicating that it has actually occurered. I see lots of discussion by Doctor wanna be folks like us discussing if they CAN kill be people... but nothing indicating they have killed anyone.0 -

The thing is Skitch, in my view, the guy should never been approached by the police for apprehension in the first place. And contrary to your rationale in a previous post, they tased him while he was already on the floor and restrained.

I was just debating the general "there were 6 guys to stop him" rationale that was being used, and was pointing out that the taser may have been a safer way for Officers and Perpetrator to complete the arrest.0 -

Maybe you stated it earlier in the thread. Do you have any personal feelings on what you saw go down there?

A guy knew the rules of where he was.
A guy broke the rules.
A guy was asked to leave.
A guy wouldnt leave.
A guy was resisting arrest.
A guy got tased.
I see no problem with it... but im sure you'll disagree0 -

I'll spare the Barney Fife comparison on you, I think I know you better than that. Still, maybe a little too much Opie and Aunt B in your observation for my liking.
Sucks about the Tigers, eh?

Fair enough, as i indicated, my search wasn't too exhaustive..
However, its not a common occurance... and the 2nd one isnt a problem with Taser- its that it was being abused by the user- just like if they had hit her in the skull 10 times with a night stick. You can kill a person with just about anything if you use right.
I was just pointing out in most cases, a taser is going to be a pretty decent alternative to beating the crap out of someone.0 -

Basically, this is one of those issues that there is going to be no right answer for... but ultimately, in this case, i dont think the "protester" left them any alternative. At some point, authority becomes meaningless if people think they can continue to ignore orders.
Can we agree that this man needed to be removed from the room?0 -

Nope.
I wonder how Sheriff Andy would have handled it.
See, I think the guy was one who had a legitimate gripe, and he should be allowed to air it verbally. He's a journalism student, and he wasn't breaking any new journalistic ground by asking more than the allotted one question rule.
I hate fascists. People are gonna wanna call me out on this, but if you read your Constitution, and you read your Supreme Court rulings on self-defense, this student had every right in the world to oppose being arrested. He had lethal right to resist arrest.

So lets say the first student would have decided he was a Journalist... and needed to take all the allotted time? It wasnt a press conference... and how he acted was not as a journalist... if he was trying to be a journalist, he would have waited for an answer.0 -

Well, first and foremost, he is a 21-year-old student. A journalism major. In a crowd of journalism major students.
I guess you didn't read the story. He wasn't taking anyone else's time. He was the last in line and Kerry had actually reached the allotted question time but waved him forward to the mike anyway.

Please, he obviously had an agenda. He asked his one question... and then another.. and then started rambling. They turned his mike off. He kept going. They asked him to leave. He wouldnt.
If he was behaving as a journalist, he would have shown some level of decorum. Being a journalism major doesnt make you a journalist.0 -

Well, right, being a journalism major doesn't make you a journalist, but being a journalist in training shouldn't be a lesson in what angle you take in your questioning of an "important" political figure, either, to result in getting manhandled by goons. That isn't a lesson, that's fascism.
