But with all of the lies and bullshit this administration has pulled off in the recent past... how do we even know if these are actually Iranians doing this?
That is the delima the Bush/Cheney Administration has laid upon us. What are we suppose to believe anymore?
Like others have previously stated... 10 years ago I would have taken our government's word regarding this incident. Today... I question it.
    WHY?
Because of the way our government has behaved lately. Don't blame me... blame Bush, Cheney, Rove and the rest of those lying pieces of shit.

I've said it before they're worse than the Mob and the profit from war better that the Mob ever did on the streets.

They also threw boxes into the water in the path of the ships and forced the ships to take evasive action.

What was the commanding officer of these three ships waiting for, an explosion? These people think of committing suicide to kill the enemy is a wonderful thing to do… Anyone there remember the USS COLE?

The ships were said to be within seconds of ordering the crew to open fire before the Iranians broke off, but why did it take so long? We should have blown the boats out of the water

They were asking for it, why didn’t we give it to them???

Probably because Iraq went so smoothly. Man that was some sweet war victory right there.

I like the youtube vid of those guys pouring taxpayer dollars straight into the ocean. That ocean never had a chance.

Iran is coming, hook or crook....probably the latter.

More for us less for them.

    Okay.
    Visual confirmation.
So we've got a couple of crazy Iranians.

As to the question "why didn't we open fire sooner?"
I'm gonna go with, SHIP vs. BOAT!

We had a fleet of at least what looked like 2 destroyers or cruisers (?not a navy guy) and apparently 2+ (i heard someone say 5 on the film) BOATS ... little speed boats ...

what were they gonna do? Blow us up with an ak and a grenade?

    This is fucking ridiculous.
    Real or not.
That they would try to hype this for war is pathetic.

We're talking a bout a tiny little 3rd rate dictatorship with a puppet president that apparently feels somewhat rationaly IRRITATED with us, and their troops, probably of their own volition (you think command told them, "hey go piss off those ships!") decided to get frisky with some destroyers.

    big whoop.
If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?
  • The voice was hilarious....sounded like bad prank phone call.

Some drunk idiots out whooping it up in a few speed boats is what I see :D

Can it be confirmed they were Iranian national guard is the question.

    even still.. laughable

TEHRAN (AFP) - Iran accused the United States on Wednesday of "clumsily" fabricating footage claiming to show Iranian speedboats harassing US ships, as Washington issued a new warning to its archfoe on the first day of a Middle East visit by President George W. Bush.

"The voices and pictures broadcast by the Pentagon about the latest incident have been fabricated so clumsily that the pictures and voices in the video are not even synchronized," the Guards commander added.

"That fact that it is a fake is clear to all."

Before arriving in Israel, Iran's arch enemy, Bush lashed out at Tehran for what he described as a "provocative act" in the strategic waterway.

"We viewed it as a provocative act. It is a dangerous situation and they should not have done it, pure and simple," Bush declared on his first visit to the Jewish state since taking office in 2001.

The Pentagon dismissed as "absurd" Iran's accusation that it had faked the video footage and warned that it was prepared to use force if its warships were threatened in international waters.

What i find amusing is most people here will probably believe the Iranian government before believing the US government.

The USS Cole was hit by a small boat and did major damage and killed people. It was the the Islamic Republic of Iran Revolutionary Guard Navy which from what I understand is completely seperate from the regular Iranian Navy and doesn't fall under the direct control of the Iranian government. Sounds confusing to me.
But from what I have read these confrintations happen somewhat often but after the two sides identify themselves everyone moves on. It just seems this time they decided to screw with the US ships. I am just glad no shots were fired because all hell would be breaking loose.

I know especially after all the neo-con and Israeli sentiment about loving Iran to death, and wanting to plant pretty flowers on it's soil.

Not to mention Iran illegally occupying and starting illegal wars on lies, and propping up puppet dictators around the world to destabilize foreign govt's for the purposes of securing resources.. Iran is the worst at that by far.

I'm not trying to be all Pro-US by that statement, but if i had to choose between believing the US government version of the incident and the Iranian government version. I would believe the US version first.

And if I lived in Israel I would despise Iran after some of the comments their leaders have made about wanting to wipe that country off the face of the earth.

    LMAO!

This video we can get within 24 hours of the alleged incident.

But we can't get a clear video of the plane hitting the Penatgon, from back in 2001.

    From 2005 CNN article.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Wednesday lambasted Israel and Zionism and quoted the late Ayatollah Khomeini calling for Israel to be "wiped out from the map."

the actual farsi translation (someone can get a link up here, we've been over this before) basicaly says, "the oppresive israeli regime must fade from the pages of history."

Which, in context, basicaly was an assertion that the israeli government can not continue to act against palestinians and displace other ethnic groups by acting out side of its UN defined borders, adn that such hostility by necessity -- necessity being cited with refrences to OTHER regimes like the soviets etc that fell through PEACEFUL means of internal pressure -- of historical precedent come to an end. IE - REGIME CHANGE.

At least that was my take.

I'm not saying there is no Anti-Israeli sentiment in Iran.
    I'm not stupid.

I'm just saying the quote was FAR from the blanket assertion of wanting violence wished upon the STATE of Israel. In fact, there was no implication of force, it wasn't even an active verb. It was "must fade from the pages of history".

Hardly calling for a "wiping off the map."

The machine really ran to distort that quote!
