Well, right, being a journalism major doesn't make you a journalist, but being a journalist in training shouldn't be a lesson in what angle you take in your questioning of an "important" political figure, either, to result in getting manhandled by goons. That isn't a lesson, that's fascism.

He wasnt manhandled for asking a question.
he was manhandled for being a disruption
he was manhandled for not following an instruction.

Thats not fascism, it isnt a lesson either- it was a reasonable solution to a situation that could have rapidly gone out of control.

Bullshit, Barney Fife. If you choose to continue to live with this sale of Paranoia that is being spread to destroy this Republic, you go right ahead. I don't need any Michiganders anyway.

Way to be a part of reasonable debate.

what the hell does paranoia have to do with it AT ALL. an asshole entitled jerkoff with an agenda got exactly what he wanted for being a douche.

No politics, no paranoia. He was a dickhead, and got tazed for it.

I just read through this thread, and its become apparent what a jerkoff you can be.

Dozens of people said the same things i did, but im the only one you decided to call a facist and "barney fife"- after specifically requesting my opinion, knowing full well what it was going to be.

    wtf.

Alright, here's the thing. If you can deny that America is being wholeheartedly sold out on the idea that 9/11 was "the day the world changed..." then you are the winner of this debate.
The way I see it is that you are such a sucker for that reasoning, and the all-encompassing shambles it makes of the right of individuals to simply speak out that you prove my point in your diminished reasoning by posting a comment like: "He was a dickhead, and got tazed for it."

The world did change.. a lot of people did buy into ridiculous paranoia and have allowed things to occur that wouldnt have otherwise. I still think its crazy that family members cant go into the airport terminal to see their loved ones off. It didnt make sense to me on 9/18/01, and still doesnt.

I think society is way too paranoid- the idiots that think we need to go to all these extremes to "protect" us from terrorists, and the people who are just as paranoid in the opposite direction- "the government was behind it all..."

But that has NOTHING to do with a guy getting tazed. As a journalist, he had every right to "speak out" in a professional manner- perhaps a strongly worded column. Instead he chose a public forum to be disruptive and uncooperative.. and ultimately there is, and always has been consequences for doing that.

the guy was acting like a douche, and got tazed for it.

The world did not change, skitch. You're buying into it at the most elemental level and follow it with rationalizations that speaking out against with what you disagree is punishable by police brutality and jail time.

The world changed... thats not really up for debate, is it?
A war was started as a result
People are more paranoid about terrorist attacks.
People are more paranoid their government is capable of terrible things
    Peoples liberties have been curbed.

the world changed a lot as a result of 9/11.

I dont believe he was being tazed for WHAT he was saying... rather how he was saying it.

Again, he wasnt even tazed for how he was asking his questions. He was grabbed for his jumping away from police in the direction of a US Senator. Then as the police were walking him away, he tried to run from police.

Is int EVER ok to run up to a US Senator after making a scene like that? They have to protect people.

    Again, he was tazed...
    NOT for asking questions
NOT for acting like an idiot.
NOT for taking too much time.

HE was NOT even tazed for causing a scene. Only after he ran towards Kerry, and then RESISTED being escorted, then RESISTING arrest, was he tazed.

This guy gives a bad name to anyone who tried to make a difference, and gives a bad name to any legitimate student journalist. He makes college kids look like impulsive, media whores.

I shit. You shit. It stinks.
It doesn't matter that you love the Tigers and I love the Twins.
I mean, the "world" doesn't care. Never has, never will.
Yet, it is the world that you are speaking that cares about the basebeall teams that don't make it to the post season. It is the world that you speak of that cares that people are just in favor of one thing or another. Hmm, 9/11 scary, whatever we gotta save ourselves with, by god that's the way to go, OR, the opposition that says, damn, that sucked, how can we avoid something like that again? Can we?

Go do your Hocus fucking pocus in AET.

No, just trying too hard to get you to face your own mistake that 9/11 changed the world.

    That's the Lie.

And you seem to have bought into it hook, line, and sinker.

That saddens me. I thought you were a bit above that crap.
